@Mandar86 bhai, can u tell me what are the marks distribution across different colleges, i have no idea of what to target..gave one test yesterday of kaplan.com and scored 610 /800, mostly due to quant...please assist me in targeting the better things...I will be highly obliged to u if u guide me little bit on it.....and wat should be the dates I should opt for taking test so that I dont miss out appication date of any good college....
I would suggest dont read too much into the scores, particularly from Kaplan. Concentrate more on using the reviews to get better at concepts that you are week at. I cannot suggest you on dates since I have not researched on too many schools.

@Amalgum mine went pretty neutral. They started with the reapplicant question and then jumped here and there. I could pitch on my aspirations and why parts..but scored poor for the guesstimate question. My panel had one prof and I guess two alumni, the prof was thru with my application and was clear on what he wanted to ask. Fingers crossed for the result....ATB to u guys.
Were you by any chance in panel 3?

@whizZdumb How are you? How was your overall interview? ATB
I am great ! Interview was good, infact it was great too !
2 Alums & 1 Adcom/Prof (He was wearing ISB's Pin)
All of them were really sharp. They read everything and didn't miss a single thing what i'd written in the application. Gentleman from adcom was kind of profiling me. Deciphering my gestures, hand & eye movements. Alums were probing me with questions.
They really make you think on your toes, and in the process shares feedback and insight about yourself.
It was a great experience overall.

@isbaspirant12 I just checked with ISB and they said that they will be rolling out interview calls for Mohali till the next 5-7 days. I'm still positive about an interview call though hopes are diminishing after each passing day.
Don't worry Bins....ISB is not yet in such a league that people like you, Raghupro, isbaspirant12 don't even get that much deserved interview call. It's just a matter of time before you all are called, so put the wotever little time is left to good use, and stop worrying.

My interview is to be taken by Panel 2. Does the composition of the Panels keep changing or it is fixed?
Panels change even at the last moment.
@krkunal Thanks buddy Kukku !!! Am currently watching "GUNDA" to cool off my mind !!!
@uwahi I got an invite today for this weekend (January 26). I am game for tomorrow. Let me know if it is confirmed.

ISB uses behavioural descriptive interview technique. Part of the panel drills you deep ask "why?" repeatedly and see to what depth you have an understanding of your statements and part of the panel will keenly analyse your answers and body language. @whizZdumb

Well...a classic like Gunda surely deserves your quality time, apart from a missed Oscar for best movie that went to an ordinary flick like Titanic....Hope this is the word u get for essay

guys neone from the petroleum sector here?i had my interview@delhi . wanted to knw hw the interviews for persons similar to my profile went..

[Off Topic] All you guys trying to kill some time. Try watching Arrow, a new TV series. Around 10 episodes have been telecasted till date and its are really good. πŸ˜ƒ

I had my interview yesterday and here is a summary of how it went:

The moment I reached the venue, I was given the one-word-essay : "Forum". Everybody got the same word.

The assigned panel changed from 4 to 9.

The interview started half an hour late. There were 2 alums. Both of them were very calm and patient in listening and sought interest in understanding my work and approach. Neither of the two were from my industry.

----START---

Q: Please give a brief of your education and work life.
Q: Why such short stints ? (This is my 4th year of work ex and 3rd company)
Q: What is your biggest achievement in you current role? A few follow up questions seeking clarity over the task actually done. What was the Objective ? What was the cost incurred?
Q: CASE : If you are the brand head of an international apparel retail brand, what would be your strategy to enter into India ? (This came from the fact that my long term goal is to lead an apparel retailing brand)
Q: Why do you think most international brands fail in India?
Q: Are rentals in Apparel retail industry high ? Broadly how much ?
Q: What will be your targets in the first year of your entry?
Q: Do you think E-commerce in Apparel will work ? Don't you think there are cost constrains ?
Q: What is the biggest challenge you have faced ? (Don't remember if the question was specific to work life but I gave a work life example)
Q: What do you do apart from work ?

