Hey puys, received many messages from fellow puys asking about Life at IIM Asr. So thought of sharing this.
IIM Amritsar is one of the most happening management institutes in the country. Within a short span of one year only, IIM Amritsar has not just established itself but has started showing the signs of a leading business school in the country. Students are housed in a luxurious apartment where all the amenities like sports, gym etc are in place. After the inauguration, there is a welcoming Freshers Party for the PGP batch which gives a chance to informally interact with the entire batch together and the first Freshers Party was super fun in a pub.
Academics play a very important role here at IIM Amritsar and the case studies, assignments and projects form a major part of curriculum. Students study in state of the art classrooms and are taught by top class faculties. Students actively engage in classroom discussions and also get appreciated by the faculties when the session benefits the entire batch. Sleep is a rare commodity here and hence students don't miss a chance of taking power naps in between the breaks to keep them awake for long heavy lectures.
To support their understanding and to bridge the gap between the industry requirements and the academia, Industry Interaction Cell conducts the industrial seminars by industry stalwarts on a regular basis. An annual management conclave 'A-Square' is also the part of this program where the industry experts come and discuss in a panel about the industry demands and how can an institute like IIM contribute to the society. Students' learning is also fostered by the field plays and simulations. The standard of IIM Amritsar is well accepted by the industries and that is why big corporates have offered hefty packages for the summer internship program to the candidates.
Extra-curricular activities form a major portion of learning at IIM Amritsar and a number of clubs and committees like Media cell, Sports Club , Design club , Industry Interaction Cell, Placements Cell , Hostel and Mess council, CSR club, Students Council , Cultural Committee etc. are there for overall development of personality. These clubs conduct a variety of activities. A food festival is organized by the Hostel and mess committee for all the food connoisseurs. KRIDANSH, Sports Committee of IIM Amritsar organizes events throughout the year on campus. KRIDANSH is responsible for selection and constitution of various teams for different sports. The institute has a vibrant sports culture thanks to the Sports Committee which maintains cricket, volleyball, badminton, hockey, table tennis, football and other indoor sports equipment. Since the world of sports is a lot like business; there is training, competition, wins and losses, passion, hard work, therefore, KRIDANSH promises to cater the sporting needs of the student community. CSR committee is running a lot of great programs and the worth mentioning of all is Akshardan, where students teach the unprivileged kids of an Orphanage and help them in their education. This initiative of IIM Amritsar has also been appreciated by Delhi University. IIM Amritsar students take part in various national level competitions and win great prizes. Recently a movie making competition organized by IIM Udaipur was won by IIM Amritsar and emerged as the first runners up in an Ad-Mad competition organized by Delhi School of Management.
Students at IIM Amritsar also understand their duties and responsibilities towards the society and have pledged to devote at least 100 hours in a year to Swachh Bharat Mission. National festivals are celebrated with great pride. All other festivals are also celebrated with great fervor and the birthday celebrations are also no less than festival here. Students also do not miss any chance to go on an outing to make the experience more memorable.
If an institute is in a holy city like Amritsar then life in the campus is bound to be happening. There is never a dull day at IIM Amritsar !!
Are the public sector banks also recruits from IIMs campus?? I saw some names in summer placements of newest IIMs. Are they recruit in final placement also(in other IIMs). If yes then What profiles they offers?
