I need some help. I have been shortlisted for FPM at IIM A in production and quantitative methods with an interview on 31st march. I also had applied for NITIE MBA program whose interview is on the same date. What can be my course of action from here on?
P.S i haven't completely decided whether to go for an MBA or PhD.
Those shortlisted for IIM-K PhD interviews, please keep these things in mind
1. The Institute is about an hour's drive from the airport (40 kms) and about 30 minutes (20 kms) from the Kozhikode railway station. Plan your trip accordingly. Ola/Uber facility is mostly non-existent. Relying on auto-taxi (it’s not a taxi 😊) is the best option
2. Coming via Kochi is not a good idea if you are planning to fly down to Kochi and come till Kozhikode by road. It takes almost 5 hours by road in an AC Bus with virtually no stoppages. Some AC Buses from Bangalore drop you directly at IIMK Gate (Check for Kunnamangalam or IIMK Gate as the bus stop)
3. The distance from the main gate to hostels is approximately 1.5 Kms in a road with several hairpin turns. You can get your room details (for the stay) at the gate itself. Post the entry at the main gate, tell the auto/cab guy to drop you in the hostel
4. Climate is humid during April and the ACs remain switched off in non- session. So, plan your clothing accordingly
5. Stay in hostel is comfortable but not luxurious. So, in case you are not comfortable with sharing your room or sleeping sans an AC, it is advisable to book a room in any city-based hotel. Also, IIMK charges for the room (unlike other IIMs), so you can actually explore this option. It takes 30-45 minutes (via road) to come to the campus from the city
6. Follow the instructions that the FPM office sends via e-mail or else you would be frantically searching for stuff like printer room, photocopying facility etc. They are very particular about what documents (and how many copies) they want and how it should be order-sorted
7. Unlike other IIMs, you may not find many senior FPMs around to guide you on the day of the interview. The process is conducted by the FPM office and they have enough people to manage the process efficiently.
8. There will be an informal one-hour session that will be conducted on the previous day evening (in all likelihood). It will have people from across the batches.
IIM Udaipur sent a Marketing Selection Process update stating there will be an interview + a model/framework critique wherein we need to analyse a report and we will be graded on our depth of analysis and written skills. Can seniors please explain this further, what is the report like and how to prepare for this round?
Hi folks, I have calls so far from IIM Udaipur and Indore in Marketing. Anywhere else, maybe tier 2/3 colleges or new IIMs, that I can apply to for a good Marketing PhD to improve my chances this year? Specifically in Consumer Behaviour.
