[Official] NMAT 2015

Generally what is the approximate cutoff to expect for nmims mumbai?

A tip from personal experience, if you are keen on NMIMS do appear for the exam three times, scores do change drastically based on difficulty level of paper.

Are the scores across various slots during the entire window normalised based on the difficulty level?

I had my NMAT today, and since many people are looking for a comparison with the mocks, I'll try to provide one, with all the mocks that I took.

As far as the actual NMAT goes, here is my experience.

QA-

The section had almost 50% weightage to DI & DS.  DI was highly calculation intensive, though DS was very straightforward.  Pure Quant had very basic questions and almost 20 were sitters, but I felt some questions had unnecessarily long calculations.  I had to leave more than 10 doable questions since they would have taken too much time.  I found it better to do quant based questions, even if they came at the cost of DI.

LR- Set based questions were somewhat long, requiring more than a minute per question, but were very doable.  Situation based reasoning wasn't very ambiguous and was easier than in most mocks. Venn based questions were also easy and not time consuming. I was able to attempt about 35 questions, guessed 5.

VA- I'd say both the RCs were easy to moderate level. Cloze test was also simple, as were the grammar and fill in the blank questions.  In Vocab, 2 words that I know of, were repeated from previous days. Options were extremely helpful in para jumbles.  Every single question (except vocab, which I suck at) could easily be narrowed down to 2 options.

1) GMAC Mock (249, 83C): Obviously the closest one to the actual NMAT, especially in terms of QA. I'd say QA was pretty much a replica of the actual exam, in terms of difficulty as well as distribution. DI, again, was very irritating. I spent too much time on DI in the mock, and ended up screwing quant completely. I knew better than to do that in the actual NMAT. I solved 2 -2.5 sets and guess marked the remaining sets fully, and moved on. I found GMAC (and actual) DI to be the least doable among all tests that I took. In the GMAC, I found the LR to be significantly simpler than the actual exam.  I got 30 correct.  GMAC verbal was also very comparable to the NMAT.  I got 25 correct.

2) Test Funda (216, 72C): A very lenghty quant, and a somewhat ambiguous Verbal.  Ironically, I got 34 correct in quant but messed up the other two sections.  QA and LR can be compared to the actual exam, but I didn't find the verbal to be much similar.

3) AIMNMAT2 (261, 87C) & 4) Oliveboard NMAT1 (264, 88C):

I found both these tests were very  similar in almost every aspect. QA was easier than the actual NMAT in both the exams, especially DI.  It was possible to attempt 43+ in QA in both these exams.  Verbal and LR were quite similar to NMAT.

5) Bullseye Mock 1 (252, 84C) : The QA section was way too easy to be real.  I finished it 13 minutes before time.  Good for practice and confidence building.  Can be skipped though.

6) AIMNMAT 1 (231, 77C):  QA and DS (not DI) of this exam were somewhat similar to the NMAT.  I found the LR to be pretty long, especially the set based questions.  I took this exam lying half asleep on the bed, so I don't remember much 😛

If I have to rate the mocks, in terms of closeness to the NMAT, I'd say:

GMAC > AIMNMAT 1 = Test Funda >  AIMNMAT2 = Oliveboard >> Bullseye

P.S. They don't let you take your own pen/pencil to the hall. Instead, they have those erasable notepads, to be written on with sketch pens. This approach, in my humble opinion, is a serious pain in the arse, given the condition of my hands barely 15 minutes into the exam.

Puys, from where should we practice NMAT logical reasoning questions? I have a TIME logical resoning book. Is it enough? Pls suggest.

How difficult are the mock tests(sectional/full length) of CL when compared to others and to actual NMAT. I gave a sectional test in verbal and scored 66 while in one LR test scored 87.

I need advice. Had my NMAT exam today and totally screwed up quant. Since it was the last secrion I attempted, I totally lost track of time and because of my stupidity, even after the "5 mins left" notification kept trying to solve questions instead of marking all answers. I mustve left 10-15 questions unmarked! :'( should I retake the exam?

For people who plan on asking me questions about the paper or difficulty - honestly, I'm too dazed and disappointed in myself  to remember anything. Really sorry! :/

In how many days do they declare the result ? I appeared for NMAT today.

Guys who have already given the exam, why don't you post all those antonym synonym questions here..... as many as you remember. It may help us.... 😛

Puys.. Help me out with the strategy here for NMAT.

My strategy is as follows:

1st section: QA

In this I try to do the maximum sums as possible. I try to select and identify doable sums first. Some DI sets are pain in the ass so I attempt them (Tukke), mark them for review and go to the next sums. My weakness in this section is probablity, DS and functions.

2ed section: VA

I try to do as many as possible. There are generally two RCs in NMAT of 400 words. I try to do the maximum problems in sufficiency (12 minutes) and RCs in last 10 minutes. The problem is that I get varied score in this section. My RCs are sometimes all right and sometimes many questions get wrong. Weakness is word usage and I would consider RCs a weakness.

3rd Section: LR

This I would consider this as my ok section. I try to maximize the score in questions which I can get or am confident to get under a minute and by attempting them first. Input-output questions continously haunt me and they are my biggest weakness in this section, In others I do well.

I wrote my first NMAT mock of CL two days back. Got 198/360. CL mocks are easy or not, I do not know but I didn't find the level too easy.

What should I do or how should I vary my strategy to do well in NMAT? I have to hit gold in NMAT because it will be my season opener and having one confirm seat if I score 225+ will only boost me.

Suggestions veteran and amateur  puys......

Did anyone try the 2nd GMAC mock? How much did you score?

Career anna or olive board , which will be worth full in terms of closeness to real nmat  ...?  Pls suggest

How difficult are the mock tests(full lengths) of Mindworkzz(Arun Sharma) as compared to the actual NMAT. I scored 162/360 in the mock NMAT by Mindworkzz.

puys do anyone else also facing problem while scheduling for second attempt....?

With 5 DI sets in quant section in my today's first nmat attempt, i am totally screwed. :/

Like who gives  5 DI sets in quant?! better name it Data interpretation instead of quant. 😛

I have a doubt. I gave my nmat on 8th October 2015. So since we can give it three times. When can I book my next slot? I have heard several things.. Idk how true they might be... But can someone just let me know... Can we book now? Or when ?

all here guyz please post the antonym synonym or analogy,as i have last years four window's word will post it

Hi, what is the duration of a examination window in  nmat?

Which window will be ongoing, for october 3rd week? window1 or window2

testfunda NMAT is shit. quant is nowhere near NMAT. i scored 195. kya matlb.

I want to know do we have to register for nmims seperately also....
