Life@GIM (Goa Institute of Management)

Now talking about a certain event conducted by IT @ GIM..

The event was fantastic..in a true sense !! the event aptly named 'Pathfinders' required you to embark on a path through various visual and audio clues , a maze to find the right path and there would be obstacles and hurdles to overcome!..and dead ends which would force you to turn back to the roots !

It was an Enigma to be unraveled and in the end only one team would have earned themselves the Absolute right to be called as the 'PATHFINDERS'!..

Yes , I am talking about the online Treasure Hunt event conducted by IT @ GIM. The response was amazing with over 40 teams in the fray to be crowned as the ultimate treasure seekers. People could be seen 'MCing ' the clues, hopeful to find some kind soul to help them !..:banghead::banghead:But in the end it was only you and your team-mate on one side, who had to battle it out with the rest of GIM .

Finally it was Alymer and Sangram from PGP 1 ,who emerged victorious! Kudos to them !..

And a big thanx to the whole team of IT@ GIM for conducting such a wonderful event, which I am sure wasnt easy and required tons of hard work.:clap::clap: !IT @ GIM has been doing a fab job so far, and I am sure we can expect many more events in the days to come..

And yea the Alumni Association of which, yours truly is a part of well kick started a new event ' Alumni Dialogue' , where we plan to bring our Alumni back home, to share their wealth of experience with all of us. We had Mr. Benzi Matthew , from the batch of 2001 , who was our first speaker. Mr. Benzi , currently working as the Account Manager at Cognizant, spoke on job opportunities in the Health Care sector, including from an IT perspective. And we plan to make this a regular event, with more Alumnus to interact with us in the days to come.

Also sometime next week, we plan to conduct the process for the Best Summer Project for our seniors, the details of which I would be posting as and when we have more details.

so, another weekend approaching !!...so its time to Party !!:cheers:

Cheers !!

Time : 3:20 AM
Place : G3
No. of culprits in the class : 3
Accomplices know : 2 currently in Fidalgo

Life @ GIM can be well explained in the above lines with term ending soon , the number of assignments and projects have grown exponentially, instead of partying on some beach:drinking: ( which most people think Goa is knows for), I am sitting in the class at this unearthly hour and finishing a case which is half page long but has a solution of 21 slides .
3 more assignments need to be completed before 8 AM and have a class at 12 on Sunday .

But as the saying goes " Gold is made out of fire" , so we managers are burnt to the core to make the gold out of us..

On the fun part GIM is bustling with a lot of events happening and some more in pipeline. Tomorrow is the Best Summer Internship organized by the GIM alumni association wherein more than a dozen PGP-2 will be showcasing their summer projects for the coveted title judged by 2 alumni members of GIM.

Next week is one of the most awaited events SpaceQuest - The annual Treasure Hunt organized by Kshitij - The literary club of GIM.

After that is Dementia - A crazy game organized by HRiday - The HR club.

Eagerly awaiting for both the events and hoping to gather some moolah.

Signing off and leaving no traces  of the crime.
Tourists have started pouring into this tiny state in huge numbers. Beaches are full. Stalls are coming up everywhere.
And this state has suddenly come alive. ...!!
The place is bustling with activity. As I write this post, the city of Panaji is being prepared to host the International Film Festival of India. I got a chance to have a look at the work being carried out there when I had been to the city yesterday to collect my IFFI delegate pass. Yes, students at GIM are among the few lucky ones to receive free delegate passes for the IFFI. And yes, we are excited about it. A few days from now well have big names in the national as well as the international cinema descending on the small state of Goa. Its going to be an experience of a lifetime. Hope to make the most of it. J

hey puys...

how have all of you been doing??? the past week ended on a sad note coz we had loads of submissions due this monday, and you can guess how our past weekend must have passed....:banghead: so instead of "chilling out" aft a hard weeks work all of us were busy studying!

just wen we were on the verge of a nervous breakdown, "Kshitiz" one of the committees in our college, planned a "treasure hunt" over the entire campus. It was a welcome change and acted like the best stress buster one cud ever ask for:cheerio:... for tht one hour wen this event was held, one could see the entire college running from one end of the college to the other....:D

Not to be outdone, HRiday (the HR committee) came up with "Dementia". we had to "dress up" ;) one of our team member as a mascot and there were loads of fun filled events!!!

Oh btw, how can I forget the Film festival in Goa. The best part is, students from GIM got free delegate passes:clap:
the whole of Panji is well lit, and in party mood!!!

The week which seemed hectic is now taking a slower turn and evrything seems back to normal ;)
but this sets u thinking, is this the calm before the storm?? this only time will tell....

Cheers,

Another week gone in a Blink of the eye. Time flies at GIM.

