Sorry to be harsh - this is a stunted and myopic approach. Think about your career and tell us what you want to do, NOT what you don't what to do and/or don't think you can do. IF you looked back at your career, think of all the key skills you have acquired over 8 years, including on-site where you (hopefully) enjoyed direct interaction with your client. Did you win business for your company? Did you resolve strategic & tactical challenges for your client / your company? Did you lead teams, manage people, manage and optimize budgets? Did you manage projects?
Decide what you want to do functionally after an MBA/Masters? In what industry / type of company? If you looked at industry & type of company post MBA - do you have at least some of the skills, experience and competencies required for that industry? What are your critical skill gaps (only some of which an MBA might help address)? How do you address those gaps? How do you become more attractive to your future post MBA employer? Then which school should you attend to ensure you have some sort of access to that employer / industry?
Think and post again - help will come!
All the best

Hello Baccardi,
Thanks for your insightful remarks and please feel free to provide your comments. I think that majority of the applicants do MBA for 2 reasons : up in corporate ladder or career switch. Up in corporate ladder is easy to judge as one knows what one would get in that role; but, for career switchers, I don't know how they choose to post MBA industry. May be from friends remarks, online research but still different people different perspective such as I am good in IT sales that means am I equally good in FMCG sales. May be ?
I understand your point that your goal should drive your decision not the other way round. But how you know that which industry you want to work if you have never worked in that industry. It's like following the herd that I would be in investment baking (PE/VC).
Through my exp, I enjoy leadership type of role (Who doesn't 😃). Though, I want to be in rotation leadership programs but don't know whether I am a good candidate after 8 yrs Exp in IT or May be in Management consulting firm where I can work in different industries but doubt the possibility for candidates with 8 years exp. Through chat with my Indian friends studying in US/European business schools, I had the impression that these firms prefer young/Local guys for such programs. In short, if such programs are not available for me then I want to be in closest role that would fulfill my criteria and hence looking out options for my profile.
Plus (just FYI) I want to study abroad and don't want to go for 2 years MBA.
May be my thinking is flawed based on incomplete/wrong data available, but I am open for discussion and for your insightful remarks.
I did my B.Tech in computer science & engineering & worked as software engineer for 2 years. Now I want to get settled in abroad (Europe/U.S./Canada/Malasia/Singapore) at least for 5-10 years. Is it necessary to get MBA From abroad for this? Aren't there other routes by which I can do MBA in India & still go on settling in abroad after 4-5 yrs. working in INDIA??

Hello puys, I came across a new course called MSBA (MSc in Business Analytics) offered by NUS and McCombs Business School, Texas Austin. Its been started from 2013. When I saw the course details it was more related to computing and quants. Both are a 1 yr course and are offered by prestigious colleges.
Can someone give insight on the type of work in Analytics industry and the scope when it comes to job opportunities !! Below is my Profile :
10th - 94.5 %
12th - 95 %
B.Tech - 89.3 %
1yr 8 months in TCS
Good Extra Curriculars.
Kindly evaluate my profile for the same !! Yet to give GRE though.
I have also done some research into MEM courses offered by Duke, Dartmouth and MIB offered by Grenoble. Can someone compare them with MSBA ? And let me know which one will be a better option in terms of job opportunities 😃

In a world where 90% data that exists today was created in just last two years, the challenge here is not in getting the data but it analyzing it. Many companies rely on quality data to gain business advantage. From global trends in healthcare to social media customer behavior patterns to digital marketing, data and its analysis has become a vital ingredient for success. University of Texas Mccombs School of Business, NYU-Stern School of Business, New York and Schulich School of Business, Canada offer masters programs in Business Analytics. These programs are targeted at professionals who want to take up roles in 'Business Analytics' and 'Big Data'. Industries such as offline retail, e-Commerce, healthcare and cloud computing are actively hiring managers with such expertise. Ready comparisons are not available for such programs, you will have to visit their websites and note down placement details. You can also try to connect to alumni via linkedin or via school itself and take their feedback.

To be honest, working abroad for as many years as possible is the best way to accumulate wealth... that's because every dollar you save there, gets converted to Rs. 55/- in india. Isn't it??
33 months in IT firm for an asset management Client.
- Involved in datawarehousing/ETL mapping development
- Requirement understanding/ discussion with Client
- My work was related to development/providing data for the AM firm's investors. I was required to access and analyse the data to see if matches the required benchmark levels and donot have extreme projections. Later, present the same analysis to Client. Constant touch with Client regarding the same.
- Got an opportunity to manage a project module for a brief period of time, during this time I had to prepare estimation of the time and resource requirement affecting the cost to client. Interacted with Client regarding the module progress.
- Involved in a innovation project to reduce Client's cost by 25% by removing redundancy
- Appreciation and spot awards for critical project delivery.
Due to this experience I became primarily interested in the functional analysis part.
Recently the project got over and to continue my interest in asset management area, i left my job and currently enrolled in a live project and doing CFA also.
Which colleges to target for MBA finance and MSF ?
Also, I wanted to know what is the scope of MQF and which good colleges to target for this ?
Acads(10 and 12th) = 85+ engineering percentage = 65+ workex = 42 months in IT company
My work experience includes mostly application support for fortune 500 manufacturing company. It's related to order management and manufacturing execution applications. When I ask myself what I would be doing after 5 years,I might be onsite doing some programing/functional consulting or leading team for any project.I might earn good chunk of money during this period. But I wo'nt be happy since this is not what I wanted to do for rest of my life. Now,I can't undo my mistakes like joing IT company or taking admission in Engineering college at start only. But at this juncture,I am thinking to correct that mistake. I am interested in public policy, administration, governance, non profit management and social cause.I have searched online to gather related data. But still I couldn't find insights from someone like learning experience, field work and carreer opportunities. Seniors,do any of you have some info which might be useful to me?It may be anything.Courses you are aware of,job opportunities after course completion, preparation from my side before start of the course, profile building. I am looking for international educational aveneues since there are very few options available in india. (Please let me know if you are also aware of any such courses in India.)

Good suggestions from iVictor. International Educational Policy is a sub-set of a strong and generalist education in Public Policy / Public Administration. In searching for big name public policy programs, go to the US News and World Report publication on America's Best Graduate Schools. Then search for the best Public Policy / Administration Programs, then looks for the Universities with strong business schools, and then go to the websites, search for the schools which have a strong record of sending graduates to the UN, USAID, World Bank and the like.... Narrow your list down to 5 schools.
Note that the strongest Public Policy Programs tend to have very strong focus on Economics / Development economics; so you will need to demonstrate ability and record of having done courses in intermediate micro/macro economics. Find out from the schools how students tend to fulfill these requirements (normally it's by completing graded courses in these fields). Your engineering degree will demonstrate that you have the required mathematical skills to complete the research heavy elements of the program.
