NUMBER SYSTEM 95) A number is such that when divided by 4,5,6,7 it leaves the remainder 2,3,4,5 resp. Which is the largest no. below 4000 satisfying this condition.
89) Find the least number by which 30492 must be mltiplied or divided to make it a perfect square
Can some one also explain the concept underlying Q 95 type of questions, I don't seem to be getting it !!
Thnks
Hey Zero,
The concept for solving question number 95 is as follows.
In the question, if you see closely, you will find that difference between divisor and remainder is always 2. Take any divisor and corresponding remainder. This means that the number, dividend here, should be 2 more then the exact multiple of divisor. Now here we have to find a numbers that should leave same remainder when divided by any of the given numbers. Number which will leave 0 as remainder when divided by any of the mentioned divisors would be the LCM of all the numbers (4,5,6,7 here). This comes out to be 420. Now we have to find the highest number below 4000. It would be 420*9 = 3780. This number is eaxctly divisible by any of the (4,5,6,7) divisors. Add 2 to the number to find the correct answer that would be 3780 + 2.
Hi Just want to put down two questions from Arun Sharma - Time and distance.
1. Two trains calcutta and Bombay mail start at same time from stations calcutta and bombay resp. After passing each other they take 12 hrs and 3 hrs to reach Bombay and calcutta. If calcutta mail is moving at a speed of 48 km/hr, speed of bombay mail is:
2. L and K are two stations 600 km apart. A train from L to k moves at a speed of 25 km/hr. After 2 hours another train starts from K to L at 35 km/hr. How far from L will they cross each other.

Thank you in advance.
This is the answer to the second question
Lets say the speed of trains be B and C respectively of trin going toward calcutta and train going towards bombay. Let x be the distance from bombay and y be the distance from calcutta that the trains meet.
now x/c = 12 ----- (1) and y/b = 3 ------(2) also c = 48 km/hr hence from (1) x = 12*48
if we divide 2 by 1 we get x/y = 12*48/3*b --- (3)
now if we look at the question again. As the two train started at the same time. They will meet after travelling for the same time Hence x/b = y/c this gives us x/y=b/c --- (4)
putting 4 in 3 you will get b = 96 km/hr.
Hence answer is 96 km/hr. I hope I dint screw it 😐
This is my first post in PagalGuy so I guess I would get help from the community.
I am solving Arun Sharma latest version for the Quant practice this year. I needed solution to Question 22 and 23 of Geometry LOD -2. Sorry cant post the question as it has figure associated with it.

Sorry virus_rock that wont be possible as I dont have a scanner at home.
Hi You can draw the pics in a simple manner in Mspaint. And then save them to your desktop. Attach it to your post in the thread. Let me know if you have any queries.
In a mixture of 80 litres of milk and water, 25% of the mixture is milk. How much water should be added to the mixture so that milk becomes 20% of the mixture?

thanks, Mona
See Milk=20 and water=60 Let x L of water is added so .2(x+80)=20=>x+80=100=>x=20L
Milk forms 25% of the mixture, i.e., 20 liters. In order to make the same 20 liters as 20% of the mixture, we must find the additional quantity of the total mixture(which happens to be the added water also, in this case).
