@CAT13Phodunga bhai time is best........i joined time in july 2012 bt only attended class for 1 mnth aftr tht i hd to shift to another city due to some personal reasons n thr ws no time coaching center.....so the only option left is to join ims......which ws the only coaching institute for cat thr.........n trust me ims is a total waste.......see the standard of their study materials... n the faculty thr knws nothing .......he can only solve ques frm ims materials bcoz the soln book ws provided to them.........he taught us number system for 15 days in 3 mnths fast track batch........2-3 VA class , 3 LR class n hardly 2-3 DI class........n he simply misguided the students.......bt i hd the time study materials which helpd me a lot........time study materials r far better than ims........he totally left out PnC n probability.......wen i asked him to teach PnC n probability he replied to me tht " I cant teach u those chapters bcoz i myself cant solve questions frm those chapters " latr he provided us a part time faculty for teaching PnC n prbability , who taught us those chapters like a 12th class students n nt like CAT aspirants.... the VA classes were scheduled for weekendsn the VA mam used to abscond the weekend classes twice in a mnth ........hardly 3-4 RC's done in the class...........thr's only 1 faculty in tht ims centre who used to teach us quant, LR n DI.......n he didnt knw anything abt analytical reasoning .............wen i startd taking the test series of IMS ie simcats , the questions of the simcats were like a big surprise for me........bcoz we hd never solved such questions in the class.. luckily i hd time study materials n arun sharma books , so i startd preparing myself n i only used to go thr for taking tests n nthing else...........CAT2012 totally wasted
@Abir1103 : Thanks dude!! it is not my first attempt (98.8 percentile last attempt 😞 no iim a, b c l call).. Have tested Time..IMs...Byju..and all thos so called big names.. got a chance to attend few classes in Alphanumeric last yr and in jan this yr but left before paying the fees :P
Althogugh not a big shot like time ims cl....but that guy was awesome nd passionate as far as quant and DI is concerned (Nitin if I remember..but couldn't afford to pay at 3 different places...) but the pain was no VA teacher and I needed somebody who cud help me in VA and GD-PI. and yes attended one lecture by Kumar in alpha numeric (iit bombay alum. with 7-8 yrs corp. experience..probably Nitin's frind)..he was too good in motivating and finding me the right answers as per my profile and strengths...at par with Malla Ray if not better :P
But still want to try some specific faculty and institutes...any help will be greatly appreciated!

@anurag610 im appearing for cat13 and my academics are so so im in my 3rd year ritee now and also im an oc so what percentile is required for me to get a seat in iim's?? and can u tell me about howw to prepare??
@CAT13Phodunga CAT 2012 ws my first attempt .......i ws unable to secure good marks in VA section.... my problem is only VA ......the first thing is tht i didnt hav sufficient time to prepare for VA ..only 2-3 mnths....n VA needs practice . i only attemptd the RC's in VA section n tht too 7 out of 9 questions n 9 LR.........n this happend due to poor coordination n ridiculous teaching technique.....the only way to improve VA is lots of reading n practice......this yr only 8 mnths left now n i thnk its enuf to do tht.......
@Combater If u don't mind me answering, based on ur profile, u'l get the following calls on clearing the cut-off [assuming u are general & male]--->
A- 333.70 (which is probably 99.87+)
B,I,K,S- very little chances
C- on getting 99.61
L- 99.5+ will be safe (anything less than that may be tricky as u'l be getting 0/5 for NOT being a girl or non-engg)
new IIMs--> anything >97 (ur strong work-ex is a huge bonus here as they have an inclination for guys with substantial work-ex)
Other great institutes which are at par with most IIMs, if not better, are FMS, MDI, SJMSOM(a score of 99.5+ will basically cement your seat as they give HUGE weightage to CAT score & ur work-ex is gonna be a major boost), NITIE(if u get 99+, then u are 90% sure of getting a convert), IIT-D(99.2+). Considering ur substantial work-ex, u may try out Great Lakes as it is basically for experienced guys like u ONLY (a GREAT chance of converting if u indeed end up getting 99+).
If u are looking beyond CAT, there is XLRI (the great one), IIFT, TISS (very good), NMIMS & SIBM-P (they should be ur back-up option).
So as u can see, there are a lot of options. I absolutely salute you for having the guts to take such a big risk & being so sure about it BUT if u are gonna risk that, u should aim for something higher than 99%ile as considering the ridiculous criterias & the skyrocketing cut-offs of the non-IIMs as well, 99 may fall short if u are aiming for the top 10-13. Best of luck in ur valiant effort :)
@CAT13Phodunga : Dost I think u have no idea about new developments in Alphnumeric, guess you left them even before trying one VA class :P
There were 3 guest faculties throughoutlast two years , who themselves scored 99.99 percentiles during their CAT and XAT exams. Having said this, if you really want to see how easily you can improve your VA and specially Vocab, must attend 1 demo by Rahul Sir in Alphanumeric. Trust me the innovative way Rahul sir (although he is new to the CAT world probably) is using to teach Vocab will change your perception about Alphanumeric by leaps and bounds. Rest is your decision and I might seem little arrogant but even if you Join TIME or CL, please stay there for sufficient time to pass a judgement.
