How to write an academic dissertation

Many people believe that completing an academic dissertation is a long, planned process that can take years. This is a common misconception.


A well-researched academic dissertation usually takes about a year to complete. As the title suggests, it is written on a topic and researched in depth to give the best possible results.


To better understand what it takes to write a dissertation, you must first consider your dissertation topic. The field of study will determine the length. If you are interested in writing an academic book, you should follow other works in the same field and compile all the information into a coherent, well-written dissertation.


For example, if you are writing a dissertation on a specific topic such as ancient Greece, you should research the historical, sociological, and political aspects of that era, among other things. As you read the topic, you will need to compile your findings and give examples of what you have learned.


The topic you choose will determine the main factors you use as research material.