This week was filled with events. First was Space Quest organized by Kshitij. The event was a treasure hunt in the campus and the main theme was aliens and spaceship. The participants in teams of two were dressed as space pirates. All the teams were given clues which they had to decipher and reach the next clue which were spread over the whole campus. Dozens of people were running here and there in search for clues. I saw many unseen places on the campus and got to know a few secrets about the as well. The event was a super stress buster and also helped me lose some fat .

Next day was Dementia organized by HRiday. It was a total nonsense fun game where we were made to do stupid tasks. Teams had to make a f one of the members the team mascot , I was the mascot for my team and that was 2020 ka Gabbar .

Another interesting activity happening at GIM is the GIM Choir. A bunch of our students are performing at the NIO, Goa under the supervision of one of the most talented faculties. They are performing on the works of Micheal Jackson, Rabindra Nath Tagore and also Oprah. Looking forward to the event this Saturday.
Now life is again back to the hectic schedules with term ending projects n all.

One thing I learnt after coming to GIM. You should never give your key of happiness to others and when the doors are less U will have to break walls to create paths.

Signing off

Cheers :cheerio:

Another First for GIM happened today... and wat a beginning it was... i am talking about the International concert which featured artists from around the world, and had GIM performing a Chorale. The Concert, known as "Call To Freedom" is being organized every year for the music education of the under priviledged students. This year, we got a chance to contribute towards the cause. We had been practicing for the past two months, amidst the never ending assignments and quizzes, and i had to bear to brunt of batch mates often for spamming the IPs with messages for practice sessions. But what an experience it was. We got the chance to hear some of the best performances in music. Russian Pianist, Natallia Kapylova, legendary sexophone player Braz Gonsalves and our very own Prof Christo Fernandes were at their best. I hope we can carry forward this initiative for years to come...

I have been off the life at GIM thread on pagalguy for quite a while....
But that does not mean tha Pagalpan@GIM has stopped or abated in any manner...

Today after a very long time I attended a quad birthday bash...

and it wasn't just any birthday...it was the birthday of our very own Centaur aka Akki Nayak aka PR Guru AKSHAYE NAYAK!!

Now While this famous personality needs no introduction....I must mention the madness of the birthday party...

Every birthday boy is carried from his abode to the site of slughter which is quad bu his friends...

there a bloodthirsty gang of people resembling the oppressed masses of Communist east uerope wait in rapt anticipation to "shower" the guy with their "Love" and "affection"....(also known as "laao yen yeffekshun" to the Fin junta...

In case of Girl's birthday...people ranging from immediate boyfreinds to... this guy once was in her MLR group.....anyone remotely connected to that girl is suitably dealt with.

After the yeffection has been showered, its time to cut the cake....

A violent gang to people gather around a specially created altar...not to sing the Happy Birthday... but to slaughter the cake!!

And as soon as the cake is cut....the cake is gone!!!

In less than 30 milliseconds...the entire cake is gouged out by the junta with their bare hands!!!

A beautifully laid out cake....which must have taken half an hour to decorate and garnish....a pretty white pineapple cake with cream icing and whole cherries on it.....POOF...gone!!!

Even I helped myself to a handful of the exotic dessert!!

Fokat cha cake.....fokat me take!!!

GIM birthday parties rock.....and so does this place!!

Now back to gazing the beautiful golden orb of the moon outside!!

Cheers

FULL ON FUN WITH FRIENDS, FOOD AND THE FULL MOON!!

All along I had thought that this whole "NEW YEAR IN GOA" was just a marketing Gimmick spun by the highly efficient Goa tourism dept and the media....

Last year on 31st I was grilling brinjals and potatoes on a bonfire in my family garden in Mumbai :P

But this year I was in Goa...but I had no plans to go anywhere as it seemed that the rowdies of entire India had migrated to Goa only!!

But then...thats the advantage of being at the Goa Institute of Management....just like u can;t escape the assignments...you cannot escape the fun even if you want to!!

and thus I found myself part of the NO-PLAN Plan.

My transport was courtesy the fin bond Sanjay Sinha and his Pulsar 180 on which he loves to test the company claimed speed limit......

The NO - PLAN was put together by non-other than Lord of the Last Bench...

the patron saint of "Good times" at GIM....Belgium return Mr Sujay Raikar....The new year plan was jokingly called the "NO PLAN Plan"....The brand equity of programmes organised by Raikar is class apart...

If its a Ferrari....It'll go fast...

If its organised by Raikar...It'll rock. Thats the rule.

Under the "NO PLAN Plan", around 15 of us went to NH-17, the famous Dhaba on the highway, had good food and then proceeded onto Candolim Beach.

On the way, the roads leading upto the north Goa beaches was choc a bloc with vehicles...restaurants were filled to the brim with merry makers!!
We finally reached Candolim beach and found ourselves a nice spot on the beach and settled down...

and then began rounds of Snacks and beverages that we were carrying with us!!

I quickly cornered by Bottle of Mountain Dew which Sujay Raikar had most thoughtfully arranged for me and declared it out of bounds for anyone who wanted to mix the sacred nectar with anything else...No sacrilege with Dew!!

