Guys, what if I'm scoring 2 marks in G.K.?

XAT 2014 - Really tough paper. Hats off to XLRI guys for proving yet again that CAT is nowhere near XAT Standard. But my immediate question is, Was this really necessary ?
Anyways, Solved last 6 years papers and when i looked at this paper i was flabbergasted. Dint do well as prepared/Expected. I hope to get 85+ %ile this time, to atleast get motivation for next time.

My take on XAT - 2014
Disclaimer : Keep in mind i hadn't practiced enough for XAT to claim this analysis to be from an expert but this is my observation on previous treands and my limited level of knowledge 😛
Difficulty : Very Tough
Difficulty compared to other Papers : 2014 > 2012=2010 > 2013
Cut-offs for call :
XAT 2013 : 34% of 91 marks
XAT 2012 : 29% of 101 marks
XAT 2010 : 28%
XAT 2014 (Expected) : 25-26/ 83 marks
My take per section :
QA/DI : Very tough
QA : Had barely 2 sitters in the full paper
DI : 1 DI case-let was mind blowing..other required knowledge in PPP
Expected cut-off : 6-7 marks
Good score : 12-14 for 98+
Excellent : 16+
VA/RC : Tough
RCs : 2 Very tough and 2 tough ones (Reminded me of my CAT day 😁 )
VA : had a few easy grammar here and there otherwise was tough
Expected cut-off : 8-9
Good score : 13-14
Excellent : 16+
DM : Tough
Had 1 CRAZY LR caselet on olympiad (but interesting..solved all 3)
Had 1 impossible Reports caselet 😲 2 pages
Expected cut-off : 8
Good score : 12-13
Excellent : 15+
Overall Take
Cut-off for call (94%le) : 25-26~
Good score : 33-34
Excellent score : 38-40+

How easy was VA today? I am expecting around 9 marks with 14 attempts. Should it clear the cut off for HR? Wasted too much time in quants and manged only 12 questions there too.

After solving last couple of years xat papers I was thinking i'll easily get 95+..
but this paper was so so damn tough.. saala not a single ques from arithmetic (tsd, time/work, ci/si, profit/loss) 😠😟
Band baja diya poora xat ne zindagi ka.. aaj se cat 2014 ka prep shuru..!!!

Was watching "how i met your mother" yesterday, the episode where barney ran a marathon and Ted mentions that it is 42 kms....and as it turns out it came in the XAT gk section....half a marathon = 21....this, i guess, can be defined as good luck !! :))
