@ankyrules ISB has given call to entrepreneurs but they want to know why ISB and how MBA can help an entrepreneur. However, an entrepreneur need to show good 3 year ITR to prove he will not sit at campus placement recruitment cycle or any evidence to prove ISB isn't a escape route. They prefer large scale entrepreneurs or entrepreneurs with more work ex like at least 4 years when majority of the ventures do fail before 4 years of time.
What's the point of doing an MBA when one already is running a large scale company? Even in one of the info sessions in Hyderabad I remember a lady over there saying that most people with entrepreneurial dreams go for a job as soon as they graduate from ISB due to various reasons.
I think it is more about why MBA that will decide entrepreneurs fate. Coz most startups, like mine, are in a cash crunch situation. So we need to have a real good reason to spend 25 Lakhs and 1 year time on an MBA. The same 25 lakhs when invested in one's startup might yield a very good result as well.

I am sorry but i Couldn't help but laugh !
Escape route ? Escape route from what ? And even if it is some sort of escape route, is it bad to escape if you're stuck somewhere you don't want to be anymore ? What's wrong in it?
@ammo44 And as @whizZdumb said, it isn't exactly an escape route for anyone including entrepreneurs. If you start considering that way then for most applicants MBA is an escape route from their current designation or industry to a different designation or industry.
And as far as my thoughts are concerned a failed venture doesn't imply a failed entrepreneur. An entrepreneur fail when he quits. So really as long as he are trying, I창€™d hate to call the entrepreneur a failure. A failed venture just means that the entrepreneur found a way of how not to do something ;)
@raghupro Great thought brother. An MBA will give you a credible profile when you meet angel investors or become part of large pvt ltd firms. But a question arises about the continuity of your work ex when majority of the entrepreneurs use their venture to cover their unemployment gap. However, that's not true for majority of the hardworking entrepreneurs who are the job creators for many. But how will they devote time to study if they are already successfully running a venture with proprietorship rights ?
That's true, if someone is already successful in running a venture then there is not really a need of an MBA in most cases. If they are running a good or large venture it means that they already cracked the formula of running a venture.
I tried running my startup in a similar way for the past two years, I have been successful in some ways and failed in some ways. Various instances in the past one year made me realise that I lack few essential skills that are very valuable for me. Hope the adcom feels the same from my application and essays.
Some great thought folks. But why does these corporates don't like entrepreneurs ??
I don't think so mate. Most large corporates have various programs to encourage entrepreneurs. Most innovation has been happening at startup level for the past few years and corporates love it too! When you go through various acquisitions happening in tech industry in last one or two years it shows that the eco-system is built to promote startups and corporates as well. Most startups aspire to be acquire by some major corporate eventually and it is beneficial for bigger players as well that way.
A few simple examples are with loads of gaming companies being acquired by EA lately. Facebook acquiring various platforms like instagram to integrate more features. Google and Apple acquiring various mapping startups etc.
An MBA will help you sell your Idea to google or Facebook or work for being human. It's a great platform to network and scale and gain different perspectives of your classmates who have a family business of liquor manufacturing or a tech consulting firm. I hope all will agree on this.
That is one of the prime reasons I am doing an MBA. There are some set of specific skills I am planning to build and part from that it is the diversity of the batch that will help me a lot. My area of interest is in empowering better customer engagement through mobile devices. As mobile device adaption in enterprises is fairly new startups have lot of scope in the near future to innovate and come up with useful solutions. With the broad range of spectrums I will exposed to at ISB I might be able to acquire a lot of knowledge and may be able to spot some lucrative pain points so that I can come up with a good solution :)

Sure MBA is a great way to network and gain exposure......In my view for hard boiled entrepreneurs, they will eventually get where they want to...maybe it will take 5 yrs or 15 but they will. The thing come when you invest 1 yr and 25 Lac the probability of getting there in 5 yrs increses.
