GEM 1 year experience as a CS graduate. Cat overall 97.55 with sectionals 99/86/94 Acads are 95/86/77 Interview went amazingly well. We talked for 35 minutes and the interviewers really seemed satisfied.

P1. How many points does a stress define
P1. Like there are Fx, Fy and Fz, so in stress how many points we need to define.
-After a bit of thinking, told that six are there, three are the shear stress.
P1. Ok good, now why shear stress in xy and yx are taken as equal. Why not 9 are there in total.
-Couldn’t recall but I knew there were six.
P1. Tell me atleast one theories of failure.

P1. So rain drops from the sky, how will you measure the velocity? - thought a bit then said h = v^2/2g so, we can can take out from that Eq. He said its correct.
P1. Why does is not hit us like a bullet if it might have had so much velocity. - because of air resistance and mass of the drop is very less, so the momentum is less too.
He was not fully convinced though.

I said yes and explained the discharge and area velocity relation as it increases the velocity as the area decreases.

Then he asked if it is always true. - wasn’t comfortable answering it.

Then he made me write 2 more eqns. and asked what is it…as it was a mix of X and y, I guessed it to be a covariance. He said yes.
P2. Look at the formula and tell what is the relation between the variance and covariance which is always true. - at this stage I was totally exhausted using up all my mind to recall what I studied years back and said after 2 min that dont know.
P2-Kya management kroge yar, engg ke concepts ni h sahi se. - all my confidence vanished at that point
P2. Ok so where are you from. - was happy answering that and history of that place.
P2. So you mentioned cleanliness needs to be improve, what scheme did central govt. launch for that. It’s quiet famous. - though a bit, then said swacch Bharat abhiyaan, he said very good.
