In a survey of political preferences, 78% of those asked were in favour of at least one of the proposals: I, II and III, 50% of those asked favoured proposal I, 30% favoured proposal II and 20% favoured proposal II. If 5% of those asked favoured all three of the proposals, what percentage of those asked favoured more than one of the three proposals?
(a)10 (b) 12 (c) 17 (d) 22

chk if the ans is 17??

today v solved this in quant thread

I +II + III = 78
I = 50
II = 30
III = 20
I-intersection- II = x+5
II- intersection - III = y+5
I- intersection - III =z+5

I-intersection- II- intersection - III = 5

so, u knw formula ...

78 = 50+20+30 -(x+5) -(y+5) - (z+5) + 5

so,x+y+z = 12

so more thn one of the three = x+y+z+5 = 17

Here are solutions to 4 of the problems.
  1. M is a 2 digit number which has the property that: the product of factorial of its digits>sum of factorial of its digits. How many values of M exist???
Ans : 63
Can be solved using a crude counting way.
From 11 to 20 - 0
21-30 - 23 to 29 - 7 numbers
31-39 - 32 to 39 - 8 numbers
Similarly for numbers till 99, for each ten numbers, we will have 8 of them satisfying the condition. 8*7 + 7 = 63.
  1. the series of the no. (1,1/2,1/3,1/1972)is taken. Now 2 no r taken 4m dis series(the 1st 2) say x & y. then the operation x+y+xy is performed to get a consolidated no. The process is repeated. What will be the val of set aftr all the no are consoladadet to a single no.???
ans: 1972
This is also can be solved on the basis of generalization.
Take the first 2 numbers. 1,1/2. Apply the operation i.e. 1+1/2 + (1*1/2) = 3/2 + = 2.
Repeat. 2, 1/3 -> 2+1/3 + 2*1/3 = 7/3 + 2/3 = 3
You can clearly see, when we took the first two terms, we got the next digit. So if we repeat the process, the last pair of numbers left will be 1971, 1/1972, If we apply the same operation to this pair, we will get the answer as 1972.
  1. the series of the no. (1,1/2,1/3,1/1972)is taken. Now 2 no r taken 4m dis series(the 1st 2) say x & y. then the operation x+y+xy is performed to get a consolidated no. The process is repeated. What will be the val of set aftr all the no are consoladadet to a single no.???

one tenth of ques carry 1/10 -ve marks,1/5th carry 1/5 -ve marks & rest carry -ve marks.Unattempted cary no marks.What is the diff between max & min he can score???
Ans : 140..
In this case the maximum marks the candidate can obtain is 100.
The lowest marks will be when he gets all 100 questions wrong. The score in this case will be :
Since 1/10th questions carry -ve 1/10 marks, the score for the 10 questions(100/10) will be -10/10 = -1 mark.
1/5th questions carry -ve 1/5marks, the score for these 20 questions will be -20/5 = -4 marks.
Rest questions carry -1/2 marks i.e. -(100-10-20 questions)/2 = -35 marks.
Adding all these we get, -1 -4 -35 = -40
Diff. betn max and min = 100 - (-40)= 140
11. What is the rightmost digit preceding the zeros in (20)^53???
Ans : 2

Soln - 20^53 = (2*10)^53
= 2^53 + 53(........) + 10^53

= 2^53 (cycle of 4) gives u 2 as the last digit.
The remaing two in the equation have the last digit as 0..
Hence 2..
Have sum work right now.. will get back with all the solutions in a while..
Cheerz

u applied binomial here ..man hows it possible.....its not (x+y)^n instead it is 2^53*10^ 53 if v ignore 10^53 v r left wid 2^53 now (2^10)^5 *2^3

(2^10)^odd always have 24 as last two digits so 4*8 so last digit is 2

Q1)M is a 2 digit number which has the property that: the product of factorial of its digits>sum of factorial of its digits. How many values of M exist???

let the number be ab. For a!*b! > a!+b!
This is possible if both a and b are greater than 1.

Since its a 2 digit no a can take 9 values and b can take 10 values. Total we have 90 2 digit nos.

The given conditions will not be satisfied for following scenarios.
1) a=1 , b=any value; 10 digits
2)a>1, b= 0 or 1; 16 values
3)a=2,b=2; 1 value

Hence total values for which the condition is satisfies is 90-27 = 63

hey i didnt get u... can u xplain once again....

kanikakapur Says
hey i didnt get u... can u xplain once again....

Consider a 2 digit no 1b(b is any digit)

then the conditions 1!(1) * b!
Consider no a0 then a! * 0!(1)
Lastly consider 22. 2!*2! = 2! +2!

Hope that its now clear

Hi guys...I am finding some trouble in solving Arun Sharma, Quant.... there are lot of questions with no explanation....can u tell me from where to get ans..... thnks

here are 2 ques.

Ques.1- N=202*20002*200000002*2-----(15 zero)2*2---(31 zero)2.

total sum of digit in this multiplication will be???
a) 112, b) 160 c) 144, cant be determine.

ques 2- 10^n -(5+(17)^1/2) is divisible by 2^(n+2) for what whole no value of n??
a) 2 b)3, c) 7 ,d) 8 ,e) none of these

here are 2 ques.

N = 202 x 20002 x 200000002 x 2..(15 zeros)..2 x 2 ...(31 zeros) ...2 sum of the digits in this multiplication is
Individual digit sum = 4
4^5 = 1024. = 7 check from options...160 has a digit sum of 7 so the answer or else u can go by traditional way

= (202*20002) = 4040404 = 16
so going by the tresnd the answwer willl be 160

for second question check the terms i think u have committed the typo eerror
