guys,
You all are doing a great job here.
Helping people to decide by giving more insight of college.
Could you also throw a bit of light on their selection procedure.
What all rounds are there in their GD/PI. What type of topics are given in GD, if the topics are economy related or/and any general topic, questions asked to you people in PI etc.
just will help us to prepare on those lines.

Thanx
Sakshi

hi sakshi,
u sure can expect a call this time wid score of around 70. and ur work ex will work to ur benefit.and saurav....

hi sakshi,
our gd/pi process is essentially a four stage process. it starts wid a case study patterned on the lines of group discussion, a psychometric test and a written test followed by an interview. the case study is generally based on fictional situations. in my case study the group was asked to decide the course for a mid size indian pharma company where the owner is a middle aged man using old methods of management and his americam educated son who is a young brash go-getter which brings in conflict of idealogies, generation gap etc......it is a pretty simple process, nothing technical involved. just ensure that u speak sense and make decent points and u wud sail through the process. as for the psychometric test i have no idea how i cleared it !!u have abt 50 questions wid different situations. for ex- wud u give a bribe to get a contract? the answers wud be dependent entirely on ur viewpoint. the best strategy to deal wid psychometric tests is to answer what u feel. dont try to answer what u think wud be the rite answers bcoz there are no rite or wrong answers. for the written test it is a simple test of ur writting ability. i was asked abt my views on rewriting of history textbooks by different governments. obviously what matters here is clarity of thought rather than fancy writting skills.
so prepare well. all the best for the gd/pi

hi jyotiraditya,
it is so heartwarming to see people wid such diverse profile opting for SIIB. u sure hav done ur homework on SIIB and knw much abt the courses. well MPIB is our flagship programme and MPABM is a new kid on the block. infact the class of 2006 is the first graduating batch of MPABM. we hav got decent placements for the ABM batch too. the profile given is generally that of a Management Trainee. and the companies include banks, food processing companies, retail sector etc. though it must be said that the salaries offered to ABM grads are less than the IB batch, the job satisfaction is undoubtedly higher. also agri business management is an emerging field and we are only the SECOND b-school to offer this course after IIMA. so u knw we are in gud company!!
and for ur info we have a vet doctor in the class of 2007 too.
any other info needed? ask here.

hi jyotiraditya,
i think u r makinga very wise decision by applying to both IB and ABM. we have the biggest pharma companies coming to our campus and they look for people wid degree in lifesciences. and i think u fit the bill perfectly. u can fill ur private practice as work ex. and be ready to explain it to the director in the interview. also dont worry abt the gk cutoffs. the marks that u expect in SNAP plus ur profile will probably ensure that u get a call.and the vety guy is in ABM batch. so dont worry...both the vistas r open to u. take ur pick !!

Sameer

hey sameer just keep one thing in mind always....as u dont have any industry experience..whatever your notion be before joining they change entirely after you join an MBA course...whichever the college....so dont restrict your options now......dont worry about specialisation...you ll have whole one year to decide...

Well guys and gals ,for the GD process u will usually have a case study..It will test various aspects in u...ur logical thinking and clarity of thought and sequencing of thoughts,ur ethics etc...Don't take an unethical stand even though u know thats what happens in real life......My suggestion to all of u would be to take a neutral stand and always try to think from both the perspectives...Also if u can bring in a totally different point of view it would further ur chances a lot...Thats what helped me i guess..
For the interview they would most prob ask u to tell something abt urself and thats ur chance to direct them to ur strong points....Carry a resume in case and make sure u know ur resume by heart..There shouldn't be anything in ur resume u don't know abt ...
For ppl with work ex this wuld be a good point to direct them to ur work ex and usuall work ex guys have a good interview becos they get quizzed on their work mostly...Thats all for the general tips...Also dress smart and be confident...Confidence always shows..Best of luck guys and write in abt any further queries..

hi sameer,
that is not specialisation that u r talking abt. it is the two different batches- MPIB and MPABM. so u hav to pay Rs500 extra if u wanna apply for both IB and ABM course to increase ur chances. u will hav to make ur choice abt specialisation viz marktg, fin, hr and scm only in the second year at the course. so dont be confused and listen to only authentic voices and just "someone".
