Heard unconfirmed rumours that IIM-A is going IIM-B way in delinking the first year of FPM coursework from PGP. I hear the new model may be implemented, as early as from this batch of 2014! If not this year, 2015 for sure!... I know some of the ex-PGPs from IIMs who are applying for FPM (and hoping to save 1 year with waiver) would be disappointed. However for the larger set of aspirants, this is welcome news - especially if you are focused on learning & doing mgmt research, and hate the idea of running the rat-race that prevails in the PGP classrooms.👍

Sir I am just curious to know about FPM at IIM's and other top institutes.I am an MBA aspirant and may be entering research after a few years.I have some doubts.Can you clarify.
1. Is Teaching the only option after doing FPM or there are more options?
2. What importance does FPM's have in the Corporate world and do they end up with heavy pay packages?
3. Can FPM be done part time with stipend?
4. How to identify that we are bound to be researchers?
5. I don't have any IIT's or IIM's in my profile.Does it matter when it comes to shortlisting for FPM graduates?
6. To fully benefit from the program before what age must we pursue FPM?
Now that we are done with our end term exams.... so if anyone with an 'A' call has any last minute queries/doubts or queries about fpm in general, can post in this thread. I will try to resolve it to the best of my ability

I received a mail from IIM Trichy with a TA claim form...but no other information..just the form. No word on short listing /interview.
Have replied to them asking about the interview and short listing, any one else got the mail too?

IIM Raipur FPM 2014 evaluation criteria:
I found very interesting stuff about IIM Raipur FPM short listing criteria through GRE score. It seems that they have used some kind of formula to compare CAT and GRE score without understanding the structure and scoring pattern of GRE. Their cut off score for general is in decimals, as GRE doesn't give decimal scores so its quite ironical. Cut off for some of the category is lower than zeroth percentile as this is not a possibility. It looks like a farce because IIMs gives too much importance to scaling of scores. I would like to request IIM Raipur that if you don't understand GRE scoring pattern than please don't use it.

GRE 速 test scores are valid for five years after the testing year in which you tested (July 1-June 30). Currently, scores earned from July 1, 2008, to the present are available.

The test as mentioned by some is being conducted only for P&IR.; This is a general ability test on the lines of CAT, but much easier. The test has been conducted in previous years also just before the start of the interviews. Candidates who do well in the test are put through to the interviews.

This year onwards, there would be two rounds of interviews. The first round would be an elimination round, the results of which would be declared at the end of the day. Candidates called for the second round would be interviewed on the second day. While the first round would be area-specific, the second round would be a general round.
It has been decided that the total number of candidates across all areas to be admitted into FPM would range from 18-25 each year.
On admission, there would not be any preparatory course as in previous years. However, students would be required to attend mandatory non-credit workshops between two terms.

Tip to reach IIM-A from Airport.
Book an auto at www.g-auto.org and pay by meter (non faulty), with just Rs. 15 extra as booking charges. Else negotiating at the airport is one hell of a painful task.
Or you can book by calling 927-444-4444.
Last time I travelled it took some 150 INR to travel to IIM from airport, but it is quiet a few months back, fare has increased , but paying 250 INR as stated in the supplemental sheets, is still too high.

If one is shortlisted for FPM interview but could not qualify the standard test GATE, then is that candidate eligible to attend the interview ?
Dear Puys, I am through IIMC FPM and here is my interview and RAT experience.
The first round of interview was about 40-50 mins long in my case and was taken by the professors from the area I had applied to. It was a tough interview with questions ranging from really basic like definitions to really tricky. So prepare for everything. It was a stress interview and they did not cut me any slack 😛 But I guess that's what it is all about.
RAT- We had to choose between quant and qual. I chose qual. We had to interpret and write an essay based on a comprehensive writing by a very famous philosopher in 2 hours. Quant people were given 6 math questions to solve in 1 hour. Again, the piece was tough.
Second round of interview was by the FPM panel. They asked me about my research interest, my prior research work, statistics and a few general questions relating to my area. Not a stress interview. It was more of a discussion but some questions were again tricky. This time my interview was about 30 mins long.
