INSTRUCTIONS FOR ECONOMICALLY WEAKER SECTION RESERVATIONS IN CAP-2019 PROCESS
The participants of CAP-2019 process (CAT-2018) conducted by following IIMs shall be subjected to reservation for Economically Weaker Sections of categories not covered under existing scheme of reservations for admissions from the academic year, 2019-20 in accordance to Article 15(6) of Constitution of India inserted by way of The Constitution (One Hundred and Third) Amendment Act, 2019:

- IIM Jammu
- IIM Kashipur
- IIM Raipur
- IIM Ranchi
- IIM Rohtak
- IIM Sambalpur
- IIM Sirmaur
- IIM Trichy
- IIM Udaipur
To avail the benefits of reservation under this scheme, the process is as follows -
- The candidates have to explicitly opt for EWS Reservation in EWS Reservation Eligibility Form, by logging into https://cap2019.iimranchi.ac.in/. If the candidate fails to opt for this reservation in the EWS Reservation Eligibility Form by the due date (01.05.2019), it will be considered as waiver. The candidates who have opted for reservation in any of the category under CAT-2018 will be considered for that particular reservation only and are not eligible to apply for EWS Reservation.
- Upon selection, the candidate will be required to produce certified documents of proof of family income and other indicators of economic disadvantage at the time of admission in the participating IIM, as per Govt. of India/MHRD/MSJ&E orders issued from time to time in this regard.
- The ten participating IIMs will be deciding individually the seat matrix for reservation to EWS and other Categories for the Academic Year 2019-20.
- For the purposes of reservations under EWS category, the criteria mentioned in O.M. No. F. No. 12-4/2019-U1 issued by DoHE, Ministry of Human Resource Development read with O.M.F.No.20013/01/2018-BC-II issued by Ministry of Social Justice & empowerment, Government of India will be applicable to define Economically Weaker Section which is as follows -
- who are not covered under the existing scheme of reservations for SCs, STs and NC-OBCs
- whose family has gross annual income below Rs. 8.00 lakh. Family for this purpose will include the person who seeks benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years. The income shall include income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession etc. and it will be income for the financial year prior to the year of application
- whose family doesn’t own or possess 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above;
- whose family doesn’t own or possess Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above;
- whose family doesn’t own or possess Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities;
- whose family doesn’t own or possess Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities
- The above mentioned (refer points 4.1 to 4.6) income and assets of the families would be required to be certified by an officer not below the rank of Tehsildar in the State/UTs. The officer who issues the certificate would do the same after carefully verifying all relevant documents following due process as prescribed by the respective State/UT.
