'Somehow,someway I have to link opening an IB as my goal to getting into IT Consulting'.. I can sell IT consulting to them because I have been doing that for the past year or so.. and I have done nothing that is even miles close to what an IB firm does.. What I wrote in my app was a fairytale story I guess. 
Just for the record, my long term goal is still opening an IB but was not able to sell it properly and my qualifications (IIM) do not help either.

I had a couple of friends who worked in Mckinsey first and then moved to some PEs later on. Further they went to pursue their MBAs. In your case its "IT" to link thoda mushkil hai. I think you can use that experience to show client handling and CFA and other stuff (if any) to show yor finance interest.

yaar, if u think ur fairytale story did not stick, then dun try to stick it. As far as i can think, there is no harm in this. If the adcom asks you - "you were trying to paint ur fairytale story all over me last time, what happened this time" - you can tell them that you would want to move to finance first.
Also to make ur case more strong, I would advise you to connect with people in that background. You have 6 months in your hand. Even if you cant make a switch or have something substantial related to IB on ur profile, you can always tell them that you connected with people for 6 months and you got to know a lot of things from them. That way atleast the adcom would know that for 6 months you did try to better your profile.

Hey, new target... looks promising but I am not sure how much I can frequent PG once I land up in Hyd in Apr... Any puys need any assistance can always PM me and will try my best to help out all.. This forums been a great support for me and love to help along their Quest..
Also MBA2012: Take the offer and try to apply to some other schools but dnt ditch the ISB offer, trust me, you will regret this decision a lot if something sad happens along as we never know what the future holds (sorry for the philosophical shit but guess I am yet to return to earth after the admit..

what i came to know is that IBs(Investment banks) do not come to ISB to recruit anyways.. For IB,its INSEAD.. ISB is mostly about Consulting. So, my thinking is if ISB's USP is Consulting, y not stick to tht in my app.

Yaar.. IT se IB mein switch hota nahi.. aur jabse I have told my mangaer that I am not doing MBA this year, he has literally had his pangs out.. Giving me all kindof assignments/projects/US trips..
I think i will have to scrap this switch to FInance part from my app. If it hurts my app,so be it.

Feb 22: GMAT prep chalu... o panditji... mera acha gmat score aaye, isb main ho jaye, toh main aapke liye ek naya tota kharid kar dunga.. apne bhavishya puchva lena usse.
Mar: End of march, moolah time.... jaldi se peanuts (bonus) mile, aur main kharch karun.... plan kar liya hai pura maine expenses ka. totally 4 din rahega bonus mere account main, uske baar fir udhar ki zindagi :)
April: jaldi aaye aur mujhe mera feedback mile....

abhi dekha mail.... its nice.. but itni jaldi agar fir se chutti liye (just had 6 weeks of holiday in singapore in dec-jan) to manager haath main katora pakada dega. Waise bhi I have Work From Home option-WFH (IT industry, it has some perks
), but in Himalayas main toh no network, so no chance as of now bhai. On the other hand a lot of other activities can be done making the best use of WFH option.

I may be wrong, but in IT are you doing hardcore coding?
If yes, you can very well move to some bank like Goldman Sachs , SocGen who do IB. Although you will not do IB directly (that you want to post-MBA) , you might work in applications releavnt to IB. With that and CFA, you have functional knowledge of IB and exposure to IB technology. This should augur well for your future goal of involvement of IB and mission of openning an IB.

Seeing the rejects in 770 and 780, what would be a decent GMAT score for an IT guy considering 81% in 12th and 60% in grad (that is 1st class!!
