I have till now remained a silent spectator to all the stuff going on about Bskools withholding cash etc...on this thread as well as the other 'Bskools minting cash unethically' thread...
I just wanted to say one thing....
The guy who started this thread (subramanyam) is now actually in NITIE...(yep...he is my classmate)... and now...he does not have any problems with NITIE's admission policy.... he is just glad that he got into Nitie...The point I am trying to make is that people's views and perspectives change once u r on the other side of the fence.... so to all those who r indulging in Nitie & mdi bashing....kindly put urself in the bskools mindset and see for urself why they have such an admission policy
coming to nitie's policy...i would like to remind u all that NITIE is an autonomous institute coming under the ministry of HRD.... and since it is also one among the 15 centres of excellence (the other 14 are the 7 IITs, the 6 IIMs and IISc) and is also a 'Institute of National importance' , it gets around 55 crores grant a year....Now why on earth would Nitie want to make a few lakhs 'unethically' by withholding students cash... there is obviously a reason for Nitie or for that matter, any top Bskool to do so.... The reason might be to ensure that the institute has a predecided number of students and if it falls short of that number, it may introduce a waitlist... now what the institute is asking the students to do is to give it (the institute) a commitment to join...else, the institute needs to look elsewhere... agreed...differrent institutes have differrent policies...and it is Nitie's policy that it withholds nearly 50% of the fees paid....but then again...isnt it an informed choice that the student makes...I am sure that noone will be dumb enuf to pay up the fees without reading all the clauses about withdrawal frm the course etc...(in case someone pays up without reading all these...god only knows what he/she will do if they have to sign a contract during the course of there career...)
So, all I got to say is...differrent institutes have differrent policies...take it or leave it...noone frm the institute forced u to pay up...did they...it is all a matter of choice after all.....
my 2 cents on this topic
cheers
Puneet
Signing in after 7 years and just to see what people are talking about NITIE (or should I say IIM Mumbai). Really disappointment with the thought process of some of you folks here. File a case, gang-up against, boycott, and what not. Please do! Or even better, as the description of this group quotes don’t pay. There were, are and will be enough and more bright deserving chaps who would climb those 96 stairs.
