Last year (2021) the GEN WL barely crossed 50/60. Why are such large waitlists being prepared ?

This is wrong. According to the RTI, 1329 students were offered in GEN in 2021. Surely, that is easily 200+ in WL. With the batch strength being 360 from this year, I am sure there will be a lot of WL movement

Hope it does. I was referring to 21-22 discussion on this forum itself. Btw what was the buffer number last year ? And why WL movement in 20-21 was shown as last years movement in candidate’s dashboard ?

Hey! Are waitlisted candidates counted in buffer calls? Can someone explain how exactly buffer calls work and what is it’s impact on waitlist movement?

At least 10 times of the actual number of seats are offered to candidates in the anticipation that not all of them will take admission. This happens in the first list for most if not all CAP IIMs due to large number of common candidates. If seats still remain vacant or falls vacant, are later offered to waitlisted candidates.

As per available data, IIMT called 1400 (including 800 GEN, 300 OBC, 125 SC) for 230 seats (93 GEN) in the first list (2020) itself.
