XIMB has a 31 year long legacy which constitutes its rich lineage, great faculty members and a diverse alumni base. The institute is known to carry out research and development activities on a regular basis in collaboration with government. It is also the Centre of Excellence in Fiscal Policy and Taxation (CEFT) set up by the state government. XIMB is granted the South Asian Quality Assurance Systems (SAQS) accreditation by the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) and the NBA Accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation for a period of 5 years for PGDM. It is one of the few institutes in the country that offer an MBA degree rather than a PGDM Diploma. An MBA is for those who seek a university programme to get a holistic view of the programme while the PGDM is for those who seek specialization in the area of their interest. Thus, having an MBA degree helps students in the longer run and some recruiters (mainly, international companies) prefer candidates with an MBA degree. XIMB also engages in international exchange of students not only through the college but also student driven committees like the International Relations Committee working with universities like Thunderbird School of Global Management, W.P. Carey School of Business in Arizona State University to name a few. The faculty at XIMB are adept at their fields of expertise and rich in industry experience which is reflected in their teaching methods. They also give regular insights from the industry bringing in contacts from the corporate world and live projects. In the second year, we get an opportunity to do a double major, major plus minor in whichever fields (i.e. Marketing, Finance, operations etc) we would like to gain knowledge and experience in. This gives us an opportunity to gain cross-functional knowledge and explore beyond our comfort zone, a quality required in the corporate world. Taking this decision in the second year seems more logical as we have gotten an understanding of our strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes in different domains. The opportunity of selecting your majors after first year helps the student take an informed decision on the basis of their interest and performance in those courses in first year. XIMB, is known for its extra-curricular/ co-curricular activities. Being a student, I can testify for the fact that the college effectively combines activities and academics into a logical cohesive hole, where we get to learn how to be better managers and put our theoretical knowledge at test. The amount of work that goes on in organising a fest like Xpressions, is humongous and demanding. However, with the guidance of the administration and our seniors, it became simpler. It helps you learn how to strike a chord with the external world. Business conclaves and talks hosting industry leaders from every field are quite frequent in XIMB. Recently we had Shri. Adi Godrej, Chairman of Godrej Group, address the students on our foundation day. Students are also given the opportunity to interact with the speakers one on one if they wish to. XIMB holds a strong alumni base with people at strategic positions in various companies. These business talks help the students increase their practical knowledge with quality industry exposure. The speakers help push the students forward on their growth trajectory by sharing their valuable insights, examples and experiences while simultaneously it helps the college maintain good relationships with the corporate world. XIMB gives due importance to academics and learning through various projects, competitions, case studies, live projects and faculty projects. We get to assist the faculty in their research, learn from their experience, build networks and broaden our horizons. The constant evaluation through quizzes and assignments help us be on our toes. Such curriculum helps the students to easily adjust to the hectic schedule they face at corporates. Moreover, the campus life at XIMB is holistic and complete as it is a B-School that never sleeps!
