My Life as a Bank Officer

I would outline a few issues in short that po's face

1) Work Timing
2) Transfer Policy
3) Risk of handling money and staff accountability
4) real scorn of clerks fleeing away while we are slaughtered
5) ego issues
6) Scale Problems (i mean seniority, respect(regard),)
7) Targets/ Work pressure
For B.Tech ppl special classes that how we rob the bank and how we are being given opportunities

I would like to outline the +ve side too

1) A job that we have dreamt (seems much long ago when i see my friends tgt_09)
2) respect in general(we feel some happiness when our friends say isko job milgya)
3) some kind of pay

Ultimately Bank Jobs are not what it used to be..........

didn't get ur point tht how btech ppl rob d bnk.n get oppurtunities...explain!

Been a Probationary Officer for quite some time now, have been through the grind of coping up with different push and pulls of this place.

I have adjusted to this new environment.
My working hours are not limited; I step into the branch at 9:30am and on an average reach home at 8:30pm(we once worked past midnight too!). With some Sunday workings thrown in, at times its a seven day office for me.

But being posted in one of the remotest corners of the country, I usually look forward to being in the office

Till date I have laid my hands on most of the Operational areas.
In due time I look forward to handle Govt Business, Electronic Fund Transfer, Advance and Clearing.

Life's Good

I have even heard tht sm branch managers make u stay till 8pm even wen there is no wrk!

Ya thats absolutely correct and damm irritating...

Well i was thinking quite long ago to post my experience as bank employee in this thread, today i find suffice time and opportunity to do so..

Myself lokesh solanki
B.Sc Agri from TNAU,coimbatore, belongs to bikaner,rajasthan

The tragedy starts after medical when all the 15 guys who had medical in jaipur zone got home posting and i was the alone to get other than home zone
i got rajkot zone and that was totally unexpected...
I shocked with this and i talked to GM-HR mr.R.K.Goyal over this issue...but that was not a healthy conversation from either side....

so i reported on 7th of october in rajkot zone in JMG Scale-1
i was alloted sultanpur branch...a damm remote area where there is no facility to stay there..
all my staff is residing 35km away tehsil-Gondal
me too got room in gondal and daily i have to travel 70km
well i am already 1000km away from my home

coming to branch working env
In my branch we are having 2 persons in scale-2
2 clearks, 1 peon and one casual worker
the work pressure is not much but i have to leave my room at 8am and daily m returning my room after 8pm only..
its sucks..
even saturday also its 8am to 7pm...

Both the managers are well experienced and having exp of more than 20 years in bank of india, but both of them are full frustrated with the bank job...

They are advising me to switch for any other job or to do MBA from a recognized institute,,,

Well thats damm true now..
within one month what i came to knw tht v are the damm less payers compares to other in govt sector even we are working more than them
and there is possiblity of pay hike of not more than 5000bucks in the next revision which is damm short than our requirement,....

Well in brief i can say that this job is good for starting ur career but can be long term for only them who can live happy with this less salary and more time consuming job..sorry for that,,

well m seeing for some other job opportunities while working in bank,,,
As i told earlier My coaching batch for IBPS students gonna start from wednesday as i love to teach students...

All the best for everyone..
SOmething is better than nothing and that is bank job.

If U r an Officer U will have to relocate , coz transfers take place every 3 years..

If U r a clerk then there isn't any transfer ( However there may be Intercity transfers )...

Don't worry the poor condition of PSU Bak's HR policy is soon going to improve and we might see sunny days in near future...

14500 basic
52% da =7540
HRA=6.5%=942.
Total =22982

now tax deduction=1450
PF contributon=2300
Guj govt tax=200
Association tax=100

So in hand=18932 only...

Petrol 25litre as i am in rural posting
newpaper allowance=250
cleaning =500
enternainment=250
Total=1000+1775= 2875

So total u will get 21807 including petrol and HRA

From next month onward DA will be around 60%
so it will come around=22790 including petrol, hra, newpaper, cleaning and entertainment allowances....

Well to be honest as i got info from my scale-2 and seniors here..
forget about HR in Bank of India...
There is no such word exist in Bank of India as HR ....
More than 80% staff of Bank of India all over India is angry due to the worst HR polices...
promotion policy is okey as there is staff shortage and opening of new branches..

But in exact word---If are having Good Jack in Bank then u will get good posting in Bank of India otherwise God only can save you..
M sorry for bit offensive but its the bitter truth i experienced here...

Regarding experience... everybody has said almost everything.....
and for the same reasons I resigned on 07/05/11....... I was PO SBI(General) 2010.... One reason was also that i got Ahmedabad circle, which is a deficit circle, and thanks to the circle policy of SBI, which won't let you go back to your home state....

hi puys i am gaurav working as agri field offi in bank of maha .my salary structure is as follows
GROSS SALARY - 24,300 appro
Petrol - 1800
news paper - 150
Halting - 6000
Total - 32,250 only

i thought sbi is awesome heard about 40k +. but ur reignation is confusing me . i joined iob po two days back . pls shed some light on renumerations.

Resigned while taking a risk that I have to clear SSC CGL 2011, and get a 4600 grade pay job. I already had been selected in Statistical Investigator (not a very good one in SSC CGL 2010, 4200 grade pay), with posting in delhi....... this was the only risk that i took, as there is no guarantee that you will clear a competitive exam..... But I was adequately rewarded, as i cleared SSC CGL 2011 written..... Have already given the interview.... now waiting for the result,.... and meanwhile i doing my job also as Stat. Inv. which I joined 2 months back.... kaam chal jata hai yaar...
in short Remunerations are as follows:
In SBI
Basic : 16900
Gross: 25341
in Hand after deducting EPF PF : 20917
+ HRA+ News paper+ TA(Petrol)+ Entertainment etc.
I never claimed these allowances as I knew I had to resign very soon. But SBI mein total remunerations 30+ (after deductions) to aa hi jate hain
In Central Govt., via SSC
Jobs with 4200 Grade pay:
total salary: Rs. 27908 (in Class 1 cities)
In hand : 25490

Jobs with 4600 Grade pay:
Total Salary : Approximately 35000(in class 1 cities)
in hand salary : Rs.32000 (approx.)

But bank PO's salaries will be revised again in november next year,.... so my decision was not based on salary, rather it was based more on psychological and subjective topics like working conditions, place of posting etc. as i have already mentioned...

I am on the verge of completing graduation and aim to become a PO but I am seriously discouraged after reading all the sad experience stories of so many Bank POs. Is there really no upside to becoming a PO?

I always thought it would be a great job. I have no worries about relocating to another circle away from my home but the prospect of having to work 12+ hours daily from Mon to Sat has dampened my spirits a bit but its not the end of the world. Also the horror stories of corruption in office leading to honest POs being chargesheeted is seriously discouraging.

This thread truly needs some positive experience stories from Bank POs to give some encouragement to us budding Bank POs.

Guys, Please stop crying on this thread. You are welcome to share your experience but you have no right to scare other aspirants. In today's world there are challenges in each and every job. No job is a cakewalk neither private sector nor public sector. There is no perfect job. There is workload everywhere.
