HUMANS OF SIMSR Because everyone has a story Chapter I Story by: Namitha Roy Why Not? ...But, why do you want to leave God's Own Country? - The interviewer looked up confused with my CV which depicted 25 years of hopping in and around Kerala. "Why not Ma'am ?" This question has lingered over since I hit the age of puberty(that story is for some other time).Oh yeah, I was a bit slow with my pace - I did an engineering course which has nothing to do with my kinda grey cells, I didn't have my dream job having a lump some stash in my savings account but So What? I have travelled whenever possible not the backpacking which cool people do, but the planned cancelled replanned trips which brought peace and happiness in my life while food stories for my Instagram feed. They might call it cliched, but if it brings happiness to me then Why Not ? In SIMSR, when people asked me why HR? I asked again why not? If this is what makes me happy and where I see myself making a difference then why crawl with the crowd? (Also, for one last time I repeat Rangoli is not my kind of HR aspirations even when the whole world decides to pass a comment on that, Chill.) Not in the two digit package league yet, I have not planned my wedding yet, Have not done the Leh Ladakh trip yet - what's the haste for? Mumbai coastal breeze against my face, I am living my happy phase. At the moment, doing the pending assignments, working for a committee and slothing at the hostel brings me peace. It's not a race, she believed in her hindered pace. Every being is different but it takes up the courage to Be You! Take it easy, Urvasi .. #HumansOfSIMSR #MasterYourFutureAtSIMSR #KnowTheSIMSRites

HUMANS OF SIMSR Because everyone has a story Chapter I Story by: Krunal Sampat Happiness is.. "Do what you like, Like what you do" Simple words, right? Na! Very often we are bogged down by our hectic schedule so much that we miss out on doing small things that give us happiness. Remember getting your favourite Tazo in Lays? Or playing hide and seek during your childhood? Happiness is a state of being. It’s an emotion that you feel or do not feel. And there is no way to keep happiness 24 x 7. But you can get really close! Sometimes it takes from a couple of hours to years of introspection to find out what really excites you or brings you little moments of joy. It may sound absurd but during my teenage days, chopping onions gave me happiness which later moved on to cooking some side dishes. Like a child waits for Diwali Vacations, I still wait for weekends so that I & my sister can cook a scrumptious meal. First time I watched Gordon Ramsay in Master Chef, that’s when I heard the golden words “16 Michelin stars”. It’s culinary world’s Oscars. I was amazed by Ramsay’s overall personality & one of the things in my bucket list was to experience how restaurant kitchen works. Till then I watched most of the cooking shows & movies like The Hundred-Foot Journey and Burnt. During my internship with Box8 I ticked off the item from my bucket list. I got to manage a part of a professional restaurant kitchen works wherein, learned many culinary skills & consequently impressed my mummy & sister. Cooking made me realize happiness can come in any form. It need not be a complex dish like Paneer Tikka Masala, a simple sandwich or a well-seasoned salad can touch one's soul. Happiness is Sharpening your Chef knife & chopping Vegetable. Happiness is seeing people hogging your dish. Happiness is a cooking surprise dinner when Mummy comes home tired. Happiness is Experimenting in the kitchen, wearing oven gloves & watching Cheese melt. Happiness is the crackling sound of tadka & melting butter on your paratha. Happiness is Papa asking you to make more just so that he can relish later on. So yeah Happiness is Cooking and Cooking is Happiness. #HumansOfSIMSR #MasterYourFutureAtSIMSR #KnowTheSIMSRites

HUMANS OF SIMSR
Because everyone has a story
Chapter I
Story by:
Meghna Sahu, Viditi Jajodia
Devil's dance or Fate's tale
Not every day you get to meet someone as creepily the same as you, someone who not only has the same dreams but is there to live with you in all. It does sound something straight out of a Yash Chopra fairy tale. Then again it was the shared love of cinema that got us two together. And for all of those who know us better are aware that it's not the dreamy world of Bollywood masala but the sheer love for world destruction that snapped us together. It could have been a perfect love story but in the world of Satan, it was the celebration of his daughters.
And this is how DaughtersofDystopia was founded. Two girls, with a love for writing, and an affinity to shadow world, all set to give a new twisted perspective to the old tales. Managing a full-time blog amidst the busy B-school life was a huge task but then all that hard work paid off when our stories got published on Stealing Sailors, a fantasy literary and art magazine. It has been liberating to be able to create something that impacts multiple others. After all, an MBA is all about exploring the best out of oneself.

Humans Of SIMSR Because everyone has a story Chapter I Story by: Udita Kulkarni Being the Ordinary We are forever preached to be perfect, to be over-achieving, to be extraordinary. For years I had been an underdog, never the frontrunner in academics or extra- & co- curriculars. Funnily enough, I have always been ‘the girl with too many feet in too many places’! What did this culminate into? It made me self-defiant, with lower self-confidence; but most importantly, it never let me venture into the paradigm of self-belief. Like thousands other, MBA seemed like an escape when I completed my Masters in Microbiology & hit a realisation that 5 years of my life aren’t contributing to what I want to do in future. Obviously, preparations started; there were bouts of angst, depression & procrastination, but it syphoned into me getting admitted to SIMSR. For months I pondered what these sudden decisions meant. Am I too unstable & unfocussed? What do I want from my career? Is my education in Microbiology a waste? Did I spend hours practicing nail art & blogging for nothing? What will the society think? Am I a disappointment? It took me months, terrible situations & consequences to realise that moulding yourself is perpetual, abrupt & demanding. SIMSR offered me opportunities to break my barriers & experience life like never before – & guess what? There was no looking back this time. I neither jumped leaps & bounds nor did I try to. I chose to improvise & nourish myself. Over the course of time my confidence started cementing, but the most pragmatic change happened within myself when I discovered that nothing teaches “you” better than “you”. The society puts you in a spot & challenges you every now & then, but the biggest hindrance to personal development is none other than we, ourselves. “Everyone is ordinary” but what matters is how extraordinarily we can extricate from the ordinary. Finally, this is what I comprehend, that how you live, lead & perceive your life is solely a right of your own; you can introduce a twist, a turn or a corkscrew – all that matters is how do you build that rollercoaster & how happy you are riding it! #HumansOfSIMSR #MasterYourFutureAtSIMSR #KnowTheSIMSRites
HUMANS OF SIMSR Because everyone has a story Chapter I Story By: Kevin Baptista Wheels of Life I started cycling a year before I joined SIMSR. It all began after a boxing match where I injured my shoulder pretty badly, and had to undergo surgeries. Naturally, after that, my mom was unhappy with the idea of me taking up a different sport - Cycling. Mumbai is not exactly the best city for cyclists. My mom was obviously concerned about my safety and explicitly asked me NOT to go because it was dangerous. She was right, of course. Mothers often are. That day, I told her, and I remember it very clearly, that I understood that I might get seriously injured again or might not even come home, but would I let something like that stop me from doing what I love? If yes, what life would I really be living? My mom never really stopped me after that day, but she prays for me. Since that day I have covered around 7000 kilometers, meeting some really amazing and interesting people on the way. Cycling has changed my life. I appreciate it more and more every day. It teaches me about life, how there might be challenges but it's our mind that can help us push through, and of course, it can make you feel really damn awesome. #HumansOfSIMSR #MasterYourFutureAtSIMSR #KnowTheSIMSRites
