@raghupro If you know someone who is an ISB alum, he/she can refer a prospective student.
@raghupro said:@vbinani What exactly is an alum referral? Is it an internal system ISB has?
Here is the link:
http://pgpapp.isb.edu/User/AlumniReferralForm.aspx
You can get an alum referral. I don't know the procedure. The page is self-explanatory.

Same pinch

@vbinani Hmm.. I heard about this few months ago but never took it seriously, will find out more about it and let you know by tomorrow evening. :)
@srm85 Any alum can give you a referral, as simple as that. But there isn't anything that can be done now :\
@raghupro I checked this link early last week and it was asking for the application reference number, which we never receive before submitting the app.
Ironically, when I saw it after the submission day, the Application reference number was not required. I'm sure I can't be that blind.

However, one of the alumni I know has sent in his recommendation today. Not sure whether it will be considered or not. But it is definitely worth a shot !!

Maybe the earlier one was for R1 and they changed now for R2.
I think a recco from ISB alum wud hold a lot of weight. Afterall they wud be the best judge of whether you are a good "fit" and how well you deserve a place in CO14. ATB.

Recco can be submitted till 5th Dec. So I think they wud still be able to refer.
@vbinani Nice!! :)
I happened to interact with few ISB students few months ago to provide some help with one of their courses, at that time they mentioned about this referral system and told me that they will include my details into the server but I somehow never took it seriously. I just sent them a mail asking them if they actually entered my details back then. :D
@raghupro said:@srm85 Awesome!! So it's time to ping few of the currents students and ask them to help me out
Its worth a shot if you are sure that they will talk positively about you. ATB
@srm85 I didn't even knew about the Alumni Referral back then, they themselves initiated the topic and informed me about it. So I hope they do talk something positive about me :)
@srm85 I have worked with many ISB alums till date. I've just asked one to send a referral. Does it make sense to ask a couple more to send referrals? Not sure whether it would add value to my candidacy or just irritate the adcom
@navisangha Even I believe it should not be more than 30-40 odd WL. However, I do remember reading it somewhere in this form that # of WL is around 200.
@vbinani The more the merrier .... But on a serious note i think 2 would be a good number. Just discuss with the person who has already referred you. I hope its not for some kind of referral bonus. Then the ans wud be 1 is enough. Or call up adcom and ask about the utility of referral. It will give u a better idea.
But anyways, the link you guys provided says "you will not be able to refer an applicant after the application has been submitted"
So there is no point trying to get an Alumni Referral at this point of time.
@vbinani I am more than sure there is a logical sequence number from 14XXXX. But I do believe that makes no difference to your interview call or the time it comes at...
i think they have different numbers corresponding to interview locations, cities, admission cycle etc. nothing more. I have read R1 puys having days of discussion over serial numbers with no benefits in the end.. π