The hustle and bustle on the beach increased as the clock neared 12...
and at the stroke of midnight...the entire candolim sky was lit up with fireworks....almost every beach shack has lined up fireworks and all of them went up at the same time in a burst of colours and light...Never in my life had I seen just a fiery display...

and then we all played the game of describing three most memorable moments with friends in GIM...and many skeletons came tumbling out!!
The enxt few hours were spent chomping on the snacks, Guzzling the Mountain Dew and staring at the moon like Lunatics...

Even the moon was the most special moon....a blue moon, on a 31st Dec...partially eclispsed!!!

I guess such a coincidence happens once in a zillion years!!

At 3:30 we left the moonshine bathed sands of Candolim and the ride back home with the cool breeze in our hair was another surreal experience...

The NO PLAN Plan was a solid success and everyone had one hell of a time and will remember this new 31st night for ever...for many reason which are beyond teh scope of this thread...

If you really wanna know what those reasons are..
Take the XAT, beat 120 other ppl to get a seat at GIM...and you will not regret it.

A place where the rigour of studies is matched only by the awesomeness of the fun we have!!

GIM Rocks...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

CHEERS!!

Mr Jha, Could not have penned it any better than thou! :)

The No-Plan Plan as mentioned by Jha was thought of when there were numerous plans by our other batchmates to go to exotic places and places with Formal dress code and what not.!! All with Entry fees that could buy me a flight ticket back home!!

So we thought what the hell!! Lets make a No-Plan Plan led by our very own CGO Mr Raikar ,the experienced guy who had just returned from Belgium.

The initial plan was simply to leave campus by 6:30 pm and head towards one of the beaches in north goa and have food on the way. The beach happened to be Candolim one of the lesser known beach to the outsiders but nevertheless a beautiful one!!

The number of foreigners in the shacks on this beach were more than in their own countries probably!!

We made ourselves home at the beach amidst the full moon above, the vast sea in front of us and the Much controversial Stranded Sea- Princess to our left.

Exactly 5 minutes before 12 started one of the best fireworks seen by me till date. It was like sitting in a dome theatre with lightings all around and not being able to decide which side to look at.!!

And then being with friends, ones with whom I have shared 2 of the best years of my life, was something that topped everything else.

Total masti dhamaal and endless gossip on a lunar night .....Nothing can beat this New year Celebration for me..!!

Only one though crossed my mind looking at the lonely moon on the ride back towards college. One day we shall leave from this place, joining our corporate lives wearing suits and acting all mature and serious, where would be the time for such fun and masti!!

But the memories of having been here and done all those things that many people just dream about brought a small satisfied smile on my face.

GIM ROCKS!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

CHEERS!!

After the wonderful description by Jha and Akki ... here is My New Year @ GOA

Since the time I joined my engineering college, we dreamt of going to Goa to celebrate New Year. But with rocket high prices of tickets, accomodation and transport that dream never materialized.

The I got admit into GIM. And the much awaited 31st came. The day for which Goa is famous around the world. All kinds of tourist flock in Goa for this day, so I thought lets find out wat is so special in Goa on New years eve.

So 16 of us made around 10 different plans ranging from Formal Dance parties to trance parties to beach parties. Finally we settled down for a beach party at Baga beach. So 16 of us set out on all kinds of vehicles ranging from Car to electric scooter. We reached the beach that was swarming of all kinds of people.. young, old, kids, infants.. it was like there were more people on the beach than fishes in the ocean facing the beach.

We settled down in a shack for the evening. Had one of the most wonderful time with friends. Danced a lot. And then came " The Dawn of a new decade". The moon lite sky of Goa lit up with one of the most beautiful display of fireworks. We were not able to decide which direction to look into. It was simply amazing. Then again the whole beach went into a crazy dance mood. We danced till wee hours. Then set our journey back to GIM.

Then like good students attended a class @ 9 AM. That's the part of being in MBA. No matter how hard you party, you will have to attend a class in the morning. I guess that's how life is.

Happy New Year to all.

Well posting on this thread after such a long time that this thread appears as new to me......
Today is the first working day of term 6, the last term for us in GIM......another 10 weeks and our time in GIM will come to an end......

what a journey it has been till now, from last minute submissions, to googling for answers, to organising events, to doing bakar at jaggus, from receiving gyaan and then giving it back, from post dinner walk along mandovi, to fidalgo, from IP masti, to managing crushes, from new year party, to excels sheets, from running around the companies in goa fro live project, to calling seniors for placement prep, from dreaming abt jobs and companies, to actually making those dreams come true.......

All this and many more things will come to an end in next 10 weeks......27th march is the convocation day and that day we will say good bye to the heaven........

To the present PGP1 and future batches of GIM, njoy GIM, it will happen only once in ur lifetime.

hi guys,
i need a project report on banking/credit management, if anybody can help i will be grateful
