Hi there, let me clear your misunderstanding. Lovely Professional University (LPU) is a private university nestled as a closed campus in Phagwara, Punjab. It has neither any affiliated college nor any other campus. However, LPU does have many offices across the country and globe. The university was established in 2005 by Lovely International Trust, under The Lovely Professional University Act, 2005 (Punjab Act 25 of 2005) and started operation in 2006.
At LPU there are over a hundred student organisations and dozens of clubs that one can associate with. The purpose of student organisations is to provide a structure through which students may exercise their right to freely associate in pursuit of a common purpose or goal that enhances the community. Recognized student organisations create opportunities for leadership development, learning, student engagement, and fostering of shared interests.
All recognized student organisations are expected to uphold University policies and procedures and always act in good faith when conducting organisational business. Further, recognition does not imply that the University assumes liability or legal responsibility for the actions of any group.
Recognition of a group does not deprive the University of any of its rights to act for the welfare of the community. Continuation of recognition is dependent upon the fulfilment of intent and demonstrated ability to abide by the organisationâs constitutions and the Universityâs educational purposes.
The organisations at LPU are formed under various heads, namely,
- ACADEMIC & TECHNICAL
- AGRICULTURE
- ARTISAN
- AYURVEDA AND YOGA
- CAREER-ORIENTED
- DISASTER MANAGEMENT
- ENTREPRENEURSHIP
- ENVIRONMENT, FOREST & RENEWAL ENERGY
- FITNESS THROUGH NATURAL REMEDIES
- FOREIGN & RESEARCH EDUCATION INITIATION
- HEALTH AND SANITATION
- HOBBIES & RECREATIONAL
- LITERARY, MEDIA & PUBLICATIONS
- LPU CHAPTER OF INTERNATIONAL & NATIONAL STUDENT ORGANISATIONS
- SOCIAL
- WASTE MANAGEMENT
The students can choose the organisation of their interest and register with the DSA, which is the Division of Studentsâ Affairs, and engage in various activities related to the club or organisation. One can even start oneâs own. The only condition is that the organisation proposed should aim at supporting the intellectual environment of the university with disciplined terms for the enhancement of individual personality in pursuance of true knowledge. The organisation must have support from the teacher, members of the administrative staff, and other University Officials.
Such clubs make you creative, open to new ideas, improve your communication, are an escape from the monotony of classes, help you make new friends, and have fun in general. Which at later stages in life play a pivotal role in tackling day-to-day issues.
