IMT Hyderabad launched the Social Immersion Programme for the batch of 2020-22 on the 26th of December. The SIP program is a part of the curriculum designed to give our students a multi-dimensional perspective for their holistic development and well-rounded personality to be socially responsible business leaders.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our chief guest R P Srivastava, Director, Personal relations and Industrial relations, Coal India Ltd, for launching the event.
The session began with Prof. Dr. Romina Mathew 's welcome address, following which Dr Sriharsha Reddy, Professor and Dean (Academics) addressed the institute’s vision of nurturing socially responsible business leaders. The institute has started an initiative on Leadership Engagement and Academic Program (LEAP) for the same.
The event also witnessed a formal address by Director, Dr. Venkateshwarlu M, wherein he welcomed Mr. R.P. Srivastava to the Social Immersion Program's inaugural session. Given that IMT Hyderabad is in its 10th year he accentuated a need to review the performance, understand the path, and create new initiatives for the upcoming decade.

The session began with Prof. (Dr.) Nikhil Rastogi 's welcome address, where he briefed about the program structure, followed by the importance of 'Student Exchange program,' diversity, and culture. He also emphasized on the 'Buddy' concept as a part of the GIP program.
This was followed by an address by Dr Sriharsha Reddy, Professor and Dean (Academics), where he spoke about how GIP would give the students a global perspective of the digital transformation and social connection.
The event also witnessed a formal address by Director, Dr. Venkateshwarlu M, wherein he underlined the importance of an exchange program, and new ideas where students can take up projects in foreign countries and gain a global perspective.

When I was growing up, my dad used to get transferred all the time. I have lived in 12 cities and I have changed schools 9 times. Got used to moving from one thing to another quite early on. For better or worse, that made it easier for me to not be too attached to people. I like to tell myself that people are like fruits, and it wouldn’t really be fair to yourself to stick to one fruit, depriving yourself of all the other ones.
Perhaps this nomadic lifestyle was so ingrained in me that it extended to my habits as well. So I try not to limit myself to one thing, indulging in anything and everything that grabs my interest. I think people should be a little less scared of trying new things. I tried my hand at western classical music, lots of origami, I’ve dabbled in gardening, and I have been practising woodworking for over ten years now. Everything I tried, I have probably failed in at some point or the other. But I am not afraid of failure. I think the only thing that really scares me is boredom; the prospect of eventually running out of things to do and having to vile away my time staring at a blank wall.
I spent a significant portion of my childhood staring at a blank wall confined to a hospital bed. I have a very frail body, and I had three near-death experiences. I missed out on so many things because of my condition. I never got to play around in the rain like other kids. I have lost track of the number of summers I had to spend without having a single ice cream. In fact, I didn’t even get to grab one this summer. I try not to become bitter about missing these little indulgences in life, because when you go to sleep in the comfort of your own bed, only to wake up in an ICU with people shoving tubes down your throat, you start to see things differently. That’s when it hit me how short life is. Maybe that’s what drives me to experience everything I possibly can in this lifetime.
Despite these unpredictable times, I have laid out some future plans. Well… for the moment, that means getting through my finals. But in the slightly grander scheme of things, I want to try out archery, maybe open up a woodworking shop, take up some skiing lessons. And I want to get back to shooting again. In fact, I was once exceptionally good at shooting. And there’s a skydiving academy in Hyderabad which is calling out to me. So many things to try and so little time.
Change is the only constant. Try to keep up, because it is not the strongest who survive, but the ones who can change to adapt to their circumstances.

It is not only moving that creates new starting points. Sometimes all it takes is a subtle shift in perspective, with everything new this year, we moved one step closer to Impelz 7.0, the Annual Management Fest of IMT Hyderabad with the virtual opening ceremony.
The event started with the introducing our sponsors to whom we are grateful for joining hands with us, followed by an inspiring speech by our esteemed Dean of Academics Dr Sriharsa Reddy and Prof Dr Rambalak Yadav.
As per our long-standing tradition at IMT Hyderabad of nurturing our natural environment, the institution will be planting 10 trees to mark the 10th year of IMTHyderabad standing and the 7th year of Impelz.
The opening ceremony concluded with the exciting inter-college competitions’ announcement in the upcoming two days organised by various clubs of IMT Hyderabad.

Two days of pure bliss came to an end.
Impelz 7.0 brought two days of festivity and felicity with it. The events conducted by the clubs and committees of IMT-Hyderabad concluded on a successful note as various marketing, operational, and innovative strategies amalgamated with cultural fiesta making it a magnificent show. The program climaxed with the announcement of winners and runners up! Impelz 7.0 rejoiced with the presence of students from eminent colleges all across India.
The performances, musical encounters, and gracious fashion show left everyone awestruck.
But the show must go on!

