Ramu kaka is one of the famous characters of the Bollywood films. Having penetrated across socio economic classes, Ramu kaka is quite an iconic character in terms of resemblance to the downtrodden servant who has to do all the odd jobs without expecting any returns. This loyal servant will do everything from taking care of the house, cooking, to tolerating the arrogantsons, cleaning the dirt and all the other stuff. All this and much more at salary that is worth peanuts is the USP that makes Ramu Kaka such a favorite character of our Bollywood movies.

But, did you know that this Ramu kaka syndrome also exists in the corporate world.Yes! You will find such Ramu Kakas aplenty in the corporate sector across diverse industries in India. Management training is a rigorous academic procedure. For those of you who are still wondering about the Ramu Kaka and his whereabouts, let me enlighten you. You will find a Ramu Kaka kind of worker in every corporate. If you want to recognize the Ramu Kaka look for someone who is constantly overburdening himself or herself with extra work, regularly works overtime, silently hands over the credit for his or her work to others, and is a typical sycophant to some extent. Even mediocre managers succumb to the Ramu Kaka syndrome and end up working aimlessly on a stagnated career graph. After all, the bosses would appreciate the smart managers and forget about the Ramu Kaka.

Working on assignments, practical training and expert sessions, you are rarely left with any extra time. In fact, if you look at it carefully, the managerial training never teaches anyone to become a Ramu Kaka. This is a gradual result of young managers forgetting their basics of managerial training and therefore succumbing to the mob mentality of the corporate sector.

This trend is shocking and needs to be rectified. As the future managers of India Inc, it is imperative to understand the implications of the Ramu kaka syndrome and therefore become immune towards its after effects. The future is more in favor of the smart managers willing to rise up to challenges and accomplish their goals. Lastly, always remember you have to choose between becoming the Ramu Kaka of the organization and the manager of the firm. Be wise when you make this choice and you could transform your career.

3rd of June, a new beginning was set, Bundle of joy and surprises that I was supposed to get. SIIB was calling, for a brand new start, Went towards it, lurch in the stomach, a rush in d heart..

Expectations were high, a goal in mind, I knew MBA wasn't going to be kind. First step in, a new world lay ahead, It will be a tough two years, everyone had said..

So all of us were ready, ready to begin, The gruel of SIIB and the life within.. Induction in the 'audi', a new director for us, Got all things into our head, without much of a fuss..

Introduction sessions in the audi, called the Induction week, Got to know about the dudes and the college geek. The outbound was next, the breaking of the ice, Two amazing days, pretty good, very nice..

Full of adventure sports and numerous fun games, We slowly started recognizing people by their names.. We had song and dance for the 'chill out' night, What a show it was, a marvellous sight..

Many bonds were made, and many to be, Those cherishable memories, the moments of glee.. The happy moments over, the charge to our grey cells, Got to learn the market, and how a product sells.

Began the first week, official beginning of our classes, Our Economics sir was an instant hit with the masses.. Stats looked tough, Ma'am initially gave us a scare, Coming without books or 'calcis', you shouldn't even dare..

Finance and Accounting, our minds completely swirled, For Engineers United, it was a completely new world.. Market research method classes were like a piece of cake, Marketing Sir with his unique quizzes kept us wide awake..

Learning in EXIM and FTP never came to an end, With smileys and 'Thursday Tadka', always came our friend.. HR activities are so 'interesting', so full of fun, For some of my classmates, this might be a pun..

'Data Driven' always makes us drive that extra mile, Appreciation or scolding, Ma'am does it with 'that' smile. Formation of committees and selections that were held, Being part of a team, with pride our hearts swelled.

We will put in the efforts and bear the sweet pain, We budding Managers, our efforts won't go in vain.. Full of 'Dyanamicity' and a logo newly designed, We are heading to the place where we have been destined..

With a sense of belief and confidence all along, Reaching the top of the ladder, where we always belong. We will get to the top, and remain there forever, This two year journey, will be a nice one to remember.

Herbst Zeist Lose celebrations in SIIB with lots of fanfare!!

Students and German delegates enthralled..!! 😃

HERBST ZEIT LOSE

Herbst Zeit Lose is a German Phrase indicating the blooming of a particular species of a flower only during autumn every year.

SIIB, with the help of its newly formed International Relations Team, organised this one if its kind event where in German students and delegates from places such as German Chamber of Commerce, etc… were invited to SIIB for an informal interaction between Indian and German students.

The session began at 2 pm where in the inaugural prayer dance was performed by SIIB junior girls following the performance of the German woman playing the Jell-O. This was later followed by an interactive session between students of SIIB and the German dignitaries. It was endearing to hear them share their life stories and experiences and answer queries based on opportunities in Germany.

After the auditorium session, it was time to play a lot of Indoor games such as Darts, Reverse Chess, Graffiti, Musical Chairs and Hoop-Ball. The Germans seemed quite happy with the idea of revisiting the child in them while playing these games with full enthusiasm.

The main attraction of the day was the Barbeque which began at dusk after a sumptuous supper. The aroma of grilled sausages attracted everybody's attention. Delicious food, Candle light, Campfire, Guitars and People having a good time, it was perfect.

