Hello Ms Bharucha.
My profile is as follows.
Academics: B.Com (Hons) II Class, MS (Finance) from ICFAI. Currently pursuing Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Certification from Global Association of Risk Professionals, USA.
GMAT: 680
Work Experience: 3 years in Investment Banking and Research (1 year with an Independent Research Company and other 2 years in a globally renowned Investment Bank). Got a promotion in my current company once. I plan to apply by 2008-end or in 2009.
Extra Curriculars: Good extra-curriculars...professional astrologer and Vastu consultant, have been consulting for the past 7 years, got professional certifications in Astrology and Vastu Shastra. Have an NCC "C" certificate in Air Wing. Involved in various social service projects.
I want to know how would I fare if I applied for a 2008-end or 2009 intake. What are the chinks in my armour? Where do I lag and what needs to be done?
I am actually worried about the II Class in my graduation. Please provide me an unbiased feed back because I read somewhere on this thread that Ist Class graduation is utmost important in SP Jain.
Regards,
Tumtum.
Ms Bharucha, plz answer my query. You answered everyone's query except mine. The query is as mentioned in the inset.
Regards,
Tumtum.
Hi Ms Rutty Bharucha ,
I am quite interested in the IT specialization of the GMBA preogram.I am an engineer having distinction in 10th and 12th and first class in graduation.
I am currently having an experience of 1.5 years in a reputed MNC.
However my CAT percentile this year has been just 75.I'm still waiting for the XAT results.
Would be greatful if you could tell me if i should apply with the CAT score or not.
Also I wanted to know what is the average/mean/highest salary offered to students of IT management course. Also what are the job profiles that are being offered. Will a prior experience in this field make me eligible for the lateral placements.
Thanks in advance for your guidance.
Dear Rutty Bharucha,
First of all I would like to thank you for this wonderful support. I am very much interested in applying for SPJ Singapore / Dubai.
My CAT Score in 2005: 94.8 percentile. XAT score in 2005: 96 percentile.
I am Mech Engineer with 70% aggregate in my engg acads. I have 83 perc in 12th and 85 perc in 10th std.
I have decent extra currs including being member of student placement committee in college, have won prizes in quiz competitions, dumb charades, have also presented technical papers at state and national level.
I was selected by Reliance during my campus interview in college and I am working with them since last 3 and half years. Currently I am deputed in London as a Procurement Manager. Due to this, I could not appear for CAT this yr. However I did write the XAT exam when I went for a short vacation back to India.
As you can make out, my current position in my company is pretty decent.
Just wanted to have your guidance as to which college is more suitable for my sort of profile
Also are there any lateral placements in SPJ Singapore. Also what is the sort of package does a 3+ yr experience guy gets when he / she does MBA from SPJ DUBAI / SINGAPORE.
I hope you will reply to this loooong query of mine 😃
Thanks in advance.
Cheers!!

Your query regarding the boy-girl ratio is another interesting one.
We try as much as we can to keep healthy balance in the number of boys to girls and so far it has been about 60:40 (boys:girls)
Hope this has sorted all your queries.
hi rutty please answere my question also stated in the previous post

Hi,
I had already applied and filled up the form in November End. I got a shortlisted mail too. but i was not in the town then to appear for the interview at Mumbai as it was on a pretty short notice.
Do i have to apply seperately for the next intake ? or my previous application will be considered since i did not go for the interview?
Please let me know so that i can apply again if required.

Hi
You may go ahead and send in your application. You will not be at a disadvantage becoz of your non-finance background.
Hi Rutty ,

Dear Aditya,

hi i have completed my engg in electronics and instrumentation

since june 2005. so by the end of june 2007 i ll b completing two years

Hello!,
Thank you for a detailed write up about your profile and your keen interest in our programme.
You may go ahead and apply for 2008-09. While by and large we do stress on first class academically we are willing to be a little flexible in the case of certain students who have other redeeming factors to make up for the lack in academics. However pls note that we are willing to bend only upto a certain limit ie. the shortfall has to be by a narrow margin.
Hope this has solved your query.

