MICA Ahmedabad | MICAT | MICA MBA Admission - PaGaLGuY

Anyone interested for ge practice. We will make a groupof 6-7 people and do it daily. Interested ???

Hey admin I have 5 months experience so should I fill it in sop form?plz help me

Ā A doubt-
I have around 29 months work ex in Tech Mahindra and 4 months of work ex in a small company (Article writing/SEO/Digital Marketing). In the sheet it is written that only companies with more than 6 months of work ex will be considered. In that case should I mention my second work ex? Or should I omit it altogether? kindly help me out. ThanksĀ

Can we write about summer training programs in companies in the section of training programs attended?

For the question about strong likes/ dislikes what do we need to mention....any trait about any person/our self that we like/dislike or any hobby or any particular thing?

Is it necessary to fill all the 3?

Ā

is there any info on this year placement stats??

There were 14 people who were divided into two groups of 7. I was in Group-2.

Design a jingle on the topic ā€œKhelo Indiaā€

The group was well coordinated and I and another guy made a poster that was in the background while 3 others performed the main jingle. It was a combination of rap and songs (which was basically poetry). There were two musical instruments provided which we used in the beginning. I also kept the time and helped the main performers while rehearsing. Overall it was more or less satisfactory.

<My interview went on for at least 40-45 minutes. I loved interacting with the panel and even if I do not make it, I will cherish this interview forever.>

Three panelists, one ma’am, another most likely a professor (old) and another might be an alumni or from the industry. Let’s call ma’am as M, old professor as OP and the middle aged person as AL.

Entered the room and greeted all three of them.

M: So Biswadeep, how was the GE?

Me: Ma’am it was fun and I enjoyed a lot.

M: So what did you do? What was your contribution?

Me: Explained.

M: So what if the jingle was aired on radio? Your whole contribution was nothing then?

Me: Explained how the whole group did not take into account as the team was equally divided on creating the chart and making the jingle.

M: Don’t you think that it’s strange that your contribution was nothing?

Me: Explained how we all planned out thinking it to be visual.

M: So you did not assume the leadership position?

Me: (Was honest here) Told that another boy assumed the leadership position.

AL: If you had to choose two persons into MICA, who all would you choose?

Me: The one who assumed the leadership position and the one who wrote most of the jingle…

AL: And this is you being honest?

Me: Yes sir.

OP: There were musical instruments right? What were they?

Me: Sir I don’t know their names.

<Me, OP and AL went into a conversation about what those musical instruments were called and ultimately it was put to rest.>

AL: So, tell me how could you have improved the GE if you were to do the activity again?

Me: As ma’am said, I would incorporate the musical instruments in a better manner so as to make the jingle sound good on radio.

<All of them seemed convinced>

OP: What is misophonia?

Me: Sir it is a psychological disorder that invokes a fight or flight response to certain noises. Mentioned how I faced difficulties while studying for CAT and other management examinations. Also included I am doing guided meditations and that it has been in control now.

AL: So you could have used ear plugs?

Me: Yes sir, I did but then when I went to give the exams the sudden change in atmosphere hampered my performance.

OP: So Biswadeep, you have mentioned Ragging and Drug Abuse in your dislikes…

Me: Mentioned some incidents I faced in college to add on to the dislikes.

OP: So tell me how could you prevent smuggling of drugs?

Me: Sir on the border? People generally smuggle drugs through the border.

OP: Tell me what measures you would take to secure this hotel.

Me: Mentioned about implementing sniffer dogs as they smell out drugs better than most equipments which might not always detect drugs.

<Mentioned by taking an average of 3-4 sniffer dogs which might be increased during the festival period so as to make the process smoother. Here OP tried to confuse me by mentioning the number of entry points and queues and stuff>

OP: You forgot the kitchen.

Me: Yes sir, the kitchen back door.

OP: For a technical guy, your analytical skills are weak

Me: I decided to be fully honest here and added yes they are weak and mentioned my LRDI percentiles were low in CAT. <They were shocked, they did not expect this.>

OP: LR what?

Me: Sir Logical Reasoning and…

<OP joked that like I have problem with sounds, he has problems remembering abbreviations and terminologies, I smiled>

AL: So you write SEO articles?

Me: Explained about freelancing.

OP: So when is keyword stuffing too much?

<OP again confused me by mentioning relevance and how too much stuffing can be relevant too. Finally I said that the keywords that were given to me were in phrases and using them too often would be grammatically wrong.>

AL: So what makes MICA different?

Me: I started by mentioning about the annual revision and updation of syllabus in consultation with managers…

AL: Where did you get this information from?

Me: Sir the MICA website.

Al: Are you sure?

Me: Yes sir (smiling)

AL: MICA is a marketing college; will you believe everything that is there? (All of them laugh)

Me: Sir that is the first point of contact for me.

AL: Why? You have Facebook, Pagalguy and alumni.