-----END-----

Most of the questions were like conversations and most follow up questions were cropping up from thereof.

I really could not judge whether they were convinced with the answers. Overall I would say the atmosphere within the interview room was very calm and they make you feel comfortable. Most of the questions start open ended and you can make a mark with all the relevant points if you are prepared. In many cases, I feel I could have mentioned a lot about results and outcomes. I was stuck with the process.

Thanks to all who helped me

The wait begins.....

My 2 cents:

Preparation helps.
Mocks Help.
Knowing your industry apart from your company's context helps.

All the Best guys

I would love to get that word "GUNDA" - I can write the whole movie script instead of 50-100 words.

some of us (puys) will definitely be ISB alums (and may also get into adcom), so Request to get this procedure for admission changed. All calls should come at one go or if they are giving calls like this then side by side they should give rejects also. This wait is putting lot of pressure ...tired of refreshing or opening email box or going to ISB thread at pagalguy.

@mank18 : Hotels in sec 43 would do fine. I am visit ing mohali on 26th.. bt i do tat every weekend.. Mere karan arjun aayenge...syndrome....Majestic Phase IX hotel would be nearer to the knowedge city (ISB).

Hello Puys,

This is for those guys who are waiting to be interviewed or are scheduled shortly.

I had my interview on 19th Jan at Hyderabad. I reached ISB 1.5 hours before my scheduled time to get a feel of the place. And I have to say the campus was excellent. I went to the atrium which is located in the main building around lunch time and saw lot of current students hanging around there. Some were having lunch some were having coffee and some were just chit chatting. Lot of firang crowd as well from both faculty and students. It was the third day of their placements so everyone was in business suits. The overall crowd looked very good.

Anyway, moving over to my interview experience:

The one word essay for me was on Facade. I asked the guy who was coordinating the essay part to give me some other word. He then gave me another paper with the word Formal on it. Wrote a 75 words essay on it.

Then I was asked to wait for my call. In the waiting area there were some 15 people. I struck a conversation with a few of them. I was the only one interested in talking there and initiating a conversation, everyone else was pretty much serious and uptight. Perhaps they were nervous. Anyway, I spoke to everyone sitting around on my table. Most of the people had between 3-4 yrs of experience and the gmat scores ranged from 690-770. I think my gmat was the lowest out of all the people present there for the interview :P

My interview began about 30 minutes late. There were three guys in the panel, all alums.

The first question they asked me was which all cities I have lived in ( as I am a fauji kid). Then the conversation moved on to my career progression and my career achievements.
A 10 minutes discussion on my career goals, why do u want to be an XYZ , in what domain,. why this domain , what difference u will make etc etc.

I was then given a guesstimate question to guess the annual revenue a particular product (related to my current domain) will generate in Indian market? Then based on that they asked me to calculate what price I will put on that product. I could guesstimate the first part but struggled with the second part. They tried to help me by dropping hints but I still couldn't solve it entirely. After a while they asked to let it go as they understood my thinking process.

Then I was asked a few questions on my background, educational experiences etc.

In the end they asked me if I have any questions for them. I asked if the ISB considers the one year program at IIMs a competition? I also asked about their experience at ISB and how it transformed them as professionals.

My interview lasted for about 25 mins. It was cool. I think they were quite soft on me. Probably coz I am a girl and they just wanted to behave as gentlemen πŸ˜›

In retrospect, I think i did fine in the interview but I could have answered a few questions better. I missed out some great points in some of the questions and was later kicking myself for it.

One piece of advice to those who are preparing for their interviews: PLEASE BE THOROUGH WITH YOUR RESUME AND ESSAYS AND BE EXTREMELY CLEAR ABOUT YOUR CAREER GOALS.

I hope this helps all.

Still waiting for the call:(

@asingh.rathod Nice debrief!
