No the answer as per CL is 6...

It is asking for the digit at hundreds place or the third digit from left...
What is the digit at the hundredths place of the number N = 45^36 ?

(1) 1 (2) 0 (3) 6 (4) 5 (5) 7

it should be 3)6

expand binominially

hundredth digit of even power ending in 5 is 6 .. hence the answer

didnot get the question,
:(

i had checked it again my answer still is coming out 1..
my approach is that i had checked it for some terms and it is resulting in the conclusion that for odd powers of 45 the the hundred's place is 6 and for even powers it is 1..correct me if i am wrong..

when u will get a number after multiplying 45, 36times what is the 3rd number from the last..means units,tens and hundreds..
so the question is asking for the hundred's place...GOT IT??

u r saying correctly wrong answer

5^4 = 625

5^3 = 125

which is odd and which is even.. hope that clarifies

Hi Naga...Can you explain a bit more?

Also can't we solve this using Euler theorem?

yes checked it done a silly mistake..

45^36 = (40 + 5)^36 = 40 ^36 +....... + 40C1*40*5^35 + 5^36

all terms except last term will have 3 or more zeros

question reduce to finding last three digit of 5^36

5^3 = 125

5^4 = 625

so 5^odd has 1 as hundredth digit

5^even has 6 as hundredth digit

hence answer is 6

What is the digit at the hundredths place of the number N = 45^36 ?

(1) 1 (2) 0 (3) 6 (4) 5 (5) 7

my approach- we need to find

or last 3 digit of 45^36
so 5^36/1000 gives 125
and last 2 digit of 9^36 =41
41*125=5125

last three digit 125?

m i corect?

Answer is 370
What is the digit at the hundredths place of the number N = 45^36 ?

(1) 1 (2) 0 (3) 6 (4) 5 (5) 7

45^36 mod 125 = 0
45^36 mod 8 =
5^36 mod 8 =
25^18 mod 8 = 1
125p = 8k+1
k = 15p + 5p-1)/8,==>p = -3
remainder = -375 = 625
hundredth digit = 6

is the answer d)70?

how do we know that the 2p consists of only powers of 2 and 3 as factors.cant 2p be in the form of 2^1 3^1 5^6 ----->2*2*7=28

answer is not 70 but 370 but explain the process plzz
