I Think U r having a different experience thro this feild work otherwise U must have never known that.

Pls update us.

Hi everyone,

Hey Pratheep. My fieldwork is going cool man. I am in a village where there is no phone booth, no mobile network coverage. I am in the remotest village. so i was not able to be in touch with u guys. Hey buddies i have some news to give to you. All the people interested in money ( Lot of Money) think once again before you think of IRMA bcoz this year management has changed and they r trying to cut down on all the companies which are involved in profit making so high salry offers may come down. This is just a probability. Right now our seniors are fighting hard to convince the management to allow all the banks and other companies which pay handsome salaries. So guys just think once again. This is just a simple message to all those people who want to do MBA for nice fat pay packages. I will try to keep u updates on this matter. This is not final and i will let u know oncdde our seniors placement policy is fixed. U guys keep ur prep on.

C ya,
Aravind.

I am preparing hard for Irma .
To work in Development sector is my life wish .
If God give me a choice between IRMA & IIM A I will choose Irma .
I have worked for 4 years in a Telecom Company . But all invain because I am not developing as a human being . We cant compare this sector with fat pay package stuff . It is like realising ur Self and living a beautiful life . Forget thinking abt all this .Just prepare for Irma .
Once in Irma we will rock the world .
Seniors now please u come into a proactive role and help us in fulfilling our dreams .

Bad news for those who have fatty salary in mind!! 😃 IRMA says that the course will cost 2.8 lacs so i think it'll b arnd 3-3.5 lacs overall. If they r gonna restrict some profit making companies then the salary will come down.. i think this will bring bad reputation to IRMA they can't force ne one to join NGOs n similar organisations. NGOs and similar orgs cannot afford handsome salary.. so the question is how can one pay the education loan back and how can they meet other expenses?? If IRMA cud offer the whole course for 1 lacs then ppl might join.. lest ppl will b reluctant.. this will deter even genuine ppl with good potential.. Aravind says " All the people interested in Money( Lot of Money )", but wht do u mean by lot of money?? i think ppl interested in joining IRMA won't expect too much but they will look forward for atleast 20k. Will IRMA fetch it? Only a handful of ppl r actually interested to serve the rural poor. Ppl r after money :(. I think in a batch there will be atleast 20 ppl interested in joining NGOs the rest need salary!! so if IRMA restricts the placements then wht will happen?? I just wanted to make the point that this will bring IRMA nothing other than bad reputation. These r just my views condone my style this is just my solicitude... but whatever, this is not gonna extinguish the spirit.. i'm still on cloud nine it's gonna seperate the "grain from the chaff"(to quote kalpit).. Thanks to u Aravind, for keeping us up to date :satisfie: hope to see u in IRMA 😃

I dont agree with you completely. While its true that IRMA should allow sme profit making banks for the kind of fees that they are charging. But to say that NGOs cant pay 20k is wrong.I am not sure about the organizations that come to IRMA...but there are a lot of NGOs who pay more than 20K to managers.especially with economy booming and also the CSR sector opening up in India there are a lot of organization who pay pretty well. And also not to forget the international NGOs who have started their Indian operations.Especially in bangalore,Hyderabad and Delhi..there are a lot of NGOs who run it in a very corporate manner and pay their employees well.I work with an NGO which pays pretty well to well qualified people. But the only thing i am not sure about is the kind of placements that IRMA has...do they call NGOs working in Rural areas only or is it any development organization..(like premji foundation,HSBC foundation mahindra education trust...and any TATA group...etc and also the various Microfinance institutions.)guys these foundation pay really well...i am not a pro in this stuff..but this is the information i had gathered.. maybe the seniors can throw more light on this.

hi,
i wanted to know whether irma looks for sectionals?
thanks

Kalpit!
According to websites of TIME,CL,PT and CF IRMA do look for sectional cut offs.
So its always better to pay attention to all four sections.

Ruchi,

Since IRMA won't allow the students to take home the provided Q paper it's bit difficult to get the replica.. but u might be able to get some similar Q papers(memory based) provided by CL, CF etc., Here, follow this link>> Pegasus - B-School Entrance Exam Analysis

My friend Pratheep(who's active in this thread) might get some practice papers very soon.We will post it as soon as we get it. Some of the seniors told us that IRMA is similar to MAT, so why don't u get some MAT practice papers and start practising! :). For the GK section buy Pratiyogita Darpan(extra issue)-Indian Economy. U can get it by VPP. Here's the link
Pratiyogitha Darpan
Hope this might help u. Good luck!

Hello Prerit!
This is from some website!

After passing out from the institute, a student is placed appropriately with the Government of India's rural development projects or with some voluntary agencies or any international level Non-Government Organization (NGO).
Non-Government agencies like Action Aid and Organization of Rural Development advices worldwide government for their rural development. Their function is backed by high-end research facilities and case study module back up for international sources. The countries like America and the United Kingdom provide many of the non-governmental organization funds. Their funding is further supplemented by some development work in the particular region.
There are many institutions and projects which corporate houses fund the rural development. This gives the company some kind or brand equity and extra mileage. The other avenues open for rural management professional are the research institutes. There are also equal opportunities in agencies like United National and its subsidiary social research agencies

Training managers for rural markets:

Even as companies devise their own strategies aimed at garnering a larger share of the growing rural market for goods and services, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) is laying special emphasis on a two-year full-time PG Programme in Rural Management (PGPRM). The programme is aimed at creating a pool of management professionals who are trained and equipped to tap opportunities and meet challenges in any sector of the economy that directly or indirectly affects the rural community.
Professional expertise

Says Fr. E. Abraham, Director of XIMB: "FMCG companies, rural marketing agencies, non-government institutions, agencies under the United Nations, micro-finance companies, banks, insurance, companies engaged in agro-based businesses and others foresee exponential growth in the rural areas. Our PGPRM equips our students with professional expertise to effectively address the specific requirements of rural areas and the rural economy."
Immersion courses

Besides theoretical training in classrooms and field-training programmes, the "immersion courses" are aimed at facilitating industry-academia interaction. Practising managers visit the campus and interact with the students even as relevant practical experiences are discussed.
While in the classrooms the students are exposed to theory and concepts related to the rural economy and developmental issues, the objective of field training is to enhance the practical knowledge and learning opportunities of the students. The field training programmes enable students to come face to face with rural realities.
Traineeship programmes

The management traineeship programmes provide students with practical work experience and learning opportunities. At the end of it all, the students are expected to have developed skills, acumen and attitude that have specific applications in various aspects of rural management.
Set up in 1987, XIMB offers three post-graduate programmes, one doctoral programme and one certificate programme. They include a Two-year Full-time Post-Graduate Programme in Business Management, Two-Year Full-time Post Graduate Programme in Rural Management, Three-Year Part-Time Post-Graduate Programme in Business Management for Working Executives, a Fellow Programme in Management and a One-Year Part-Time Post-Graduate Certificate Programme in Business Mangement. A total of around 650 students are covered under all the five programmes. In the campus placements this year, 120 students received offers from 193 companies. The average salary offered was Rs 7.12 lakh per annum, a rise of 40 per cent over last year, according to Fr. Abraham.

Friends we have discussed a lot on how to prepare for the Exam . Now the time has come when we get more serious towards the career in rural management and discuss among ourselves the scope in this field. Lets discuss our aims and objectives . Lets discuss about "Rural Management" .

hello friends
The role of Goverment is now getting less and less and we are moving towards decentralisation . So roles of NGOs is increasing . I would like to manage an NGO focussing on all aspects of poverty alleviation .