Looking forward to your reply to this post...also i would like to know that in case i apply for the Jun'07 batch, the course will get over by Jun'08.when would the placements for this batch be held. After jun'2008 co generally placements for B schools are held in Dec.
I think you are misunderstanding. Freshers can draw more than 5.5 lacs but it would depend on the individual and how he/she comes through at the time of interviews. For break up of Indian salaries and salaries abroad you may visit this link about more info on placements:
SP Jain Dubai and Singapore - Admission Queries
I will answer your queries in the manner asked:
1) Avg sals are mentioned on the link given above
2) Avg Indian sals also mentioned onthe same link
3) percentage of freshers would be approx 8-9%
4) Admissions for JUNE 2007 have already commenced you may go ahead and apply. if you are shortlisted you will hear from us in 30-45 days
5) the stream you apply for depends on your area of interest. in certain instances we have also taken engineers into some of our Marketing or Finance specializations.
6) I cannot comment on your chances of being selected as that is a decision only the Admissions committee can take but your profile sounds fine you may apply.
All the best with your application!.
Hello Ms.Bharucha...
I am a fresher engg. graduate(IT) from a deemed university of india...My details in short are
CAT '06 percentile 96.18
Class X 90.00%(ICSE)
Class XII 76.60%(CBSE)
B.Tech 9.01(CGPA)
i have pretty good extracurriculurs as i am an avid quizzer....i currently expect to get to into B-school inside india which pays an average of around 6.5 lacs even to a fresher....i was interested in your school becoz i heard of the 1 year mba and the brand name of sp jain..but as i can infer from your previous posts...though the average salary is in the region of 8-9 lacs for most specializations....a fresher can expect a salary only in the region of 5-5.5 lacs max...and that too averaging out a few dollar salaries after conversion to indian rupees....Please advise as to whether i would be able to draw atleast 7 lacs at the end of the programme
the questions i want u to answer are...
1. average salary of freshers in the batch
2. Average salary of indian salary packages(not US dollar conversions of ppl placed outside india as dollar salaries converted may look high if settled inside india but actual costs abroad are more)
3. Percentage of freshers in current batch
4. When should i apply and when do the actual calls come out.
5.What sort of MBA will suit my profile...(er..not exactly too interested in IT)
6.What are my chances of getting selected(frank opinion plz..)
thank you..waiting in anticipation of your reply
Hello,
pls take a look at the reply to akil_turbos queries as your questions are similar.
thanks
Respected mam , i have same type of questions ----about freshers
can u plz throw some light on freshers admissions and placements
wat was the lowest , average and highest salary for a fresher of finance specialisation........
Hi,
You may go ahead and apply. You may take our aptitude test to improve on your CAT scores. However we have not yet fixed the date for the test and details regarding the same would be updated on our website S.P.Jain Center of Management, Dubai . Singapore in week or 10 days.
You may pls visit our website at regular intervals to know more about when and where the aptitude test would be conducted and the registration procedure for the same.
thank you
Hey,
I wanted to enquire as to when will the aptitude test be conducted by S.P. Jain Dubai and what is the procedure to apply for taking the test?
Also, my CAT scores were pretty poor at 79.25 percentile but i have had a strong and consistent academic record in the past having secured distinction and above throughout my school and college. I also have a decent record in extra curriculars but being a fresher with no work-ex i wanted to know if there are any chances of being able to secure admission for the Global MBA program?
Dear Aaryan,
pls note that you can apply only for one specialization. So you need to decide whether you wish to apply for IT or IB. If you wish to change from IB to IT then you need to send us an email at [email protected] mentioning the same and we will do the needful.
Thanks
Hi rutty
I had a query regarding the GMBA Program of SPJMIR. I have already applied to the GMBA Program by submitting the form online. My apprehension is that while submitting the form, i had mentioned my Specialization as Finance - Investment Banking which is my first preference and IT Management being my Second preference(although there was only one choice in the online form). Since my profile is an IT based one and I have applied for Finance, Will I atleast have a chance to edit the Online form? Hope you understand my apprehension and let me know what can i do regarding this issue as soon as possible.
Sincerely
Rajesh
Dear Veena,
thank you for your msg.
You may update us with your XAT score when you receive it and we will review your application keeping the same in mind.
Hi,
I'm an Engineering graduate with 75% aggregate and excellent academic records in 10th and 12th. And have work experience of 18 months as a software engineer. I have topped my school in standard 10th.
I have applied for the GMBA June 2007 intake through CAT and XAT and have also mentioned to take the aptitude test of SPJain. Unfortunately my CAT result turned out to be miserable. But confident to get a good score in XAT.
Will my bad CAT score be a disadvantage for getting shortlisted ?
Please let me know my chances of getting shortlisted.
thanks and regards,
veena
Dear Niraj,

I really cannot comment on your chances of getting selected as this is a decision of the admissions committee. But i can assure you that your work ex with your father will definitely not be discounted and would certainly be appreciated as long as you have gained valuable skills from the same.
