here (a+4d)^2 + (a+10d)^2 = 3

so a^2 + 14ad + 58d^2=3/2

& (a+d) * (a+13d)=P

so a^2 + 14ad = P-13d^2

Now we need a*(a+14d)=a^2+14ad

so a^2 + 14ad=P-13d^2=P-13((3/2-P)/45)

so ans is (116P-39)/90

ans option (C)

Regarding question 2 a)
No of patty filled with chicken...660/4=165
No of patty filled with vegetable...660/7=94
No of patty filled with mushroom again 165
The sum is 424
Total burger by the machine 660
The answer is 660-424=236..or is it??

Question 2b)
the common terms between all the 3 AP's comes out to start with 9 and with a common difference of LCM of 4 and 7 that is 28..th answer to this question therefore is 24...660/28 gives us 23 but then 24th patty will also be filled with the three filllings..

Regarding the rohit question....let us take first term of the grid as a..
and d as common difference on row side and d' as common differnece along side column..
Now seventh term and seventeenth term of fifth row will be
a+4d+6d'=47 and a+4d+16d'=63..
now find out the value of d'
ANd applying th same logic to the second part of the problem we get a+14d+6d'=53 and a+14d+14d'=77..
Find the value of d and then find the value of a
Now we have the first term as a common difference for both the series as d and d'...apply the sum of an AP..and the answer is option a.

Dear Vrinda,
regarding how "Rohit" tries to baffle us...so according to that 7 and 17 are corresponding terms of this AP of 23 terms...the row 5 i mean...taking the first AP i.e the row 5....the mean of this AP is 55....that of the second ap i.e row 15 ...is 65..one thing is clear...the AP means right from the first to the last row run as 51 is the mean of the AP for the first row...52 for the second AP alias second row....so on till the 23 row whose mean is 73.......now you just have to do the following-
(51+52+53........+73)*23=32798

Please solve this question on probability.

There are 5 floors and 4 lifts.What is the probability that there is atleast 1 lift in the 5th floor?..it is simple one but i m not getting it

Every lift can be on one of the five floors.So, for 4 lifts total no of possibilities = 5*5*5*5 = 625
Possibility of not finding lift at fifth floor = 4*4*4*4 = 256
Required probability = (625-256)/625 = 369/625

Two Boxes A and B were filled with a mixture of rice and Dal - in A ratio of 5:3 and in B in the ratio of 7:3.What quantity must be taken from the first to form a mixture that shall contain 6kg of rice and 3kg of dal?

TIA

Let 8xkg of A
Let 10y kg of B.=>5x+7y=6 and 3x+3y=3=>x+y=1=>7x+7y=7
Solving abov for x we get,
2x=1=>x=.5
Hence 8(.5)=4 kg of first should br taken.
Hope this solves for you.

Sol1:
Total numbers till fourth digit.9+90+900+9000=9999
SO we need to find 18384th 5 digit term.
18380/5=3676.SO number is 13677.So 7 is the 28383rd term .

Sol2:
let 1,2,3,4,9,10,11,.....................,3000.
So there are 2994 elements posiible(max).

@shakti...the answes are 1.)9
2.)1333(as per arun sharma) :)
and ref. your sol1... dont u think it shud be 9, 180,2700,36000 terms(1 digit,2 digit,3digit) so as per me i was thinking the 28383rd term shud b some where in the 4 digit no's

First

28383 Term
As 9+ 90*2 +900*3 = 2889
we need to calculate 28383 term
so 28383-2889= 25494 terms left
now no suppose to count 1000 on wards
so 25494/4 = 6373 , 2 remainder

so we need to count uptill 6372 and 63 also

So 3 will be the answer

yep u r correct

1-9 total 9 number =9*1=9
10-99 total 90number=90*2=180
100-999 total 900 number=900*3=2700

now 9+180+2700= 2889

28383-2889=25494

so 25494/4=6373.25
