Here is my take on 1st year going completely online at SJMSOM:
1) Possible hinderence to summer placements: Almost all the good companies at SJMSOM, come only for summer placements. Atleast 40% of the bacth gets PPO. Imagine everyone sitting for the finals in 2022 for the limited opportunities. (Reminder: SJMSOM has not achieved 100% placement this year)
2) No interaction with batchmates: Most of the learnings in MBA happen during class participation and discussions among batchmates. Online mode cannot achieve this objective.
3) Access to IIT-B infrastructure: Obviously, can't get it online. Who knows, whether the situation will improve when you reach second year. You might end up getting MBA from IIT B without even visiting the campus for 2 years.
My suggestion would be to skip IIT-B, if you have better options (IIM-K, I, MDI, NITIE, SPJIMR). Or keep working in your current job if this is your best convert and try next year. If you don't have a job and this is your best convert, take a leap of faith and go for it. Prefer SJMSOM over new IIMs anyday. Don't waste a year.
I am alumnus of SJMSOM and have friends who have graduated from B-Schools in same cohort. So I know a thing or two about MBA in general and SOM in particular.

I hope this post finds you and your family in the best of health! Here are a few updates for you all -
1) The revised fee structure is now out officially, and the semester fee has been revised so for the converts from 2nd list, the new fee will be automatically reflected on the portal and will have to pay the same
2) All those who have already taken a seat in the 1st round itself, you'll be receiving an update from our side very soon as to how to pay the withstanding amount to IIT
3) We would also like to clarify this to everyone- Since SJMSOM is based out of Mumbai, IIT went ahead and stated the worst case possible that is having the entire 1st academic year online but if the situation gets better, there's a definite chance that IIT would want its students to join back on the campus. IIT believed it's their moral duty to get the candidates who are planning to invest their 2yrs with them, know beforehand what could be the future course of action for them. Hence, it went ahead and stated the same well in advance
4) We'll also make sure that the new batch joining us this year doesn't miss out much on either of the fronts- right from Induction, clubs, and committees interaction to placement activities, along with academics of course. 😄
