Hi All,
I have got a lot of help from this forum & its time I should return the same to my fellow candidates. I am a R1 applicant and happy to say that I am in for 2014 batch. Firstly, All the very best to all R2 and future applicants.
Writing GMAT, preparing app, giving interview & waiting for the final results. Its a long process & anxiety is perfectly normal. Here are my 2 cents for everything:
GMAT:
Dont panic. Because its the exam pattern to make you struggle at some point & your job is to be composed and deliver your best till the end. Good marks will surely follow if you can maintain your composure throughout.
APPLICATION (ISB):
Its only my opinion and rest everyone can decide for their own good. But I feel, only you can write your essays the best & nobody else can. Stop asking help in writing essays from anyone & everyone. Its your story, your experience. And I wonder why anyone desires to read anyone else's essay! Each one of the applicant is different and only those who can prove that diversity gets the clearance..So why asking and reading other's essays!! "Give your best..&..leave the Rest".
INTERVIEW (ISB):
Panel of 3. All 3 alums. Wonderful and very warm. Duration: 50 mins. I enjoyed my i/v to the fullest. Got a handshake for an answer and a hi-fi in between. Got 100 word essay on "pro-active".
My i/v started with a weird question.
Alum: "U belong to UP, live in Noida & work in Delhi. Tell what u feel about Noida Vs UP? & Noida Vs Delhi". I answered with 1 -ve & one +ve trait for both.
Alum: "U have written ur hobby as painting. Can you draw my portrait?"..I tried.
Alum: "Being a girl. why did u choose this job. Its very tough.". (I have to supervise jobs in field). I answered that I always wanted to join core sector after Engineering..etc.
Alum: "Ok. You decided. But why did your manager selected you for this job? what traits you showed & how?..I explained.
Alum: "but after you entered. dint u thought of quitting it". I explained & got a Hi-Fi for this one.
Alum: "Being a girl, how did u manage labours/ drivers..etc.". I explained them in detail. Again got a handshake.
Alum: "You have done so much. Your application is below your actual jobs.".. I dint respond to this.
Alum: "U have written that u won prizes in hindi. Asked me few words."..I explained some.
Alum: "Are u in touch with any of your senior collegue who has done MBA leaving ur organization? Is he happy? Where is he?. I explained yes, he is happy & working in..etc..etc.
Alum: "which companies are u planning to sit in for placements in ISB?"..I replied.
Alum: "which experience of urs will help u getting the said jobs & what difficulties u wil face?"
Alum: He gave me a small cost analysis problem to solve. Saw my working & Helped me arrive at the right answer.
Alums: They said they were very happy to meet me with a different background and bid be bye.
They dint read my "proactive" essay.

I remember uploading the video but iam making it doubly sure,. I have this habit. I forget whether room is locked or not after coming out from the room.. some body plz confirm
Guys. I got the documents scanned but don't know how to convert them into pdf of 150/200 pdi . I don't even know how to check the pdi of the pdf of image. Help me plz
Puys...i have an issue here. I submitted the application. Before starting the application, I entered work experience as 3 years 7 months. Then in the application i entered as 3 years 8 months.
This disparity araised because i shifted from one job to another in a gap of 15 days. Initially i ignored that gap and excluded that month from experience. During application i included this month.Will this be a problem ?

@aravindbond I don't think this will be an issue, you can contact the admissions office and have this clarified. I had a similar case - the work experience entered by me and the one calculated by the application based on my joining date differed by a month (I had joined in the last week of June and hence did not include June in my calculation). However, I didn't face any problem.
@target2013. Thanks dude..that relived me ...so do u suggest me to call admissions team and clarify this or should i take it easy
@GameIsOn2806 install CutePDF freeware. Open the scanned image in windows photo viewer and click on print. Select appropriate DPI which you want and select CutePDF Writer as printer. This will convert the image to pdf.
puys..one more clarification..how seriously does isb take of grammatical mistakes..post submission i found 2 mistakes...i m worried whether these mistakes would affect my interview call...please help

Just wanted to share some suggestions which could help .
Essays : Other than selecting best examples, being honest etc. , pls make sure there is coherence in your essays - when i finalized mine I thought it was ok but when I passed it to my friend he said , the paragraphs appeared disconnected. So try to make it like a smooth story rather than bits & pieces
Video essay : In my video, I kept it very simple - I was stressed too initially on how to make it appealing,special etc. however figured out that its more to see how you communicate clearly with confidence, so shot it after practicing a bit and stated my simple funda about life.
Interviews :
I had listed answers to all possible questions after going through my profile and it helped in collecting thoughts and made sure I can cover all imp points in IV.

Hi. CTC is the total package you have. Gross is what u get in hand. Sometimes its called Assured pay or Fixed pay. If you don't have such breakup, just deduct PF, Gratuity, Bonus, Insurance and all from your CTC. Another way is to just multiply the in-hand salary by 12 (make sure you take care of TDS). This is not accurate, but close.

Don't worry about dpi. If it is in b/w then u r fine. Their only concern is that if you scan with higher res, it will take up more space on their server. One benchmark you can use is look at the file size. If the file is around 100-150kb for each scanned page then you are good to go. For example if your file has 3 pages, and size ranges between 300-500kb, then u dont need to worry.

@aravindbond If its a very small thing,it shld not affect much,my application had two spacing errors which I later realised,however I am thru!So dont worry