What a Load Of Bollocks! (Smirks slyly)
If it is for me to say, if you have interest, a drive, rock-solid passion towards whatever you pursue then hard work solely and it alone will take you places. In fact, the very fact that am sitting in front of you at IMT-H is testament to that. You’re going to tell me hard work doesn’t get you places? Are you?
For someone with whom what resonates are only two edges of a spectrum, I’d perhaps be seen as that guy who’s either an anti-social media fellow or a complete people’s person. So, the pendulum only swings between these zones, the golden mean everyone keeps talking about is not my calling. All the elements in life to me are binary in nature, I really feel we need that approach to a lot of things in Life, a simple yes or no could probably help solve a lot of problems. It’s the middle ground business that gets nothing done but wastes time.
Even though I couldn’t care less about what people perceive of me, I like to answer to my conscience. I’ve never gone out of my way to meddle with things even when they were against me, I’ve carried out my responsibilities in all student activities and club tasks without a regard for my own health. For me , responsibility is trust, and someone has trusted you to do this. It might sound a tad too dramatic but for me it’s about giving everything to finish what you started in the first place, no matter how miniscule the task might come to be. Being entrusted to do it is an equivalent of doing it. That’s just something I live by. Ain’t no one changing that.
Hadn't always been a people’s person but developing people skills came to my rescue once I started to discover how being shy was closing a door to many things otherwise explored. My experiences also speak of the kind of camaraderie I share with my friends I feel incredibly lucky that we share such affection, I do feel extremely blessed to have a very tight group of people at IMT, having learnt a lot through that give-take in this diverse group of individuals.
All the many perspectives helped broaden my mind and grow into this person I say and am seen to be today, in this very moment.
I’ve always been an underachiever my entire life. Coming from a family of such brainy minds, I am probably academically just an ‘exceptional-average’ or at least from where I hail, especially at a time when sports was almost disregarded in our family. I firmly believe, one should earn it, and not take our position even at home for granted. An extreme approach to life at home, but yes! A much needed one, at that.
That aside, in my opinion. Life is pretty simplistic, almost naturally binary.
“If you speak your mind. What’s the worst thing that could happen?”. Plus, it’s your only life, why struggle with the notion of what others think of you, in the first place or how things might go bad, isn’t that living through it twice already. Might as well take a decision and run with it, give it your best and just face the consequences eventually. One thing that’s certain is that the rules of your life are yours,and yours alone.

IMT Hyderabad celebrated the 72nd Republic Day with great enthusiasm and spirit. The part virtual and part on-campus celebration commenced with the hoisting of our National flag by our esteemed Director, followed by his motivating speech for the students. The audience also witnessed some exuberant performances by the music, dance, and drama cohorts of Antragna, the Cultural Club of IMT Hyderabad. The institute is going strong with the first phase of offline mode and is looking forward to more such events keeping in mind all the necessary precautions.
IMT Hyderabad witnessed the seventh session of the Global Immersion Program on 10th February 2021 on 'Challenges of working in cross-cultural teams' by Dr Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, for the batch of 2020-22.
The session covered various aspects and benefits of Cross-cultural management like strengthening individual cultural information, keeping communication simple, and assisting employees to bond with each other despite their disparities. The session also emphasized how we should clearly outline each team member’s expectations and help them realize the value of their commitment.
I believe that the easiest way to know what your next step should be is to know where your destination is. Have a vision, and everything else will fall into place. I was a petrol-head for as long as I remember, and working to effect a positive change in the automobile industry is something I have always wanted.
So, the job in General Motors was everything I wanted and so much more. Not only did I get to test drive their latest cars in their tracks and sell them for a living, the job also took me all around the world. Even in cutthroat environments like that, where it is every man for himself, I have realized that at the end of the day, it always feels better to help each other out. There was this one time when I gave a customer who was in a bit of a stitch a huge discount. And for years after that, he used to send me boxes of dates as a thank you gift.
It’s been some troubling times. We have seen people lose their lives and livelihoods, and be stuck indoors with nowhere to go. I think now more than ever, it is critical that we find new ways to help each other every day.
I managed to keep myself distracted ramping up my workout routine and hitting the gym. I've also taken up a new project- restoring an old Kawasaki Z250. Whether I'm at work, or stuck at home in the middle of a pandemic, I always seem to end up near engines. And you'll never hear me complaining.

The session started with a brief introduction about Kamala Harris, the first female Vice President of United States . The session proceeded with informative and insightful aspects like US- India bilateral relationship, about Indo- Pacific space, Education in USA, how United States supports English language learning in India, common economic prosperity and diplomatic relation between the two countries.
