life@SIIB

Hi Misha,

I heard from many sources what SIIB boasts of 100% placements is not exactly 100%only top 50% get good placements and rest of the them toggle hard and end up with a meagre salary. Infact many of them complete the course without getting placements

Its not that i want to demean u folks.

but please let me know whether the above said information is correct or wrong.

waiting for ur replies

ok...my first reaction here was laughter.....anyways wrong information...we get 100% placements..with the avg salary figures vivek has given above.....

Good to see a gr8 deal of interest in International Business......well Vivek has answered your question pretty well & yes we do have the Best facullty for AMR in the country.....no doubt about that.......the USP of the institute is that many subjects in 1st sem deal with domestic business but a few such as Export Management & International Trade deal with Foreign Trade but that's just the beginning......in the 2nd Sem we have subjects such as International Finance which has Forex Risk management, fundas about interest rate swaps, etc. We have International Law, Overseas Research as already mentioned.....So we deal with Exports, Imports, International Logistics & then move on to finer aspects of international business with Core modules on International Marketing, Research, Intl. Finance, Law.....so u get knowledge of Domestic & International Business which broadens the student profile as far placemnents are concerned.......also saw some concern about placements......on that.....your placements are as good as you make them known.......some of our peer institutes advertise their placement figures......we believe in advertising our core modules which are our USP.....that is what matters.....because companies recruit on the basis of what you know (your core modules) & not what you show (placement figures in your ads).....the figures as on the website are....a highest salary of Rs.17 lakhs p.a for international placements and Rs. 13.1 lakhs p.a for domestic placements with an average of Rs. 4.8 Lakhs p.a. (domestic) for 2005 batch.......so happy B-School hunting........CU at SIIB.......

ok guys as all of us have been observing since the past few days the defamation going on about our college in some of the other threads by some of the competing institutes....this is a very easy and low bro technique used by the competing colleges...we all have the capacity to retaliate aggressively but as our principles of the college goes..aggression is not always the best method...
so m requesting all the PG members not to go by such rumours...things presented as facts without any basis....any doubts or misleadings caused by these posts can be clarified here.....

Hi!

Lemme answer ur queries as best as I can.

Can you tell me about the typical job profile of MBA with IB...in IT industry?

.........

Well, lets cut the usual story about globalisation, its been told many times before and most of it is true. Many global IT cos have set up shop here, as India / China have been identified as future growth markets.

When you join, you will have the followin streams to choose from in your 2nd yr.
1. marketing
2. finance
3. SCM
4. HR

In marketing, it will be a normal sales job to start with to cut your teeth and know the business process. and then, depending on what growth plan is set for you, the sky is the limit.

finance, you can be a consultant, doing ERP implementation consulting ( this goes for all streams), and other things which a finance guy will be better suited to answer.

i cannot think of any role an SCM guy can have in an IT firm

for HR, for a truly multinational firm like say DELL, you can set up (ultimately, when they let you ) global HR practices, and other stuff an HR guy will be more suited to tell you.

India is fast becoming a hub for IT and services. I'm sure you could find a ton of articles on this subject elsewhere on this site.

Hi misha,

How is the industry-institute-interface of SIIB?
..........

We have many touch points with the industry, inviting eminent personalities for guest lectures, celebrity lecture series and other events. You could check out our website http://www.siib.ac.in for more info.

Oh and you COULD read the earlier posts. They'll answer a lot of your questions.

Here I am to wake up this thread. I am applying to SIIB and am feeling confident after todays snap. 143 marks @ 90 % accuracy.

So can u guys plz enlighten more on the GD/PI process. Are the GD's related to IB? Do they ask al ot of stuff related to trade and other things in PI? I am not too good in remebering facts and figures.....

My profile: Fresher Enginner with decent acads. What can i hope for in the coming weeks? Any specific tips for GD/PI preps.

Hi all,
I have attempted 115 marks with 90% accuracy. Do i stand a chance for SIIB also , can u please tell me the fee structure of SIIB.
Thanks in advance

Profile
B.E (Chemical-Fresher)-62%
X- 76%
XII -82 %

hi SIIBians,
i appeared for snap-2005 and my attempt z 114(marks).nw even with a worse accuracy i may get around 65,thn do i stand any chance of getting a call from SIIB.i m also having a 2.5yrs of wrk ex.plzzzzzzz help me put.

hi all,
i wud say a score of around 100 in snap should get u a call. but then that is my opinion.the cutoff wud be decided by the college authorities only after the snap scores are out. as for the gd/pi process, the gd wud be a case study( no international business involved), a psychometric test, a written test to check written communication skills and the interview.do check out www.siib.ac.in for the weightage involved in various stages of the selection procedure. same goes for the fee structure.and yess.....people wid engineering background and/or work ex do have a initial advantage over others.

any other queries? speak out......we are listening.

Neelabh.
SIIB
