I was told by some experts that some of the successful applicants took as long as 2 months for their essays....wonder what they write ...the word count is also fixed.
Well, I can tell you from experience that I spent more than 2 months on my essays and also know many folks who worked on their essays over a similar timeline.
Its not what I wrote, it's merely how I presented it. Trust me, the time that you devote to your essays may very well turn out to be the biggest single influence on your candidature, don't take it lightly.

It might make more sense to have the meet up discussions on the thread specifically meant for meet ups. π You might be able to get more responses. Sometimes Puys who have finished their MBAs are also active on a city specific thread vs this thread.

Hi Puys, Am a reapplicant from last year. Dinged w/o interview. Question for reapplicants - Any of you had your feedback session from ISB ? I wrote to ISB for feedback in March itself and in April I got an email from Adcom that they would be scheduling sessions in April/May. Not sure if I have to ask for feedback once again or I am in a long queue.

The Ad com mentioned that they will be starting feedback sessions soon. But if you don't hear from them by first week of June, just send them a email. They are usually pretty good with follow ups.
Hi, I am a current student at ISB. In short, my profile is: work ex of 5 years in US in infrastructure sector. Post MBA, I am looking into General Management.
I am happy to answer any questions from prospective students about ISB or the admissions process. Due to time constraints and for obvious reason that profile evaluation is a very subjective thing, I might not be able to do profile evaluation.
Please, let me know your queries. Thanks and good luck.

Hi Ajay, Thanks for the help. To start with I have a couple of questions:
1) I have heard about this referral program ISB has started this year for applicants where current students can refer a candidate, and referred candidates will get admission counselling. Is there any such provision? and is this admission counselling different from the feedback that all of us re-applicants have been asking for?
2) Could you throw some light on the class proportion you see at ISB. How much IT/Non IT and other diverse domains. It'll help to get an idea of what was the selection ratio this year

1) It was always there. It isn't something that was started this year. IMHO the feedback session that re-applicants get would be different. The re-applicants are getting feedback on what the ad com felt was a shortcoming that can be addressed. The referral is more to make the person aware of what ISB has to offer.
Ok guys, its kinda embarrassing, and certainly much beyond my faculties (academic, professional or otherwise), but it seems that I can refer my friends and colleagues (who again are friends) who aspire to get in ISB for the coming academic years. If any of you are interested, and believe that my 'reference' will bring about a sea-change in your application, send across a mail please at >

Hi DH, I know about the referral program already exists, but I have got notifications from my friends in ISB that this year they can refer, this was not there earlier. Same notification as the post above from Artiro, so I am wondering if something has changed?
Be assured that people who get the referral won't have any unfair advantage over people who did not get referral. In my opinion, its an attempt to reach out to more and more prospectives. The idea is to understand what ISB is about, what you want to achieve in your career, and show that it aligns well with ISB program.
About Class Profile, you can easily refer to Class 2012 profile on ISB website. 2013 class profile was shown to us, but has not been put officially on the website. Class profiles do change, so 2012 profile is as good indication as 2013 profile. Main highlight is that percentage of entrepreneurs increased from 4 to 8%. But, again it might decrease or increase in 2014 class.
I have another question though, ISB implicitly asks why one wants to do an MBA. As far as my reason goes I want an edge over others by getting an MBA degree or perhaps I can say I want a jump to the management league... but isnt this what everybody wants? what kind of answer does the ISB expect and how does it matter to them?
Why MBA? is a very standard question. It is explained on many admissions consultant website's about various schools. My suggestion is to look at present, then look at future, and see what you lack to get there. If it is achievable by an MBA, then, that's what it is! Answer that you will get will be very specific and not the one that many people will say.
May be not very helpful answer but there are many places where the approach to this question has been discussed before.
