For NON EWS : Don't do anything, just wait for the results. Don't worry about login in or anything. Keep calm and expect 12.5% seats atleast to be increased this year like in all other institutions so far. For people having 2 quota option, please refrain EWS. Everyone is confused including the admin and there's always risk with new implementations. You'd be in with better chances in your other quota anyway.
I mailed the officials that by mistake, i filled the form with general category and if i can change my category to armed forces.
I got the reply that i will be able to change it once i have cleared the exam. What does this mean ? Can anyone help?
its very hard to get EWS certificte in india better not to apply for this .! govt has to make officers aware that income certificate is different and EWS certificate is a different thing . !
EWS certificate is near impossible to make. Poor implementation and many states hasn't approved it. I called TISS today whether I should apply I'm uncertain and they said NO. I'd rather not apply and hope seats would remain the same. I didn't even feel like applying for a QUOTA in the first place. Don't ruin your chances by applying. Go out and judge for yourself!

Would I be disqualified or considered as General category if I fail to produce the certificate by the time of GDPI?
Hope this may help to clear confusion regarding EWS Situation.. if ur marks cross general category cutoff & EWS category both then at the time of interview,if u r unable to produce EWS Certificate. u will be treated as a general candidate for PIT&PI.However if ur marks crosses EWS cutoff but doesnt crosses general category cutoff then u will not qualify for PIT&PI,if u fail to produce EWS certificate. This is the same scenario that has happened in this year BPSC civil services exam interview(Not for EWS but for some other quota students who failed to produce their relevant certificate during DV at time of interview).Moreover in current scenario it is highely likely that anybody will present EWS certificate at time of interview as 5 state govt which have passed the bill has still to devise the regulations about the procedure of attestation of these certificates.

We would like to inform you all Tata Institute of Social Sciences proposes to implement reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) (as per the guideline and flexibility provided in implementing the reservation by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) over two years), as defined and provided for by the Government of India in the 103rd Constitution (Amendment) Act, 2019.
Candidates who have attended the TISSNET 2019 and belong to general category and are eligible to be considered under EWS, can login (https://appln.tiss.edu/) and apply for the EWS Reservation.
The last date for completing the above process for 2019-21 admission under EWS reservation is 5.00 p.m. on 8th February 2019.
FAQs
Q1) Who will be covered under EWS?
People who are not covered under the existing scheme of reservations for the Scheduled Castes, The Scheduled Tribes and Socially & Educationally Backward classes and whose family has a gross annual income below Rs 8.00 lakh are to be identified as EWSs for the benefit of reservation.
The income shall include income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession etc. and it will be income for the financial year prior to the year of application. Also persons whose family owns or possess any of the following assets shall be excluded from being identified as EWSs, irrespective of the family income.
· 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above
· Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above
· Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified
municipalities
· Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas
other than notified municipalities.
Q2) Who all will be covered in the definition of families?
The term "Family" for this purpose will include the person who seeks benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years.
Q3) Who will certify income and assets of the families?
The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority. The Income and Asset Certificate issued 'by any one of the following authorities in the prescribed format as given in Annexure-I shall only be accepted as proof of candidate's claim as 'belonging to EWS: -
(i) District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/
Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/Additional' Deputy
Commissioner/ 1st Class Stipendiary 3 Magistrate/ Sub-
Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate! Executive

Q4) When will I have to submit or display documents related to EWS?
As per previous trends the document verification happens for the candidates who appear in the final merit list which is displayed after the final result i.e. after TISSNET, PIT & PI process. It usually happens during the month of May. You are not required to carry any documents for the PIT/PI process apart from your Detailed Application Form(DAF).
Q5) Will I be limited to compete from the Unreserved category
if I Choose EWS option?
A person belonging to EWS cannot be denied the right to compete for appointment against an unreserved vacancy. Persons belonging to EWS who are selected on the basis of merit and not on account of reservation are not to be counted towards the quota meant for reservation.

Additionally, don't y'all think it's tad unfair that candidates from only a few states that have implemented the system till date can apply? It makes the final merit list extremely lopsided. I understand that TISS has very limited capacity to do anything regarding the matter since the Circular was a direct Government order, but it's very unfair.

So for GEN(non-EWS) people....if we click on not eligible...it displays you have wish not to apply under GN(EWS)...after again loggin in we can again submit it...is it like this with everyone or am I doing something wrong?
Spoke with the lady from the admissions office.
Asked her if seats are going to be increased to accomodate the 10percent EWS. She mentioned that no new seats would be sanctioned. It means that 10 percent of 68 (6.8 equals to 7 seats) would now be alloted from 34 general seats.
Consequently, we understand from this is that cutoffs for general are going to go high for the only 27 seats.
No clarity from TISS side on any matters. Plus deadline is kept today(8th feb). They say write mails for any query, we will respond soon. The definition of soon is not as per how we expect but as how they feel is right. Even if they do not reply for the past mails should be accepted by the students as they seem very concerned.
EWS reservation can't be applied without increasing seats right?
If I fail to produce EWS certificate at the time of interview-
- I will can still be considered in unreserved category and will be eligible for interview.
- My candidature be cancelled and I wont be allowed to give interview.
