IIMC FP shortlist update: The complete list of shortlists for FPM interviews for IIMC will be out by Feb end as already indicated on the website. These will be available on the website. In the meantime, some groups/departments have released shortlists through individual emails to shortlisted candidates. So far, only Economics, Marketing, Strategic Management and Organization Behavior departments have released their shortlists, rest all are still awaited. So, those applicants for these 4 departments, who haven't received emails can assume they are not shortlisted for those specific departments (this does not mean you will not be shortlisted for other groups, in case you have applied). In any case, the complete picture will be available by Feb end.

Friend... a doubt about FPM in IIM.....I am doing MBA in NIT trichy(Did my UG in BA English literature) and is planning to write cat exam and to join in FPM...Do I have to do 5 years...I heard like if you did MBA, then you need to study 3 years only...isn't?

This is how the interview and test at IIM-C went last year:
Day 1:

In the morning there will be document verification, reimbursement and other activities. Interviews will start simultaneously. This is the first interview and taken by the faculty members of your area. The duration can last from 15 minutes to 45 minutes. Basic questions from your field, your motivation for FPM, current job etc are asked.
In the evening, results are announced. Those who couldn't clear are asked to leave. Immediately a written test is given. There are two papers: one qualitative and one quantitative. You have 5 minutes to read both and choose either one. You have to give back the other paper and solve the one you chose.
I chose the quantitative paper and can tell you how was it. The maths was of 12th level with an addition of matrices. It was on a slightly harder side and only a handful of people chose it. There were questions on calculus, matrices, probability, series etc. Some questions had options but we were a given a separate answer sheet to show all the steps and working.
The qualitative paper had one dense RC on some topic concerning relativity and philosophy. I'm not very sure as I didn't read the qualitative paper. Anyways it was doable within an hour.
Day 2:

The test on day 1 is not elimination round. Everyone is called for an interview on day 2. This time the interview is taken by a group comprising one faculty from each area. This interview is low on technical questions and high on why FPM and why IIM-C? Also be ready to answer whether you have calls from IIM-A and IIM-B. Answer honestly, lying will not help. Give some reasons for why IIM-C. I said that only IIM-C has a dedicated Finance Lab.
Those applying for Finance and choosing the qualitative exam on day 1 were asked about their choice. Here also be honest. They will select you if you give a logical and convincing answer.
After the interview, the final selections were announced in the evening.

It was a great experience visiting IIM-C. The FPM community over there is very helpful. I spent most of the time talking to the seniors and they were happy to answer all my queries
I am surprised to receive a mail from IIM Ranchi today saying that the failed to subimt my draft in the bank as they received it too early( I guess I sent it btwn oct-nov only) so they want me to send a new draft again before they return my old one :( loot lo sb mujhe...garib bana diya
