taking the case of XIMB, last date to withdraw is 14th June thats when the classes start. If all premier colleges have it why not TAPMI..even IIM's have it the same way

everybody is placed.that is for sure.... had tapmi done the same thing it would have shown 70 or even 85 companies...apart from the cream colleges hardly students have an offer in excess of 1 !!

Guys everyone is individually stating their W/L nos and asking their chances without even referring to the previous pages. There are 800 people in the current W/L and if everyone keeps on asking it will clutter the thread and be a mess and important queries may be overlooked by the seniors because of the clutter. One needs to know that W/L movement cannot be predicted.
I'll just post what a senior had posted:
W/L 1-300 Very good chances (probably a 100% convert)
W/L 300--500 decent chances
W/L 500 + one has to just wait and watch, don't lose hope.
If you don't have a W/L no. that means you don't feature in the 2nd W/L and MAY feature in 3rd W/L (if it comes) but chances are really low and sorry to say but you are ALMOST not selected. Still keep in check.
Please keep a regular tab on your email ID, as a confirmation email can pop up anytime. Also please secure a seat in your next best option if you are having doubts of conversion.

hey guys,

I was surprised to see only 55 companies came 4 recruitment this yr...
din look like a good number to me...coz there were more number of companies recruiting even in the clgs that are ranked lower than TAPMI??


May be due to a rural campus. Companies spend a good chunk of money to visit a campus and recruit. If they get the similar talent nearby then why to go to far east.

I am wait listed at 596..and aware of the fact that I have to wait for a miracle to convert.But still the question is why there is so much hue and cry about TAPMI,specially after seeing this yr placmnt reoprt.44% IT/ITES recruitments...with typical service companies recruiting with an avg of 7.5-8 lakhs.I am passionate about consultancy and FMCG sectors but they are 9 and 8 % each.And if i am not wrong these jobs must be taken by the top rankers,so overall if i c i am paying 12 lakhs(10.5+1.5misc expenses) and most probably landing into a typical Indian service based company offering a pckg of 7.5-8 lakhs.The same one can easily get from any other college with less fess...so why TAPMI...my motive is not to disappoint the others who have already converted but to think twice befr spending 12lakhs.A packg of 7.5 lakhs in any IT company will fetch u 52-55k in hand and if u are going to get ur full fee financed be ready to pay 20 k as EMI for 7 years ,so u will be earning net 30k after 2 years,equal or lower than to many of us current salary.I was really passionate about TAPMI and rated it very high as I could get median salary on its website but was amazed and taken a back as the same was removed for this yr


Great maths! I have spoken to a few people in the industry who recruit from TAPMI, and developed the same apprehension. No doubt most of the products of peninsular and Delhi-NCR B-schools are into IT/ITES, but then this sector requires a greater lot as well. 50-55K a month after 2 years that you can get without an MBA as well and mind you these typical service stations have a fixed system of increment thats a mere 5-10% annually (until n unless your CEO's daughter falls in love with you). But then again choice is in your hands no one is asking you to do MBA (I am thinking about the answers we give to WHY MBA? during interviews ..such a brat we are!) .. you have the whole curry in front of you, you know how it tastes but then to have er not is your take. I too wanna get into consulting (quite obsessed with McKinsey). PM me we can always have a talk as we have similar situations (I am also waitlisted #500ish) and work preferences.

Well on the no of companies i wud say that firstly TAPMI cannot show companies which haven't picked up any students coz TAPMI is a member of Indian Placement Reporting Standards..So dispel ur doubts on placements data part. If 55 companies have recruited all students for what reason will they call more companies..got the point..

Now abt this 1 offer per student point...many colleges have this..yes many from Top 20 of India, wnt wanna name them here..So TAPMI also did this maybe coz economic scenario is down so jobs are few. Once global economy gets better we mite see that this 1 student 1 offer wala scheme may go away..

Dude if u wanna enter Mckinsey then dnt cum to TAPMI or for that matter even IIM-I,K, FMS or SPJIMR & so on..coz Mckinsey recruits only from ABC, XLRI,ISB & recently 1 or 2 from L also...

That's true and no one denies that but even then my statement talks about location disadvantage only, and that still and will exist. That's it. There's always a bracket among recruiters in which they divide institutes as per their maths and intuition. If I had to pick up a management student and my Head Office is in Mumbai, I'll obviously look for students belonging to the institutes of the same bracket, so my cost is reduced. Simple! We all know about global economic scenario, but then its common for all institutes and individuals. Not only selected institutes taste the strike of lightening due economic melt down. Sorry if i sound cynic or controversial, it was purely on a discussion basis. We all know location factor will and does has a role to play.

I know man, and that's a big concern for me. Even Bain doesn't visit. Damn it. And it doesn't even look like coming. But then its all about options for both the parties. I hope my obsession leaves some space for me as well. I love the war between Bain and Mckinsey.

Well, I do have some more good info that can be good for amateurs but then my ideas might sound a bit violent to a few people and I don't even want to discourage anyone as I myself am an aspirant but doesn't wish to be a part of mad rat race. We can talk PM me.

People its a major concern as U will have new IIM's declaring the result in May...n many colleges will have there wait-list movement going on till june 1st week.

hello,

the following are my background details:
Xth: 87%
XIIth: 85% (science)
Graduation: 87%- Btech- completed in 2011
work ex of 1 yr (having been working since aug 2011)
Cat score: 82 percentile.


I had appeared for the gd pi process for tapmi. I did get selected for the Gd and my interview went extremely well according to me. even the interviewers seemed pretty impressed. Also my extra- curricular profile is good.

I have been wait-listed 774. Do you think there is any chance of conversion? I am interested in pursuing pgdm in marketing.

Kindly help.
