The programmes offered by IIFM are for those who are environmentally and socially conscious. The Institute prepares environmental and development sector managers who are prepared to face the challenges that the country faces in terms of climate change, environmental degradation and social inequities. I am President of the Alumni Association and all that I am today, I give a lot of credit to IIFM. I strongly recommend candidates who are feel for the country and the nature to apply.

IIFM is very good sectoral institute. The course during my time consisted of two field trip experience and one internship experience which was very helpful to gauge your interest. Some of the professors are experts and well known in their field. Hostels and other classroom infrastructure is quiet good. Library have most of the necessary subscriptions to the scientific journals.
IIFM is an excellent choice for those who choose to make a career in natural resource management and allied sectors. With a background in healthcare, the move has been deliberate, and I can say that this has been the best choice for me. IIFM campus placements, in addition to being 100% can land one into a dream-come-true job. The opportunities are limitless, and one can make their hobby and passion into a full-time paying job. On the contrary, if you are not into environment or nature or sustainability, think again before getting into this field; or maybe you will develop an interest once you are at IIFM. The faculty (and the campus) here are excellent at awakening your inner natural instincts to appreciate nature. That said, IIFM offers a future in consultancy, banks, and multiple other sectors. Like any other B-school, the course is holistic, covers all aspects of a typical MBA, and a significant amount of the core natural resource management topics. The recent change in the curriculum increases the studentās exposure to the industry and real time working conditions. Altogether, IIFM made my career and hope it does the same for you.
IIFM provided me with a perfect blend courses from both sciences and social sciences, gifting me with a very different outlook to approach a problem. Now I can see a problem from different angles, analyze a situation in a very different manner and equipped me with several tools and techniques.
IIFM was an ideal institution for me. By design, IIFM treads the much needed middle path. The obvious one is between forestry and management. Within forestry, thereās technical forestry and rural development approach to forestry. There is also the one between conservation and industry. Finally, there is non-profit versus for-profit approach to development.
Given this, the course design and the overall exposure of an IIFM graduate is extremely diverse and rich, making us fit for leadership functions in a wide range of organisations, which is quite visible in multiple sectors.
I am from the PGDFM Class of 2000 and my career journey has taken me across healthcare segment, mostly across corporates and briefly in consultancy.
The rigour and the structure of the course with its community and Organisational immersions has helped me quite a bit in my initial years post the course. In the long run, IIFM helps one consistently appreciate the fact that we are part of a larger society and ecosystem. Responsibility, sustainability, empathy are some traits, which an IIFMāite gets to imbibe very early and is so important as one climbs up the ladder in the latter part of his/her career, where governance and ethics become all the more prominent.
IIFM is a magical place to be, for its courses, infrastructure, faculty and all other activities. With two highly relevant courses - PG Diploma in Forestry Management and PG Diploma in Sustainability Management, it is the place to be if you wish to pursue a career in Environment and/or Climate Change, Social or Rural Development, Sustainability/ESG - sectors which are expanding in scope every year. The PGDSM stream is relatively new, but like PGDFM, students have found takers in the industry with 100% placement. Many alumni from IIFM have opted to join the corporate world and made a mark for themselves even there. I would say that IIFM is a great sectoral management institute, which prepares you for the world of work.

Well, it depends on your interests. If you are keen on a career in the environment/development space, then I would say IIFM. There is no other institute which offers a course in Forestry Management; IIFM is one of a kind in the whole of Asia perhaps. On the financial aspect, the fees are far lower at IIFM.
Hello everyone. I am Omkar from PFM 2010-12 batch.
IIFM introduced me to environment and natural resource management and the knowledge and skills I acquired here enabled me and many others from the institute to adapt to the changing demands of the industry. It also has an excellent network of alumni who are not just leading in the environment and forestry domain but also in banking, finance, academia and government services.
Today, sustainable development or ESG have become buzz words and all the leading b-schools are offering courses in these fields. At IIFM, these subjects were always ingrained in the core pedagogy and have guided the graduates from the institute to not just understand and apply these newer ideas but also contribute to their evolution and development of Sustainability Management as a discipline.
The field visits and summer internships are designed to give you a glimpse of real world and help you take informed decisions about future career choices. The campus, with all its natural endowment, offers an excellent environment for learning. One can always find gateways like nature trails, sports, online gaming and other extra curricular activities for fun and to build your CV. You can also get enough sleep after classes, if that is what rejuvenates you.
To sum up, IIFM is neither āsectoralā nor a āb-schoolā. It is a unique experience!
I am from 1998-2000 PGDFM batch of IIFM. I preferred joining IIFM over other management institutes as the course curriculum, the promise to learn management with forestry, the opportunity to spend time in one of the most beautiful campus, the opportunity to travel across the country through field trip, Organisational Training, Forestry Sports meet was motivating enough to confirm my choice. Today, 22 years after passing out from IIFM I can very proudly say that the institute has helped me immensely to perform brilliantly in my professional career. At present I am in the process of establishing a social enterprise after spending 18 good years in rural development sector and I acknowledge the institute for the learning which gave me courage to take this decision and move ahead in the entrepreneurial journey. I see the same connect with IIFM 22years after passing out and am sure it will remain forever.

Hello all,
I am Yogesh D Jadhav from IIFMās PGDFM 1998-2000 batch.
Sincerely, in my opinion and experience, IIFM is a very unique MBA-granting institution, offering quintessential courses related to environment, forestry, natural resources management and allied fields, in addition to honing up your skills and imparting domain knowledge on the traditional business management subjects.
I joined the course in 1998, simply because of my love for the natural environs, and an urge towards doing social good. And thereās been no looking back since more than 2 decades.
I was able to chart my career path in my area of choice (forest management, research, and societal development), have worked in academics and consulting, and am now heading an award-winning non-governmental organisation as its COO.
In my experience, IIFM is unique in that you get exposed to cross-cutting subject knowledge domains, multidisciplinary career paths, in addition to pursuing your core interests in diverse areas, and you can easily shift gears, and enrich your career and experience whenever and wherever you choose.
So all of you aspiring IIFMights, guys and gals, do go for it, and hereās wishing you good luck and great successes!
