Chances?
Hi, it usually take 15-20 days to get a PI call.
BITSoM evaluates an applicant’s overall profile. While your cat score is lower when compared to last year’s median of 94 percentile. You can cover up for your cat score with your profile (extraordinary achievements) and essays.

Your work ex will definitely give you diversity points and will help cover up the cat score. You can definitely try applying.
Thank you Suvam
Would you be able to give range of cat scores that got admits last year?
@Suvam13 @Harshahn I submitted the application form on 27th January, when can I expect shortlisting mail for the PI(or next phase)?
There is no point of doing an MBA degree for 24 lacs during this pandemic time unless it’s IIM A,B,C or ISB . Also BITS Pilani has failed to live up to its brand value at MBA domain . So they have just rebranded their MBA program with some investment . Noone even knows what will happen to placements . Don’t fall into these traps . Appear for CAT again & target top 20 colleges in India
Ahh, so all those who have been getting placed from other colleges have not made their lives better? Maybe there are a portion of students for whom it hasn’t been great but for a lot of students, it has improved their lives. There are a large number of us who despite our best efforts have not got our desired score.
It isn’t easy for everyone to wait one year to give the CAT, especially since a large number of B-schools (other than IIMB, GLIM, BITSoM and ISB) don’t like too much work ex or whatever the reason an individual may have not to give it again.
We are not compromising by taking the next best choice but we are improvising on the choice we have. Some give another shot, some take admission. Don’t negate an entire cohort of colleges and their students because they didn’t transform people’s CTCs to 24-25 lakhs. For many of us the opportunities and doors that are opened after these B-schools are significantly better than what we have now.
So do us a favour, stop spreading negativity and making people feel even more discourage about their choices. Those of us want to study here are making the choice consciously.
Disclaimer, I am a current student at BITSoM. Before analyzing your comments logically, I would like to state that I agree to certain points in your comments, however the overall judgement is flawed at various levels. I will try to be as open as possible to respond to your post. Here it goes -

There is no point of doing an MBA degree for 24 lacs during this pandemic time unless it’s IIM A,B,C or ISB - Yes, there are the top tier B-Schools in India and will continue to be so for a long time and not everyone gets into A B C and ISB due to various factors not limited to low scores, admission criteria, no work ex, etc. Also, in the end you switched to top 20 B-Schools even after mentioning the elites of the industry in the beginning. There is a huge difference between IIM A and 20th rank B-School in various parameters. A significant downfall in the choice of yours, given that covid is the only reason for not choosing other top 16.

Also BITS Pilani has failed to live up to its brand value at MBA domain . So they have just rebranded their MBA program with some investment - BITSoM hasn’t been only rebranded. It is a separate entity with different board of governors, administration and infrastructure. And it is true that BITS Pilani’s Department of Business Studies isn’t as popular as IIT B, D and KGP (if we talk about technical institutions). Hence a separate entity with specialized focus and new setups to enter into the MBA education industry. BITSoM surely is built on the legacy of BITS Pilani, but is on its own way to create a brand of its own.

No one even knows what will happen to placements - A fair idea can be drawn from the internship report. The kind of roles and companies we got puts us easily above all the new IIMs in terms of roles and at par with top new IIMs in terms of figures. With respect to placement, yes no one knows how it will be, but definitely it is providing a platform where you get access to a larger network of people in industry in the form of mentors, professors and consultants who not only teach in colleges but also are part of corporate industry. With a small and initial batch, the access to these resources and focused attention is far more than most of the institutes. So even if there is uncertainty to outsiders, the first cohort and administration has high level of confidence of a fairly good placement, even for the first batch.
Hence if your judgement is based after the interaction of students and Admission outreach, the current offering may be below par for you. Else, we can assume it is a rant about every new product which you are not aware about. -
Don’t fall into these traps . Appear for CAT again & target top 20 colleges in India - It is a new B-School and definitely needs some level of advertisement and promotions. It is understandable to have low level of trusts on such methods in education sector. I would recommend you to talk to people who actually know about it. Now, I do agree there are certain challenges in running a new B-school specially when the expectations of the students are high and it needs intends to be a top tier B-School. Apart from the factors such as placements, quality of batch, diversity, alumni, fees, etc. which candidates look at while choosing a B-school and those that frames the image of the B-school in the market, factors like publications and research also matter in the ranking of B-school. While I can say that it takes much more time to build the later than the former, the administration has already a plan on these lines which are being implemented.
The intention here is simply to address your negative comments and not to promote BITSoM. I believe any student choosing a B-school is a mature to take decisions for himself/herself.
Peace out
- Any interview transcripts? I tried on gmatclub and telegram but couldn’t find.
- Scholarship % figures and how many are awarded?
- Yeah the interview transcripts haven’t been shared on any social media platform as far as I am aware of. Having said that, last year most of the interviews majorly revolved around the profile, essays, generic MBA interview questions and went around 30-45 mins. Additionally, you can connect with the students of founding batch and ask them about their experience.
- As far as my I can remember the range of scholarship awarded was from (15% - 100%). Can’t quote an exact number as I don’t have an idea, but at least 1/4th of the batch received a scholarship.
hope it helps you
Cat percentiles ranged from around 80 to 99+ last year
It usually takes 15-20 days
You will find interview experiences of admits on gmatclub - search for admitted profiles BITSoM.
As far as scholarship amount goes - It ranged from 15 to 100 percent for my batch.
After getting 98.11 percentile in CAT and an admit from 20+ B-schools including the likes of IIM Shillong, all new IIMs, SIBM, MICA and IMT I chose to go with BITSoM and I am really glad that I took that decision. The faculty, the student life, the summer placements, the batch quality, the curriculum, the accommodation - the whole experience has been completely amazing and way above my expectation. I have got some great opportunities - like working with the dean on a real business project, working with a nation wide NGO on a live project and I will be soon working with Landor & Fitch on a brand consultancy project. Some of my batchmates will even be working for Nivea, Google, Big Basket, Coca Cola, HUL, Nestle, Pidilite, Bain, EY Parthenon and Hershey’s just to name a few.
So before you make such comments I would advise you to back them with facts.
I submitted my form on Dec 3 2021. When should I expect PI call? Or my application is rejected?.And document status in my dashboard is still showing status as “in progress”.
