ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

@Yagami_Light No, ISB draws up a list of admitted candidates irrespective of campus preference. Only after this is done, the campus gets allotted.
@target2013 Thanks, but we do have an option for campus preference in the form, right? Does it hold no significance?
@Yagami_Light Sorry, my reply was not very clear. Yes, there is option for campus preference in the application. But this factor does not come into play while shortlisting candidates for interview or selecting final list of candidates. Only once ISB has the final list of candidates ready, they allot the campus according to preference/other criteria for the selected students.

Puys.....Any ideas on video compression....i was using TVC but being a trial version,it leaves a watermark on converted video....plz suggest any other method to do it?

@MissWorld : I second @panks_delhi .....though make sure that your evaluator gives sufficient time to your reco and do not leave everything to the last day.
Sure and thanks
@delatpg What you can do.. its a little stupid.. but if you have no other option.. upload your original one on youtube.. it automatically compresses it.. then use the youtube url on file2hd.com and search for the movies and download them in mp4 form. It usually is low res and file size enough for ISBs purpose. Clarity wont be very bad... as good as youtube. try it.. :)
@delatpg Isnt it so foolproof and genius in its simplicity!? Please thank me :P

Honestly, the video quality doesnt really matter, as long as you are visible. I did mine with a 5 MP phone camera. The clarity was slightly blurred but the audio was good. Shot the whole thing in 30 min, by sitting in one of the conference rooms in my company and blabbered about how i feel about life (YAWN!). End result : ISB Hyderabad with 5 lac scholarship !! :)

So my 2 cents, dont focus too much on video quality and editing...express yourself crisply in the given time frame and you are good to go..

One more tip...no need for formals for the video essay, a clean shirt will suffice..

ATB!!

@Sadhvika : Well, your simple procedure inspired me to crack TVC register key instead.I converted a trial video of mine and its well within 15MB without compromising on quality of A/V.
@shrikant0218 : thanks man and congratulations on the admit.

@delatpg thats good! as far as it got done! so well.. I think the video has to be a reflection of your personal self and consistent with "whole" story that your application tells. There has to be 1 coherent image of you that the admissions must see.. so the language of your essays and the mood of your video, the inspiration behind it all.. it just to be consistent..

Advise that wasnt asked for.. but I thought I'll just write it just the same :)

I agree with @shrikant0218 .. Even I sat in front of my laptop in my room wearing a formal shirt and blabbered for 90 seconds..

@Sadhvika : Well, i like hearing people out.I believe there is some takeaway in every advice-solicited or unsolicited. So thanks

This works well. + try shooting your video in 640x480 (low) resolution and average frame rate. It should give you a smaller original video.

Any admits who have received the welcome/admit hard copy yet ?

They said they will courier it, surely it doesn't take that long !

@trailblazer123 aaah.. Im done with it. Im a R1 applicant. Unfortunately on the waiting list. Secretly hoping no one will do a good job in R2 πŸ˜› *Evil grin*
@Sadhvika : wish PG had an unlike button....
@delatpg Oh no no no... Im just being a little human here. Naaah.. I didnt mean to wish bad for anyone. Im sure R2 will do just as it would do.. Oh what can I say? I just wanna get through tooo.. :(
@Sadhvika : hey relax....i know what you meant....i can understand what you and other W/L applicants are going through....lets just hope for the best for everyone....BTW Are you applying anywhere else too??

good to see some of the R1 applicants helping us out And @Sadhvika and @delatpg , a little friendly banter never hurt anyone :)

On another note, you can compress video size using movie maker, just add video to the timeline, click on create movie, a screen with options to compress within set limits appears, select 15MB and voila!!