Me: Sir very recently my grandfather died and I did not have the time to go through all of them…

AL: Sorry to hear that.

Me: Thank you sir.

AL: How does MICA’s website vary from other colleges?

Me: Told them how there was a plethora of information about the college, course and curriculum which many colleges did not have.

AL: So do you think too much information is a bad thing?

Me: Mentioned how it is not bad and that people can find what they are looking for if the information is out there.

AL: What do you want to change about the website? (MICA’s)

Me: (smiling) Nothing sir.

OP: Tell us why we should not take you.

Me: Told. One point was procrastination.

AL: Procrastination or just lazy?

Me: The engineer within me kicked out and I smiled and said both

<The very instant I said that the ma’am started laughing loudly and the others joined in.>

M: You’re laughing and saying both?

<Someone I don’t remember who, but someone said that I was honest about my weaknesses and the other two agreed smiling continuously>

AL: So you write, you’re creative. Why come to MICA?Ā

Me: Explained how writing was my hobby and I wanted to do a management course

AL: Why not do media management?

Me: Told them my interest was in marketing

M: Arre, he will be a nice brand no? Writing and stuff.

AL: looking at OP- Haan he’ll be Chetan Bhagat, using marketing knowledge to sell books, at least MICA waale to kharid hi lenge. Looks at me, No?

Me: I was smiling, as usual the entire time and told AL that writing was a hobby and I do not want to take it full time.

OP: Academics toh waisehi gaya tumahara, I know you’ll come for extra-curriculars (I tried to mention MICA’s student committees but was cut short before).

AL: Asked me about Pulwama attacks and what y opinion was about the same.

Me: I told them although any attack is not justified but the fact that a country is constantly trying to hurt us is also not right and that in the future fruitful talks should be there.

OP: I am Imran Khan and you’re Narendra Modi, let’s discuss about the same.

<What followed was OP banging me with questions and retorts, I too tried my best but he went into industrialists dealing with arms and then I backed down, as usual smiling.>

AL: Aise desh ka PM hoga toh desh gaya (They all share a laugh.)Ā

OP: Now tell me why we should take you?

Me: Sir the point that I mentioned why you shouldn’t take me is also applicable here. <In the answer to why they shouldn’t take me, I mentioned that I cannot come up with creative solutions on the spot and here I mentioned that given time I can come with an out of the box solution for a problem>

OP: Suppose you get an ad mentioning they need content writers, would you take time in answering?

<OP as usual confused me and finally I cleared that if they were to ask for samples, I would give them then and there but if they were to ask something to write I would take time for the same.>

AL: Ok what next?

Me: Mentioned my previous managerial stints.

OP: Asked me what my content writing company’s name was and how was I different.

Me: Mentioned that during that time how the write-ups which were available at a lower price were bad in quality and how my service even though cheap did not compromise on quality.

AL: What other calls do you have?

Me: Mentioned.

AL: If you get calls from all colleges which one would you choose?

Me: (smiling) Sir, MICA.

AL: How is MICA’s course different (or something along these lines, I don’t remember…)

Me: Mentioned how MICA in spite of being a marketing focused college, had Cost Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Finance so that students can get an overview of the entire business itself.Ā

OP: Asked me what a log line was. When I said I was not aware gave me an example. It is basically a one line summary of something.

OP: Tell me the log line of a recent story you wrote.

Me: It was a science fiction story and I started describing some scientific things

<OP interrupted me and told me to explain like he described. I asked for some time and he gave it to me though asking me to be quick>

Me: Explained

<OP seemed satisfied>

M: Accha, tell me if you have done any social contributions?

Me: Told them about my internship and volunteering experiences in several NGOs and what I did there. I started mentioning about the street dogs that I took care while my stay in Hyderabad but was cut short in the beginning.

M: Tell me what do you think about the CSR activities? Should companies spend money on tasks which the government is supposed to do?

Me: Told her that it is the duty of every individual to contribute towards the society but major corporations often focused on promoting their own products. Gave an example of when I was in Tech M and went to CSR activity, people who did not know about computers were given software training, mentioned it should be a holistic development and such.

OP: Have you heard of Srijan? It’s an NGO

Me: Yes sir I have heard the name but…

OP: Why didn’t you volunteer there? They take writers…

Me: Sir, all the NGOs that I volunteered for did activities like fund raising and content making for children, had I known such an NGO is there that takes writers, I would have definitely applied.

AL: Any questions for us?

Me: None sir.

<As the interview was done and I was about to leave OP asked me about my title and how I got it. Explained and the interview was done.>

Hii.. I've got a call from MICA and my interview is on the 17th of March. Could someone guide me through the Group Exercise process?

Any fellow aspirant whose interview didn't go like a "typical MICA interview"?

A lot of people were saying that the interviewers seemed annoyed and uninterested. Just need a little heads-up if this is true.

Expected result dates?

My GDPI is on 17th 8:30 am, when will the process end? because i have to catch a train back.
