Hey...m blocked from sending any frnd requests for the next 7 days...

I got ur msg on FB but somehow unable to reply..
I have been following this thread all through November 15th and would like to congratulate those who made it to ISB.

For those who did not- its time to look ahead. If you are planning to apply to other b-schools, we would like to give you a chance to revisit your essay strategy.

We are willing to give you feedback on one essay for any other b-school that you are applying to. Please PM me for my email address and remember to send your resume along with the essay.

@Cyprus Does one have to request for a feedback or does ISB send one out on its own after the reject letter?

Hi,

i got admitted in R1. I wanted to know when do we have to pay the fees for ISB. Is at the time of registration or is it before that.
I am thinking of applying in R2 to other schools but I will do so only if I can have to pay the fees at registration.
@kuhelide We have to request mate. But I think they will only entertain such request after class of 2014 commences. At least this was the case last year, I am not sure about this year.
@man05163 Sent you a pm with contact details. check it out.
@TheRealShredder you need to pay some amount upfront to secure your seat. this is a common practice for all reputed international business schools. more details about structure of fee payment should be part of the admit package which most of us are waiting to receive.

all this information should already be with you of course, in your admit mail and the attachments with it.

@trailblazer123 I do have the info about the initial payment to secure the seat. My question was more about when do we pay the tution. I guess it will be in the admit package. One my friends at ISB told me it was sometime in March last year.

@trailblazer123 Sorry buddy...but i didnt get any PM from you.... can u plzz send it again....
@man05163 done, I've just shared my fb details with you to connect.

@TheRealShredder Which campus are you joining ?

I am joining the Hyd campus.

@muvvalasumanth hi buddy.. Am from Mumbai, joining HYD campus.. Isn't there a FB group for all admitted? Can somebody send me the link?

Thanks

Can you please share your profile? Thanks a lot...V.
Sure. Sorry that i couldn't do it earlier, as i was travelling back to India. So, here it goes,
GMAT : 710, 6 yrs 2 months of Work experience in IT, (Geographical Information System- Telecom & Power Domain), Graduation: E&E;, VTU
ECs: On the border of Average and Bad, Professional achievements : Good

For the benefit of R2 applicants, sharing my interview exp., It was over telephone:

Though interview was scheduled over Skype, 7th Nov., but got a ping at the scheduled time to call them on a hyderabad no. Unfortunately, i didn't had enough credit to call (how stupid that i didn't check earlier). Asked the interview panel to excuse me for a couple of mins, ran downstairs to my friends room, grabbed her phone and called back after 2 mins.

1. It started with why MBA?

2. What do you do at your workplace? This went on for some time. They wanted to know exact nuances of the work i do (I have doing programming, solution designing till six months back so couple of questions on those areas and my somethings related to my current role of business analyst)

3. Significant challenges faced in previous roles and current role? How i address those issues?
(Mentioned that since i work on GE's Proprietary software, invariably the hardest thing is to integrate with other SWs and also building a technical team as not many people are there in the market with skills on these technologies. I write codes in a language called 'magik'...seriously. Though i find it the best among others that i have used.) . went on for some more time.

4. What challenges does telecom and utility companies face in general in today's india? Propose some solutions to address that.
Was grilled on this and in the end panel agreed to my suggestions.

4. What do you expect from ISB? How it would add value to you ?

5. What companies i am targeting post ISB.

6. What i do for fun after work?

7. Any questions?
Had one, so got clarified. And before ending the call apologized for that they had to wait for my call.

I guess good essays and a decent interview worked for me, though having a general profile.
It worked best to keep the answers honest and simple in the interview.

All the best Puys!

people from delhi with hyd admit..guys lets meet up!...plz drop me a pm

Hi Puys,

I know it is a tad too late to ask these questions, considering that the ISB applicatiion deadline is 30th November for the Class of 2014

I appeared for the GMAT less than a week ago, and scored 700.

Here's a brief on my profile:

10th (ICSE) - 88.2%

12th (HSC - vocational) - 89.83%

Graduation (BMS - Mumbai Uni) - 80.25%

CFA Level 2 - June 2012

Work experience - 2 years 5 months till date - KPMG MErgers and acquisitions (tax)

Age - 23

ECs - very average - have some community work to my credit; 2 internships at the college level (one with Deloitte), and participation and organising in a couple of events during school/college days - but that's about it

My chances look bleak, but i still want to give it a try. Have started working on my essays - planning to emphasise on the diversity aspect by bringing out my educational background and work experience. Will try to demonstrate growth by emphasising on the kind of work and responsibilities shouldered, from working under a AM level supervisor to handling assignments independently with the team Director (being in a big four without being a CA, i have had no promotions till date). Secondly, I think I should also emphasise on my strong academics, and hoping CFA Level 2 would add value to my profile!

As for essay on where I see myself 3 years from now, I am planning to link my work ex in the transactions business and CFA (understanding of valuations, accounting etc) to demonstrate where I see myself after having graduated.

It would really help if you guys could provide your views on my profile, and give me suggestions as to how i can bring out the best in my essays. With my limited work ex and OkOk GMAT score, my essays become very critical. Also, is it possible for some body to share essays ? Or anywhere I could get sample essays - the ones online seem to be from the perspective of IIMs with a lot of work experience, and hence i cannot relate to those !!

Thanks a lot, puys!

@priyankabajaj89 GMAT is one of the criteria and essays are surely the most important part of the application! take your own time and give it your best shot πŸ˜ƒ profile seems good enough though.. It all depends on how you bring it out through essays.. have messaged you.. All the best..

Hi Puys,

I am applying for the ISB R2 this year.I had appeared for the GMAT twice this year

1st attempt-600(Q-45,V-27)

2nd attempt-640 (Q-42,V-36)

the rest of my profile:-

10th-86.8%

12th-76.4%

Btech- CGPA-8.26/10

EC-good, with varied experience in Acting and directing dramas in college and current organisation.Eastablishing and running the social welfare wing of my college which deals with providing education and finances to the underpriviledged kids of rural west bengal.

Experience:- will have 3 years of experience on 31st march 2013, have more than one year onsite experience in melbourne ,Australia as a Techincal primary for an enterprise management tool in IT :(...

I believe i have a very common profile as my work ex is in IT and along with a low GMAT my chances appear to be bleak :(.still hoping againest hope would like a profile evaluation from you guys. Also, can anyone please help me with the second essay this year as i dont have much of an idea about how to shape it up with my current work-ex .

thanks Puys!!!

@xan
Hi. Nice to find a fellow IT guy in the current class. I am working with Dell (previously Perot systems before acquisition) for last 5+ years. I am looking for a career in Sports management. I am almost ready with my essays and but need a bit of info. before finalizing it.
My question to you is, are there other people in your class or alums (in your knowledge) who have gone down the road of sports management.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Abhishek

Awesome man, you in fact are a lucky guy that you are from IT and got in ISB. There is a who had GMAT 720 with 9 years exp with 5 years onsite exp, and he did not get a call. I thought my essays were good along with 8 years IT, but things went the other way. In the name of diversity IT people have been treated as untouchables, even though it is IT people who make everyone's life easy, right (remember the days when everything was manual)? All the Best to you an may you be able to change the perception of MBA gurus for IT people, you have our flag now! Heartiest Congratulations!...V.
