31. “marshalled” is a verb meaning 'to gather up or together'. "marsheled" as a word does not exist in the English language.
“Myself” is a reflexive pronoun and in the case of the above sentence is incorrect.
“Truncated” means curtailed or cut-short and “trenchant” means forceful and keen. If the committee was not prepared, the comments had to be incisive and sharp - not cut-short.
“Militate” means to influence toward or against a change. “Mitigate” means to lessen, weaken.
“Obeisance” is respect and homage paid someone. “Obsequiousness” is an eagerness to obey.
Hence the correct answer is option ABBAA.

32.
“Apprise” is to inform. “Appraise” means to estimate.
“Already” means prior to (already left etc.) “All ready” means completely ready – this meaning fits in the context here. This eliminates options 1 and 5.
“Assent” is to agree; “ascent” means a climb. This eliminates options 3 and 4.
She “felt bad” means she was sorry. She “felt badly” does not have any meaning.
“Backward” means not progressive. “Backwards” means towards the back.
Hence, the correct answer is option BBABA.

33
“Damask” refers to “the pink color of the damask rose” and is the correct word contextually, whereas an “arabesque” is “a pose in ballet.”
“Conscious” is “aware of one's own existence” whereas a “conscience” is “the inner sense of what is right or wrong”. Since the empress confessed, it's clear that she was “conscience” stricken.
“Troupes” are “a company, band, or group of singers, actors, or other performers”. “Troops” are “an armoured cavalry or cavalry unit” – clearly, the force collected was that of “troops”.
“Entranced” means “enthrall, spellbind”; “entrenched” means “to dig trenches for defensive purposes around.” In defense, it would be the latter.
“Palisades” are “a fence of pales or stakes set firmly in the ground, as for enclosure or defense.”
“Palaces” are “official dwellings built for kings.” The former is in keeping with the defense theme.
Hence, the correct answer is option ABBBA.

34.
A “peak” is “the highest point”; “peek” is “to steal a look”.
“Peer” is “to look”; “pier” is “a wharf”. One “peers” through the gap in the door.
“Emigrate” means “to leave one country or region to settle in another”; “immigrate” means “to enter another country and reside there”.
“Weld” is “to join metal by burning its edges”; “welled” is “poured forth”. The old man's tears poured forth as he spoke of his dead daughter.
“Desert” is “a stretch of barren land”; a “dessert” is “the sweet dish served at the end of a meal”. As it was served with chocolate ice-cream, it is a dessert.
Hence, the correct answer is option BABBB.

35.
“When a donkey cries”, it is referred to as “braying”; a “braid” is “a weave of three strands”.
A “cantor” is “a singer”; to “canter” is “to gallop”.
“Callus” is “a hardened or thickened part of the skin”; “callous” is “insensitive; indifferent; unsympathetic”.
A “phase” is “a period in time, or a part of a sequence”; to “faze” is “to disconcert”.
A “moll” is “a gangster's girlfriend”; “maul” is “to injure by attacking”.
Hence, the correct answer is option ABBBA.
