ACHIEVING SERVICE EXCELLENCE THROUGH CUSTOMER ORIENTATION, Saturday, December 6, 2014 

The Institute of Management Studies Ghaziabad organized the above MDP on a very contemporary theme in keeping with its glorious tradition of imparting quality education and training to commemorate 25 years of legacy. This program organized in association with NIESBUD (National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development) was primarily aimed at bridging the industry-academia divide and enhance the institute-industry interaction.The program, organised under the patronage of Shri Rakesh Chharia, Managing Trustee, IMS Society and Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director-IMS Ghaziabad, was inaugurated by Dr. Rishi Raj Singh (Director International Training Programmes), NIESBUD. Dr. Makkar welcomed the dignitaries and delegates from eminent organizations like ALSTOM, UEM Group, Nucleus Software and many others and emphasized on the significance of customer orientation.The facilitators Dr. Harsh Verma , a senior academician from , FMS, Delhi University and Mr. Vishal Gupta,Director National Sales-Delhi NCR at Marriott International emphasized on the key issues by using a blend of case discussions, group exercises, games and discussions. Dr. Timira Shukla, Faculty Convenor reiterated the importance of this theme in the valedictory session which witnessed participation of over 30 delegates from industry and academia.

Keeping its commitment to provide holistic developmental platform, Institute of Management Studies Ghaziabad organized a 2 days inter college Social Media Boot Camp in association with NEISBUD, Noida on January 6th & 7th, 2015. Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director - IMS Ghaziabad and Mr. Harneet Bhalla, Digital Media Expert inaugurated the Inter College Boot Camp where more than 100 candidates from all over India participated.
TESS (The Entrepreneurial Student Society) of IMS Ghaziabad devised this initiative. On the first day techniques of 'Facebook Marketing' - a popular marketing platform providing a two way communication where people can acquire information as well as convey their own comments at the same time. This facilitates exchanges and interactions among people and further a globalized Information flow. The second day was followed by techniques for the other Social media platforms like Twitter & LinkedIn. Maintenance of profiles, usage of profiles for personal & business promotions, hands on experience on the above mentioned practices were few of the aspects covered. The two days camp was a success with participation of more than 100 candidates from all over India.

Institute of Management Studies Ghaziabad organized a seminar on 'Stock Mind-3' on December 31, 2014 for all the students of PGDM. The seminar was conducted by ICICI Direct Center for Financial Learning. The seminar started with the gracious presence of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director IMS Ghaziabad; Dr. Tapan K Nayak, Program Chairperson; Ms. Malini Prasad, Zonal Head, ICICI Securities Ltd. and faculty members of IMS Ghaziabad.

In the beginning, the Director Dr. Urvashi Makkar has addressed the students emphasizing on the importance of stock market issues. Ms. Malini Prasad imparted a demo session on virtual game 'Stock Mind-3'. The seminar was primarily focus stock market in which delegates discussed about Retail Trading and Investment services. They also cleared doubts and apprehension of budding managers. Seminar concluded with the hope of learning new dimensions of Financial market.

With this motto IMS Ghaziabad has given an opportunity to its students for a corporate interface series which happened in Indian Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on January 16, 2015 (Friday) where DMA whose vision is "To be a centre of Management Excellence" in association with its Legal Partner and various other associate focused on a very alarming issue i.e.  "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace" where the thought was Workplace harassment is a serious matter that should be addressed immediately.

India enacted its law on prevention of sexual harassment against female employees at the workplace. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 ("Sexual Harassment Act") has been made effective on April 23, 2013 by way of publication in the Gazette of India.

It was all discussed with the students that the statute has been enacted almost 16 years after the Supreme Court of India, in its landmark judgment in Vishaka and others v. State of Rajasthan ("Vishaka Judgement"), laid down guidelines making it mandatory for every employer to provide a mechanism to redress grievances pertaining to workplace sexual harassment and enforce the right to gender equality of working women ("Guidelines").

The corporate interface culminated with the mutual agreement that Codification of the requirements is a much-awaited development and a significant step is needed towards creating awareness on the issue of workplace sexual harassment and ensuring women a safe and healthy environment where she works and even to extended workplace.
