Dear Puys,


I have a question regarding ISB Essay 3? Is it absolutely mandatory to explain any gaps in education. I had a one year drop in Engg after 2nd year. And engg % overall is 55.2%.

Having said that, I have 730 on GMAT and almost 5 years of work-ex in Siemens and I have used the essays to effectively highlight my accomplishments in my career and personal development since my engg days. I want the adcom to judge me by what I am today and not my engg days without making any excuse for below par performance in engg.

Kindly advise!!!

I think it is essential to explain a gap. But if you can give a positive turn to it your essays then it can be covered.. Highlight few things that you did during that gap and how it helped you etc.. If you do not explain it then it might reflect badly on your application..

What are the chances of getting in to ISB with what GMAT score/what can be done to improve my profile.

How often does ISB contact the recommenders and when..after the i/v or before the i/v??

They'll be contacted before the interview, the input from them is important in deciding if you would be called for interview or not! Typically they would be contacted only once but they might get reminders if the deadline is approaching.

@singhsid I wanted to ask weather after submitting the Reco..are the recommenders contacted by ISB ovet the phone or e-mail...
