IIMB says matching data not found / not shortlisted.
What could be the reason for rejection? :(
Hi,
CAT 2018 - 99.9%ile
Non Engineer(Commerce)
Sectionals - 99.88/97.9/99.79
10/12/Grad - 95/95/72
Workex(Ongoing) - 17 months
IIM B - Not selected. Any way to check composite scored?
I recently realised that I have incorrectly mentioned my graduation percentage as 84.5% Instead of 84.4%. Will this be a concern ? If so how do I correct it ?
My current Work Experience as of today - 18 months.
Out of the 2 Recommendations needed I am taking one from my current Manager.
The other one, should I take from my past manager in a different company - Qualcomm where I interned for 3 months about 2.5 years back. (this recommendation would be more personal and highlight my work) (problem is the duration here)
or should I take from a Proffessor in my college (BITS Pilani) whom I worked with 3 years back . (this would be less specific and personal.) ??
The priority at this stage should be to get your recommendation process started. If you haven't already reached out to people you want to get recommendations from, please do so on priority.
The next thing on the priority list should be your SOP. IIMB interviews are largely based on what you've written in your SOP. Shape it properly!
I have been working as a VLSI design engineer for the past 2.5 years. Got provisionally shortlisted for IIMB. Whom should I get the recommendation from? Since I cannot reach out to my manager or lead here, I am planning to get it from two of my colleagues I have worked with closely over past couple of years. Is that good? Or should I reach out to a professor from college as well and get one from there also? Please help. Really confused about it. Also, in case of colleagues, what should be the ideal work ex/seniority of the one writing the recommendation?
One of the most crucial part of your application to IIMB is your recommendation letter. All PGP applicants must choose an evaluator who can give the admissions team a snapshot of the candidate’s abilities. This evaluation helps in determining whether the candidate is a good fit for the programme.
Who should write your recommendation?
The selection of the evaluator/ recommender is very crucial for the application. Here are some pointers to keep in mind for selecting your evaluator.
Ideally, you should nominate someone who had a chance to observe your work closely in the recent past. Your evaluator should be familiar with your abilities, areas of improvement etc.
In case you are not comfortable nominating your current boss, you can nominate others who have had a chance to observe your working style and personality – previous manager, mentor, client, etc.
If you are in family business or have your own start-up, your evaluator can be a vendor, supplier, client, customer, auditor, banker etc. Avoid approaching co-founders or blood relatives.
It is impactful to choose an evaluator whose performance has been impacted by the work you put in. His/her inputs will provide deeper insights.
What kind of questions are the references expected to answer? Do they have to write a letter of recommendation or answer specific questions? Also will we be able to see the answeres given by the references?
I am planning to get one LOR from a colleague in my department. With regards to the 2nd LOR, is it recommended to get it from a college professor...I passed out of college in 2016 and am not really in touch with my professors. Or would it be better to get the 2nd LOR also from a current colleague?
Can we submit the names of the referees at separate times? For eg: I submit one name today, and the referee starts to work on the recommendation and after a couple of days i decide and submit the name of the second referee?
