Friends, I have a problem, understanding Question 27,28 (Chapter 3: Averages LOD III). Here question asks to find minimum possible value of B's Average. Having solved the previous problems, my logic entails following operations:
1. Our first priority is to maximize C, therefore maximum of sum of 5 (A,B) i.e. max(110,155)=155 shall be transferred from B to C and minimum sum value from C i.e. min(130,165)=130 should be taken off from C. Subsequently, C's max. average is given by (900-130+155)/30.
2. Now, in order to minimize the value of B we must take off maximum from B and transfer back minimum amount to B. Since, 155 is taken off already to maximize C now, I assume that C gives 130 to A and for B's loss of sum for transferring 155 to C, A gives it's minimum i.e. 90 to B. Making min. average of B as (625-155+110)/25=25-65/25=25-2.6=22.4. Here answer given is option (c) i.e. 22.6.
3. Consequently, my answer is wrong for question 28 as well. (I hope it's due to my thought process in previous question.)
I'll really appreciate if any one explains the right approach or points out my mistake.

This is a caselet from Averages, Arun Sharma , page 111.I am looking for the method to solve the 48th question pertaining to the case on page 112. Have reproduced some facts of the case. Runs scored / over in diff styles : D- defensive, N - normal, A - aggressive D N A Tendulkar 4 6 8 Ganguly 3 4 5 Kumble 2 3 4harbhajan3 4 5 Srinath 3 4 5 Yohanna 2 3 4 India has to score 360 runs on last day of test match having 90 overs to win the match. They are chasing a score of 411/7 declared by opponents. Assume that tendulkar walks in after fall of 5th wicket and shares partnerships with the players (below him in the order in which they are listed in the table) who have batted normally (n) , defensively(d), d, d, d, and d respectively in the order of players listed after tendulkar. Sachin has played normally(n) with ganguly and agressively with others . Sachin's partnerships with Ganguly , Kumble, Bhajji, Sri and Yohannan lasted for 12, 10, 8 , 5 and 10 overs respectively. He has shared strike equally with ganguly and kept 2/3 strike in other 4 partnerships. If India proceeded to win the match, based on runs scored in last 5 partnerships, assuming tht last wicket pair was unbeaten, whats the max score at which sachin could have come to bat Options: 103/5 97/5 100/5 104/5 Thanx ..
Answer is 104. Assume that Sachin hits a six on the last ball of the inning making total score as 366. Minimum contribution by partnership is 262. (Sum of runs made by last 5 partnerships). So, 366-262=104.

LOD3 PROBLEMS,NUMBER SYSTEM,QUESTION11-13:at a particular time in the twenty first century there were seven bowlers in the indian cricket team list of 16 players shortlisted to play for next world cup.staticians discovered that if you look at number of wckets taken by any of the 7bowlers of the current indian cricket team, the number of wickets taken by them has a strange property.the numbers are such that any team selection of 11 players(having 1 to 7 bowlers)by using the number of wickets taken by each bowlers and attaching coeffients of+1,0 or-1 to each value available and adding the resultant values, any number from 1 to 1093,both included could be formed.if we denote w1,w2,w3,w4,w5,w6 and w7 as the seven values in the ascending order what could be the answer to the following quesions:(Q47) find the value of w1+2w2+3w3+4w4+5w5+6w6....options a)2005 b)1995 c)1985 d)none of these.....................ans(a)..............(Q4find the index of the largest power of 3 contained in the product w1.w2.w3.w4.w5.w6.w7....option a)15 b)10 c)21 d)6..............ans(c).......................Q(49)if the sum of the seven coefficients is 0,find the smallest number that can be obtained....option a)-1607 b)-729 c)-1041 d)-1054.........ans(c)
