WL 61 General. Any chances ? Converted NM with merit list 51. Dropping it as it is very costly. Only hope was SIBM and now it is 61 WL General 😢

It is said that second merit list will be out by Mar14. Since SIBM Pune being the 1st college to release final converts. Assuming that waitlist moves only if the selected people choose better college than SIBM Pune. And No other top tier B-school is going to release its final list by March 14. Any idea How fast the Waitlist moves!!?

2) Does the change in waitlist movement vary substantially every year (if we consider the trend for the last 3-4 years)?

I'm unable to understand the waitlist movement figure of 150-160 given till last year. If that is the movement after the first list for the second, then it is a huge movement and many more students would move up the list. However, if this denotes the figure of the final convert then the movement is indeed very slow and people having a waitlist of max 200 and above stand little chance of making it.
Although the parameters for judging everyone seem to have remained the same, (Puzzle, WAT, GD/GE and PI) there seems to have been a variation in the marking scheme, thereby making a difference in the listing.
However, no amount of speculation will actually resolve the doubts in our mind as it may not be possible to reveal the actual info due to certain constraints which are understandable. The best thing forward would be to confide in the admisssions team and have full faith in their selection. A merit rank does not warrant proper selection, neither does a waitlist mean an improper selection. While it may seem unjustified to us, we must remember that we are, after all, aspirants, and no amount of self-doubt or any external suspicion should dilute our aspirations of making it to a prestigious institution. Agreed that there are many points to argue in favour of and against this, such as resigning from a job, or having taken the risk of losing a year. But all said and done, in the end, it was we who took that decision and we must now abide by the results that come our way.
