My questions goes out to all the people who aim to work/are working in Finance post MBA, specifically corporate finance.
Guyz.. I have made one spelling mistake in my application.. Spelled the name of my ex-employer wrongly..
I really dont know how this went undetected.. I mean, i got essay reviewed from 2-3 persons but still.. I realised it today while going through essays again! wht do you think? Will my chances get affected because if this? Havent got call yet.. GMAT score 690, 4.5 yrs of work ex in indian MNCs.. great academic record to show.. submitted application at 11.30 PM on 15th Sept.
Don't fret over it and hope the adcom overlooks it too. In any case it is not a big mistake, and will not affect your chances of getting an interview call.
On a lighter side, I get reminded of the Hari Sadu ad. Did you have this ad on your mind while spelling out the boss' name?

@punters11 said:India has become a hub lately for infrastructure finance projects and companies offering this role are IDFC, GMR, L&T; Finance, etc. These roles are broadly called project finance. The ISB list of recruiters does not feature any of these companies. Is project finance a very niche role and for someone like me with an engineering background and project execution experience in automation, would an MBA with Finance specialization suffice to work in Project Finance? Also, how does ISB PGP help in achieving this post MBA
What kind of projects are you involved in? Are these long term capital intensive projects that have likely built some skills you would use in the future role? I ask because there does not seem to be a natural progression from your current role in project execution to project finance, where you would be working on large infrastructure projects. However, as with all career changes, you would have to make a concerted effort at the B-school to expose yourself to opportunities that facilitate this move.
Taking up the finance specialization, ELP, joining relevant Clubs and getting involved in other on campus activities related to infrastructure and financing are some of the steps that will help. Also check out: ICREI : http://www.isb.edu/ICREI
