@preferanonymous yes it was a big decision for me against all odds( gmat 610). 99% of the consultants I spoke to were of the opinion that with 610 its impossible. I trusted ISBs adcom on value of diversity and strongly believed the GMAT is just one part of the application.
It reinforces the fact that GMAT is just a part of the whole application.

I feel that they are keeping the ones with 5+ years of experience for the last part.......any thoughts............

those who have got interview calls.. may i know when you got 'the mail' from ISB? @sudhir3127 , @akki.oceanic , time and date preferrably.. looking for patterns here :(

buddy I would love that... That way I will still keep my hopes high :)

hi,

i gave the gmat 2weeks back and aiming for R2 application.

My profile:
10th: 78%
12th: 77%
grad: 3.4/4

gmat: 750

work ex: 2.5years with a global investment bank. 6months global experience where I dealt directly dealt and interacted with Directors. youngest in the department, youngest to be promoted to senior analyst. received outstanding contribution award from CFO of the firm. extensively involved in development activities and in migration of work. i can get decent recos from work place. (possibly from head of department).

ec- decent

did decent amount of social work which has been recognized at a state level.

I would ideally like to apply this year but I'm uncertain whether the inadequate years of work ex and/or lack of time for application might hurt my candidature. ISB is my first choice as a B-school and I'm willing to wait another year (although not preferred) if it strengthens my candidature. it would be greatly appreciated if someone could guide me. thanks!

oh.. and I'm a CFA level 3 candidate

For those who are worried bout the slowness of ISB's interview process (i am too :)), just thought will give it the 'guesstimate' approach.

a. Total no. of applicants to ISB ~ 8000
b. No. of applicants for R1 ~ 50%(a) = 4000
c. No.of applicants who are called for the R1 interview ~ 50%(b) = 2000

Since interviews started in the first week of October, we will then have 3 weekends in Oct and 1 weekend in Nov in Hyd alone. Additionally, say 3 weekends each from Delhi and Kolkota.

That gives us a total of 10 weekends of interviewing nation-wide.

Lets assume there are 8 panels on an average in every center who can take 12 interviews a day. Thats around 96(~100) students on a weekend-day. Since we will have to take into account 2 weekend-days (Saturday and Sunday), the count doubles, accommodating around 200 students/per weekend.

For 10 weekends, the total no. of students would be 2000 students.

With some interviews happening on weekdays as well and assuming there are more panels who do more interviews per day, I think ISB should be in a position to call all students it wants to :)

There is always the downside of my numbers going totally wrong :)

yup u just go through the thread i have seen invites only for people less than 3 years ex......so lets see.....

i think 4000 applying in first round is too much.

i think we have reasonable evidence on this thread to know the number is below 2k.

The interaction i had with adcoms and current/past students ISB at max gets 5000 apps in total (R1and R2)...and historically a little more apps come in for R2 vs R1.

I also have noticed this thread... the only down side to this assumption is that this forum is not a correct representation of the actual crowd :)