SIIB will look forward to such events in future as the International Relations Team is setting their sights on a new country as we speak. International Business in the true sense, IR focusses of getting people across the world together to promote the Symbiosis school of thought that “THE WORLD IS MY FAMILY”.

With the hope that one day boundaries will only be on paper, we at SIIB wish to welcome people across the globe to our facility and make them realise that friendship will only help each other. These events are our Director's mission and his vision is to co-exist with the world as one family.

Taking a cue from this event, we plan to come up with something grander next time.

Danke!

ANUSMRUTI 2014

The happiness quotient at Anusmruti 2014 was beyond expectations. Our annual Alumni meet for the year 2014 , Anusmruti, was held with great pomp and grandeur where the host batches were 1993-94 and 2002-04.

The smiles began as soon as the alumni walked in. The campus tour set the mood for the day. The host batches were especially taken aback at the grandeur of their college and the pride of having a separate campus. Chests-swelled and eyes-moistened as friends bumped into each-other in the college foyer. We found out that day that a hug can make up for a lot of talk. The friends present couldn't believe that they were now talking as mummies and daddies. The humility of humanity dawned upon all as they saw the frail figures of their once-upon-a-time strong-bodied professors.

The session in the auditorium began with a speech by the then Director, Dr. Rajini Gupte. The host batches came up on stage and narrated their experiences and college goof-ups. They remembered everything as clearly as if it had happened just the day earlier. While the audience was captivated by the emotions on stage, the children (oblivious to the happenings around them) found their excitement in running up and down the auditorium stairs. The felicitation ceremony followed, not just for the host batches but for all alumni present.

The children were really bored by now. So with a slight modification in the schedule we brought out the Chinese Lanterns. Not only did the alumni had an amazing time but they were equally filled with awe and excitement. Everybody clapped with joy as they saw the Chinese Lanterns rise slowly in the air and drift gently in the air.

This experience was a first for many. We then moved to our tradition; cutting the Anusmruti cake. The volcano-candles and party-poppers brought more smiles all around.

Goodie-bags were handed out to all alumni and staff members while they posed at the Anusmruti-Wall and the Photo Booth. The college, lit up by the soft light of the candles and the mini-bulbs, provided the ideal backdrop for the most memorable photos.

The party then moved to Sargam Gardens for dinner. The manicured lawns, soft grass, warm friends, cold breeze, hot food and chilled drinks made it the perfect end to a beautiful day. Departing wasn't easy for most, but then it never is. Farewells can either be sad since you are leaving your friends or they can be happy since they give you the hope that you'll see them agin.

We thank you, our alumni, for making Anusmruti 2014 a huge success.

As a part of International Fest that was organized in our college we had a WTO SIMULATION

wherein students played the role of trade ministers representing countries engaged in negotiations over international trade. It was designed to replicate the dynamics of a WTO ministerial meeting. A few moments of the grand day.

Hey senior pals,

As a freshman when we come to the institute, apart from the pre-induction course what else should we be prepared with? and Is there any uniform dress code? If so will it be provided by the institute or should we get pre-stitched?

As a part of the Induction program for the 2014-16 batch students of SIIB, we were taken on an Outbound trip to "Surya Shibir". The trip involved a lot of adventurous and team building activities which definitely served as an ice-breaking session. All the activities stressed on the importance of team work. It truly was an exhilarating experience for us. We returned with more friends-bonds that can get only stronger with time, completely charged up to take on the rigors of MBA life at SIIB.

Looking forward to spending the next two years at SIIB, which could be nothing else but a fruitful and satisfying experience!

After an exciting and fun couple of weeks at SIIB, things began to pace up when the interviews for the various committees at SIIB started. The students at SIIB have a plethora of committees to choose from, depending on their interests and where they see themselves in the future.

Some of the committees at SIIB are-

· PlaceCom- Corporate relations cell of SIIB

· AlCom- The Alumini Committee

· PR and Media Committee- Handles Public Relations and Media related aspects of SIIB

· Students Activities Committee- Handles the various extra curricular activities of the college

· Web Development team

· SportsCom- Sports Committee Kshitij- The social initiative wing of SIIB

· Ignisense committee- Handles the organization of the flagship event of SIIB- 'Ignisense'

And many more....

All these committees have something in store for everyone and by being a part of them one can explore oneself beyond academics. They would definitely contribute to the all round development of a student and he can learn management beyond the four walls of a classroom. It's indeed a fortunate thing for the students that SIIB realizes the importance of this and gives it as much priority as academics.

An interesting read for all the students aspiring to pursue International Business studies!

The 'Know your Interest, Choose your Specilaization' drive was conducted for Finance on the 8th of July 2014 for the 2014-16 batch of students. The session was conducted by the PR and Media Committee, primarily for the benefit of the students to help them understand what Finance as a specialization can offer them; the prospects the job profiles and the projects.

The session saw an overwhelming response from the 2014-16 batch of students and they all went back with more clarity on how Finance specialization will suit their career aspirations and the prospects it has.

Kudos to the speakers from the senior batch who took time off their busy schedule to guide their juniors in one of the most crucial aspects of an MBA, that is, choosing the right specialization.
